Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition where the airways in the lungs are inflamed and narrowed causing breathlessness, wheezing, chest tightness and coughing. Symptoms come as recurrent episodes known as asthmatic attacks most commonly at night or early in the morning.
    Pathology of asthma:
The lungs contain millions of air tubes or airways, called bronchi and bronchioles, which bring air in and out of the body. The airways have a layer of smooth muscle in their wall which enables them to constrict or dilate.
In people suffering from asthma these airways are inflamed, narrowed and become more sensitive to certain substances. Asthmatic attack, or exacerbation, happens when the airways react to these substances. During an attack, the smooth muscle contracts, squeezing the airways, making them even narrower; mucus secretion is also increased which further obstructs the airways.
Asthma is most commonly considered as an inflammatory response disease where the body’s immune system over-reacts to certain environmental agents. Causes of asthma are complex and not fully understood but likely involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Family history is a known risk factor for asthma. There are at least over twenty genes associated with asthma of which many are involved in the immune system.
Triggers are factors that initiate the attack. Common triggers include:
allergens, such as pollen, animal fur, pet dander, sulfites in preserved food..
irritants, such as cigarette smoke, industrial chemicals, dust, household chemicals,..
medications, such as aspirin, beta blockers,..
    physical activities, exercises.
There is no cure for asthma. The most effective way to manage symptoms is to identify the triggers of asthmatic attacks and avoid them.
There are two main classes of medication:
Bronchodilators - substances that dilate bronchi and bronchioles - are used as short-term relief of symptoms.
Inflammation moderators such as corticosteroids are taken as long-term treatments.
Asthma inhalers are used to deliver the medication to the lungs.
A number of conditions tend to occur more frequently in people with asthma and should be taken into account when treating asthma:
Allergies, such as eczema and hay fever. These individuals are considered hyper-allergic - they have high tendency to develop allergic reactions. The combination of these conditions is known as atopy or atopic syndrome. Immunotherapy may be recommended for this group of patients.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD - a condition in which stomach acid backs up and damages the mucosal lining of the esophagus. GERD may worsen asthma symptoms and medications for asthma often worsen GERD symptoms. Treating GERD usually improves asthma and must be included in an asthma treatment plan.
Obstructive sleep apnea or OSA - obstruction of the airway at the throat level during sleep. Asthmatic patients are at higher risks of developing OSA. The mechanism of this association is largely unknown.
Sinusitis: inflammation of paranasal sinuses. Sinusitis commonly worsens asthma symptoms and makes treatments less effective.

Reminds me of my classmate who has sever asthma. I remember the new PE teacher in our school told us that asthma is all in the head and you just need to break your limits physically by training and exercise (probably wanted to make a first impression or something). We thought he wanted to motivate our asthmatic classmate but during PE at the gym he took away her Inhaler and said he'll give it back to her after class and told her to join the jogging line. This all shocked us! We told the idiot PE teacher that she doesn't have asthma only, she has sever chronic asthma! She's not even suppose to be in classes because of her condition but she begged her parents to experience school life despite her ailment and not do home schooling. We got yelled at because of that and were told that we were spoiling her. She did well for the 5 meter run until she was asked to do another 5 meter run twice to cover 15meters, the second 5 meter run she was significantly slowing down and turning blue. Third 5 meter run she was gasping for air like a fish! Half way through she just kneels on both feet, head down but arms stretching to our teacher for her inhaler! The idiot was still shouting 2 more meters! Our female classmates were crying and pleading to the teacher to stop. That's when the fun starts, she collapses on the floor pale as our white T-shirts, her tongue is sticking out half way through and her eyes were rolled behind her head. We all ran to her to help her and good thing our Math teacher passed by, he was wondering what the F was going on until he saw our classmate on the floor. Ambulance was called and she rushed to the hospital, she was on ventilator for a week. Her parents sued the school, the school paid for all her medical fees and a certain idiot teacher got his license revoked and got criminal charges. A week later we get a new PE teacher.

So sorry, that sounds scary! Did you know that some researchers found that food sensitivities played a role in 25-90% of asthma cases? You could try a basic gluten/dairy/eggs/soy free eating plan, or talk to a healthcare provider about trying elemental formula or mediator release testing. Just remember it's most helpful to work with a health professional on these things and have an epipen on hand when reintroducing foods, in case they trigger a reaction!

