Thank you for the awesome idea to fix the gap where cable can get jammed. Personally, I had no issues with cable getting jammed in my HF rooter as I take very good care of the cable, but when I bought the unit cheap second handed and found that snake cable was kinked in every way possible and jammed behind the drum as well. Bought new cable and it works like a charm.

I completely disassembled mine after the shaft got worn down to the point of releasing the c-clip again and again. I got so disgusted with the c-clip that I drilled a hole through the shaft and now use a cotter pin instead to retain the spin plate. This works great but I forgot which direction I was supposed to reattach the line. Your video showed me the line unwinds "away" from the direction of spin. That's what I thought, and your video helped me to confirm that. You are completely right about the sloppy spooler/follower, I bought some washers to push it closer to the spin plate so the cable wouldn't get trapped up behind it. I had to weld in a 3/4" ID washer onto the spooler because it got worn eccentric which caused the wearing on the shaft that compromised the c-clip channel. I wish they had designed this machine with some ball bearings and had secured the shaft better. My machine now works again, but not without a crap-ton of work on my part. Cheap crappy design that is a pain to fix each time. The access slots in the front of the drum are just barely large enough for me to get my hands in. And trust me, it is a royal pain to get the short cable spur reattached, it's like wrestling monkeys. Repairing this machine is exhausting. BTW: to prevent kinks between the machine and the drain hole, I purchased a garage door spring and attached a wooden plate to it which completely solves the problem of kinks between the machine and the drain hole. This is a basic addition everyone should do.

Had the same problem with the shaft and C-clip, re-groove the shaft wider and added a second C-clip. Thought of the cotter pin also!! If that does not work will make new shaft with a passage drilled in it for a grease zerk to lube spindle!! May even put bearings in!

@@oldcatmech My cotter pin seems to be holding up. I just bought a new cable from HF. After my repairs the cable started kinking. It seems everything about this is designed to fail after about 100 hours.

Re-installing the V-Belt after it slips off:
    1. My model was probably purchased 2018, so I am guessing the new ones are different
    2. Tilt motor down, insert V-built into pully and push on to drum
    a) How do you tilt motor down?
    - Loosen the 4 bolts that hold the motor down to a horizontal plate
    - 1/2 inch socket wrench
    - I used some C-clamps to make putting the bolts back in easier
    3. I read somewhere there are springs so you can tilt down the motor, but mine does not have these springs.

This is exactly what happened to mine druing the 1st use. The snake is currently stuck between the drum its coiled around and the back of the drum, the machine is now locked up. Seems to be a comon problem.

The first time I used mine I got 30 minutes of run time then drum stopped spinning. This happened after unkinking the cable. Perhaps this video will help me disassemble and diagnose what actually happened. Thanks for posting. I couldn't find any other info online letting me know how to fix.

Dude mine did the same thing, was yours in rev too long? Im trying to figure out what happened to mine

@@jerem18h Jeremiah, I put the motor switch to reverse for a short period of time. I also put the power feed lever near drum in reverse. The cable kinked up bad in the drum. I ended up taking it apart as much as possible and eventually unkinked the cable. However, the motor still will not spin the drum. I filled out the Pumps_Sprayers online refund form (don't do it over the phone, you won't be able to track your refund). They told me I would receive a full $438.71 refund by mailed check, but it's going to take 6-8 weeks. They said I should NOT return the machine. The instruction manual is not clear about the motor reverse switch and the power feed reverse lever, very confusing. I plan on finding an electrician to diagnose and repair the motor AFTER getting my refund check. My landlord eventually broke down and paid Roto Rooter $300+ to clean out the sewer lateral drain.

    I need some help:
    1. My drum keeps slipping forward off the spinning rod in the center.
    2. I am guessing that my model (circa 2018) is different than the one in the video.
    3. My drum fits over the spinning center rod. I don't know how it is supposed secure to the spinning center rod.
    Does anybody have any suggestions?
(There is a collar with set screw on it, I just saw a video suggesting that it be tightened. I will try that tomorrow morning. But I don't
see how this would keep the drum from sliding off.

@@StupidTeenageVideos I actually bought the drain snake machine, it's awesome, but, it does get tangled. So I pulled out the whole snake and slowly wound it back in using the reverse motor, it worked, slowly and keeping the snake straight. Good luck!

I've been using my HF rooter for several years and so far no tangles. Wonder how I have so little issues. I got mine second handed for cheap and the original owner must have gotten sick of the tangled cables and that's why he sold it. But with new cable I had zero issues.

Air foot switch stopped working after 3rd use

    • @springer-qb4dv
      @springer-qb4dv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

easy fix - just apply some clear silicon caulk where it's leaking and let it dry. I had my foot switch leaking and this fixed it and it's been good for several years.
