I actually sympathize with Charlotte way more, especially considering her goal with that fake persona, and I feel the larger difference between her "real" and "fake" selves showed that she took the performance far more seriously, and it in turn sold the idea that she was putting up a huge act to bag a rich husband. Honestly, if Fates' character writing was better, or if the voice actors brought the script to life better, Charlotte would be better than Panette.

If she makes even the smallest misstep it may linger as a national mark of shame.", regardless of how secure her position is she believes that her true personality would embarras the royals and therefore keeps up the act, I think you could also argue that she keeps it up to break free from her past since she tells timerra she isn't proud of her past of randomly picking fights with people, I also don't think her acting being worse is bad as it sorta ads to her character, it is kinda shown in her personal skill and etie support that she is pretty easy to provoke, this is contrasted with yunaka in the same game who is shown to be a skilled actor and is able to keep up her false persona a bit better then panette, it may just be because of the type of person panette is that her act isn't perfect, she is a bit of a weirdo shown in her interest in bugs and ghosts as well as having a lot of anger and rude behavior wich means trying to be a more cute refined lady would naturally come difficult to her, her disguise also makes sense as when reclassed she says she prefers her clothes with a little wear and tear so her combat outfit makes sense under her preferences(and even then her somniel design does have her wear something more refined)

It’s shown in the Saphir support why she acts like an regal retainer because she believes soldiers working directly for royalty should act that way, with herself being an retainer to the crown princess she does her best to not act like an barbarian in front of her and more knightly It’s similar to Yunaka where all the words she uses in that tone is an mask while her true self sounds much different and isn’t exactly as chipper about everything

I think all of the cast here is the result of them blender-ing a number of their previous characters. Like say, Diamant is somewhat like Ogma but a royal like Hector His bro is a weird mix of Jeorge and Bernie Panette here is some weird mix of Peri and Charlotte Alfred and his lackeys have a bit of Raphael mixed in there Lemme know if there's more combos you see.
Diamant is Hector + Chrom + Xander. Alcryst is primarily Bernadetta with some Rolf/Gordin. Ivy is Camilla's design with Azura's personality. Hortensia is basically a more abrasive Elise with maybe a tad bit of Hilda. Zelkov is Hubert. Amber is Kieran.
Do not compare any character in this game to anyone from fates or awakening, thats an insult to engage's writing, except amber, he got the short end of the stock by the translation team for some reason...and an awful voice

She is my hardest carry absolute nuking people with a Killer Axe+5 and Ike but I love the fact that her notebook entry says that "She is the most courteous" despite being an absolute caveman in combat. She's trying so hard to be polite. She is the best.
I love Panette, she's probably my favorite Engage character. She's one of the few well written characters with a somewhat fleshed out background. I found her very relatable, charming and cute. One of the best things to come out of this game
@@cryguy0000 some can even make a horrible impressian causing you to write them off entirely, I feel this isnthe biggest problem with why people aren't as invested in engage as 3h, love it or hate it the monastary does really allow you to grow attached to those fodlan kids a lot quicker(maybe a bit too quick in that it makes letting one die both harder from a gameplay and emotional level), I sorta blame the firene squad though, they do have some stuff to them but the introduction they make is awful not helped by the twins either, when I looked deeper into engage I found a lot of characters I came to love like pannette and gregory but they really do a bad job at getting people to see the more to them, even yunaka to some extend only really becomes interesting if you support her, now the story still kinda sucks but sometimes characters are more important then story so it is sad that unless you look deeper into it it is really easy to write of engage's cast
The Saphir support is interesting when you think about Panettes own situation. She isn't telling Saphir to be more polite just because, but because Panette isn't exactly dissimilar from Saphir naturally. She is doing it to help Saphir in an honest way, because she knows how fickle royalty can be, and it is something that will legitimately help Saphir. It's less "you need to be proper" and more "this will help you in the long run when dealing with the stupidity of royalty."
It's honestly weird though because timerra who she serves is barely less casual(she isn't going about cracking people's skull, but at the same time she still wonders about the country intentionally baiting bandits to solo them). And that's also the case of her mother, as well as fogado. Maybe the rest of solm nobility isn't that chill. Or she forces formality on herself so the rare times it's needed she can do it

I wish Panette had more screentime because I benched her because she seemed boring in her intro. She's actually pretty cool.