I have had severe asthma early in my life and as recent 5 years it was triggered to the severe once again. I nebulized and used the inhaler daily and it was only as an emergency relief but still low lung capacity for breathing. Three weeks ago I came across a meme that suggested Blue Vervain's affects and ordered it with hopefulness but doubted. Day one I instantly felt more air capacity I was used to and I haven't needed an inhaler or neb for the first time in five years. I feel lively and has produced more stamina sexually. I feel revived. My wife had a nasty cold that she was medicating with Nyquil and suffering for days. I finally convinced her to take one capsule. She instantly started feeling better and is on the recovering end of the cold faster than she has before. Now I'm telling everyone close to me about this amazing herb. I don't ever give reviews but this herb is saving my life.

I used to think asthma was a cool and unique condition and I wanted to have it when I was young. But who knew that I would get it one day and I regret every moment I spent wishing for it. I was in band class practicing music for our pep rally with my tenor sax when I suddenly went out of breath like so bad I was gasping for breath. My band teacher who was usually a strict teacher that doesn’t usually let any students leave his class was concerned and offered to take me to the nurse’s. When I got to the nurse’s office, She called my mom and explained to her what was going on and my dad had to leave work to pick me up and take me to the emergency room and after they took X-rays they diagnosed me with asthma. That was September 2021. I literally feel like the walls are closing in on me, and it is also messing with my music career because now i can’t do a 4 measures without taking a huge gasping breath. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy it’s THAT BAD!

I have asthma, but I almost cured it by 3 simple steps. These methods are cheap and best :
    1) No animal proteins like egg, mutton, chicken, milk and milk products...stop milk, curd, cheese etc at any cost. Eat simple vegetarian foods.
    2) brisk walking (10 mins) in morning & evening in sunlight. Or cycling / सूर्य नमस्कार / play badminton / lawn tennis.
    3) Ekadashi fasting is must. Have fruits, boiled veggies or soup.
I learned all these during covid lock down and now I am completely free of asthma, allergies, cold cough.

My brother passed away because of a heart failure in 2017, most likely caused by his asthma. He had severe asthma his whole live. Always coughing, experiencing shortness of breath and much more. Im in so many tears writing this, but as i said earlier, he passed away in 2017 at 9 years old when I was 7. We only had a 2 year old gap. One day we both woke up due to his extreme coughs (6-7AM), but ofcourse, I didnt think much of it since he always coughed because of his Asthma. So we just quickly went ahead and grabbed the inhaler. As time passed, it rapidly got worse and thats when I called out for mom. After mom came and tried everything, he was only beginning to struggle more, barely being able to breathe, and he even sat on the floor, for it's coldness. I'm not sure why, he was probably was heating up and the floor was cold. (December)
Next thing we knew he said, ''Mom, im dying', I'll end it here because afterwards he fainted and from there on it only got even worse. Was that only the beginning then?
And my head hurts so much from writing this, while crying nonstop.
I cant imagine the pain he must've went through when those were his last words. I dont even want to imagine. How can you possible imagine the feeling of dying??
I really dont know what to do, I'm so frustrated with myself, I dont remember much and I also didnt do much in the situation itself.
I wish it was me instead of him, I wish i knew how to do CPR, I wish I had had a little more knowdlege back then. Its all my fault. Im so sorry. Im really sorry.
You shouldnt have gone through all that. I really wish you were still here I miss you so so much
Forgive me for all the time I annoyed and disturbed you when we were kids, I was foolish and idiotic.
I hope youre having a better time up there. Im glad you didn't have to experience covid-19 and how the world has become now. God loves you since he took you away from this evil world before it got worse.
Im really sorry, lets see each other soon. I love you bro

With corticoid treatment (i don't know how to spell it, sorry spanish is my first language) you should be ok. Symbicort, relvar and other medicines are typical. One or 2 puffs a day and they reduce swelling of the lungs in a stable way. Then 1 puff of salbutamol before exercising and you will be good as new.
Consult your doctor, of course. I used to be extremely asmathic, had to be in the ICU a couple of times for it and now my quality of life with treatment is much better.
