I remember my metal lunch box, I loved it too. Being raised in New England we would slide across the ice and snow on our metal lunch box in the school yard. Thank God for memories. 😂
I lived close enough to the school that I was able to walk to school every day, so I was able to go home for lunch. But I did have a metal lunch box that I used on those days when my mother might be gone or days that the weather was too cold or too wet. My lunch box was a red plaid metal box with a matching thermos for keeping soup hot. What a fun memory!
Tammy. I really enjoy your videos. Your voice is so calming. The quilt that you are able to quilt are breathtaking. I sit and stitch while watching. Again that you for all your time making these videos
It was funny that you said you loved cursive writing as a kid! I taught cursive for many years as a third grade teacher. When I received your card with the template and pattern I won, the first thing I noticed was your cursive writing! It is beautiful! I even showed it to my husband. It breaks my heart that most school systems don’t teach cursive anymore. Enough of that… thank you so much for my prize. It was well packaged and in good shape!
So a sad story . . . At 10 years old we would take each of our kids to the library to get their own library card. With one of our sons, when he was handed the card to write his signature, the librarian was shocked that he could write his name in cursive. She said her step son went to the license branch to get his Learner’s Permit and didn’t know how to sign his name in cursive! A “snail mail” pen pal was one of the best things for improving their cursive. They were writing for a purpose and it had to be legible. 📝
Laurie is crazy good talented!! It’s so fun to see other quilters’ creations and your ability to pick the most perfect quilt designs Miss Tammie is amazing! I learn more perspective every time I watch your show n tells. Thanks so much for taking the time, it’s so enjoyable. 😊 have a wonderful weekend. We have 7 grands coming today for a sleepover so my sewing adventures will have to wait for the weekend. 😜🤗
Nice finishes, Tammie, love your enthusiasm with Lori Holt! I only found her a few years ago too. I was watching Kimberly from Fat Quarter Shop one day and she told how she and Lori became friends. Laurie, beautiful quilts!
Oh, wow! Lori has kept you busy for sure. I am going to agree with you on most points made... I LOVE the Best Press. (Thank you for the tips on the borders, by the way!) I LOVE College Football... and I agree, there is nothing better than a good tight match on a Saturday afternoon while I am working on my current projects. AND I am a Lori fan as well, though maybe not to that extent....;) I love seeing the beautiful stitching and I am going to have to send you one one day! Happy quilting!! And come on, Fall!! :) 🪡
Loved all the quilts today but especially liked Laurie's pumpkin and stars around the world quilts. Wow, 6 quilts!! She has been busy and very talented.
I loved seeing the Lori Holt book and I plan to purchase it soon. Also, Lauri’s quilts are so beautiful, she has been one busy girl. I can only imagine how much fun it must be for you when you open them up and get to see the quilts in person!! Have fun………………
All beautiful quilts. Thanks for sharing how to measure and put borders on quilts. I was originally taught to take the long length of fabric and just sew it on to the edge if the quilt. And, I had one quilt the LAQ had difficulties with the wavy border. I have since learned to measure and use a more precise application of my borders with much better results
Thank you for sharing the beautiful quilts and your quilting Tammie! All the fall projects got me ready to squirrel up all the fall fabric I can find! My very most favorite time of year!
Really liked all the quilts but absolutely LOVED Laurie's quilt using Kansas troubles fabric. Enjoyed your time you spent going over haul, and the Lori Holt books n fabric. ❤
I love all of these. My favorites were the baby quilt with the Chantilly pattern and of course the pumpkin. But I love all of them, I am a Lori Holt fan, like many. Thanks for taking the time to show us everything.
I'm glad to know that you can use muslin for backing... I am new to quilting and a little clueless. I thought you could use any 100% cotton fabric, but no one else I've watched ever mentions muslin - except you! I've always liked muslin. Great to know!
Most antique quilts have muslin as the backing. It’s only been in recent times that we decided to use colored fabrics on the back as well. Muslin is a great way to show off the quilting on the back.
I'm not kidding here - but I wantd to finish up my Quilter's Cottage - had only the final borders to put on and turned on your video to have on while sewing. So I had to chuckle at your tour through the book of The World of Lori Holt. I've been very curious what that book was all about, so thank you so much for sharing. I think I need that book as I really made my first LH quilt this year and became very aware of her last year. I've been very confused about the history of all her fabrics, and that book would be very very handy to have on hand. So far, Mercantile, Quilter's Cottage, and a couple more are all just tops. Just need to finish them. I'm like you in that it doesn't need to be the be the exact fabrics to make it work for her quilts. I'm trying to finish up a lot of her quilts as I'm finding them very fun! Thanks for the very thorough video. So many are only 10 minutes long with a 10 second (or less) glimpse of any given quilt with no time to actually absorb it.
The Stars Around The World Quilt using the Kansas Troubles Freedom Road fabrics with that pantograph pattern is truly stunning! I would like to purchase this quilt! Thank you!
"The Happy Little Stitch Shop" here on TH-cam has the "World of Lori Holt" quilt all ready to go in Kit form in their website shop. I was 1st drawn to Lori because her designs & colors match my eccentric farm house with it's kitchen from the 1930s. How is your "Scrappy Spools" going? The "Owl" quilt is just so smart! Who hasn't picked up a really cute large scale print that you just hate to cut up smaller? This just works! Your quilting is always so amazing!
Lovely podcast with Lori Holt and the beautiful quilts...it would be very helpful if you could let us know if the quilts are beginner friendly, etc...lovely long arm quilting❤❤
Tammie, what a great video, so much inspiration, Laurie is an amazing quilter! I would be most grateful if you could tell me size of the blocks in quilt #4. I would like to use my Kaffe Fassett fabrics for a large quilt and then downsize the pattern and use my depression fabrics for a baby quilt. Thank you!
Laurie’s return shipping was under $20. I’ve learned that flat rate boxes aren’t always the cheapest. And I’ve also had occasions when heavier boxes were cheaper through UPS than USPS.
I love how the feeling of talking directly to me as if I were in the room. Calm, informative and relaxing to watch.
Oh, that is so encouraging to me. Thanks so much! 💕
I remember my metal lunch box, I loved it too. Being raised in New England we would slide across the ice and snow on our metal lunch box in the school yard. Thank God for memories. 😂
That is too funny!

That makes me laugh because my husband always tells the story to our kids about how he walked home everyday for lunch too! Oh yes, the thermos!

Laurie says the blocks were 10". You may email her directly at Roberlaur@sbcglobal.net for more details. She gave me permission to share.
That black n white check backing on the GA bulldog quilt looks like the black n white Roll Tide houndstooth😂
😁
What type of batting do you use your quilts are beautiful ❤
Clients choose either Quilters Dream 80/20 or Quilters Dream 100% cotton. Others send in their own batting.
Looks amazing. How are you enjoying the Bernina?
Thank you. My domestic machine is an older Bernina and it still works like a charm.
Dang. Laurie sent several at once. Is there an affordable way to ship multiple quilts to you -and back again?
Laurie’s return shipping was under $20. I’ve learned that flat rate boxes aren’t always the cheapest. And I’ve also had occasions when heavier boxes were cheaper through UPS than USPS.
