Your smallfry are usually called Whitebait : a term for small, young fish that are typically fried and eaten whole: Or if you want to get technical ......Whitebait are the juveniles of six species of fish. Five of these are migratory galaxiids: inanga, banded kōkopu, giant kōkopu, kōaro and shortjaw kōkopu. The sixth species is common smelt.
Marvelous! A new camera? The short depth of field @1:00 of Mr. Boo in blue...nice! The ceiling of the Basilica!! is it too much to ask to have a similar bedroom ceiling?
This last episode was, for me, the best, as it showcased the most historic part of the city, along with the excellent, well-served, high-quality meals. The idea of renting a scooter was brilliant for dealing with the traffic chaos.
Blimey, I've just watched Gone With The Wynns, in Bruges, where my wife and I have visited, and then you guys come up with a Vespa, a scooter which I once owned. It's like going back in time today!
A great video. Nice to Mr. Boo at the wheel.... or handlebars. The scoot is probably faster than the Ami 🤣 I was just in Rome. Many Amis there, and the FIAT equivalent. This was a great tour of Marseille. The WWII damage photos about 6:30 were a shock; special, but a shock. Many thanks for the time and effort to share the video.
Those giant buildings out beyond the stadium towards the Calanques are not housing projects. It’s quite a middle and upper middle class set of apartment buildings with amazing views surrounded by pine groves…those little fish , les mange tous, in Spanish are pescaditos fritos
A treat as always, and this time on my special birthday! Thank you once again. I love small independent establishments that provide fantastic, affordable food in a great atmosphere - sadly harder and harder in U.K. to find!
It’s funny that those little fish are called whitebait in English. In Italian those little fish, which can be of several different species and are typically served fried and whole, are called pesce azzurro, or blue fish. I wonder if they are the same thing and if so I find it curious that they are similar but different in their colorful names.
It doesn't matter how old you are Tim...( Im roughly the same age as you)...what counts is attitude. Like you, I'd much rather eat cheaply and be surrounded by young people than go fine dining with a load of stuck-up old fogies! You have inspired my new wardrobe, by the way... I used to live in denim jeans but have adopted your combat trouser style and feel a lot younger!
One of your best episodes 👏 I remember walking around those streets a decade or so ago and thinking they were cool then. I'll be heading back soon with a bit of luck
This area of Marseille I really enjoyed .it certainly is a city of contrasts . My daughter is part of a team doing the Xmas decorations in Chateau de le croix des gardens in canne this week …and getting paid as well . Stay charged.
The French Tourist Office should be paying you two a retainer! One learns so much every week. Your Octopus was so cheap, the whitebait less so maybe but at least it wasnt smothered in batter like it often is in the UK. But what area was that little restaurant in? And was it Chez Gilda?
Tim, did you say Gnocchi shop or knocking shop? If you are taking darling Twiggy on a scooter you should put her in a hard shell back pack in case of an accident!
Fanny was part of the trilogy Marius, Fanny & César by the French author Marcel Pagnol. Not Beryl Cook-ish in the slightest, but the garish souvenirs might have you believing otherwise. Look like you had a great time. PS: Some great eating addresses I hadn't heard of, I'll be checking them out! PPS: The sardines are whitebait
I would have said Sherlock Holmes’s house rather than James bonds house as both are places that exist in literature obviously Monsieur bonds residence is not canon . as far as I know mentioned in the books as being in Chelsea off the kings road though book written after Flemings death give wellington square as bonds address though the house number differ according to different writers John Pearson says no 30 where William Boyd says no25 wellington Square

Definitely seen them on menus in Scotland as Whitebait.
Thank you. I never knew!

Ravioli & Knockin' shops ....Marseille here i come! 🇫🇷
I want to open a ravioli and knocking shop!

I just had roast beef , Yorkshire pudding , roast potatoes, cauliflower, calibres, peas and carrots.

Mr Boo driving around Marseille on the scooter like in the opening scene of the Luc Besson written movie Taxi 😅
Again very nice!

So enjoy you both very much!
Wow that food was amazing and all for €50! That area definitely has a buzz!
23:23 A scene of The French Connection has been filmed on that island!😊
Shall look it up!
Thanks! Really great content!

Virgin Mary beer mats 🤣🤣..fantastic 3 parter guys, thanks for taking us along
Great stuff
Très belle escapade marseillaise, vous vous rapprochez de plus en plus d'Arles et de la feria de Pâques , qui sait?

Can’t believe you missed the blue balls gag 😂😱love your vlogs by the way ☮️
Remember stay fuelled 😂😂😂
Superb👍♥️
We're in Marseille soon, but if you think we're hiring a scooter you can think again!
But thanks for the other good addresses!

But is it true as the man in the shop said that you kiss Fanny if you lose 13-0?
9.40 tourists making a pilgrimage to a place in a fictional book ?
It was a bit like half the world living their lives on a fictional book ?
