Less graffiti and drug dealing in Nice though 😮 the real gutsy heart of these places ..so different to what people expect . Thank you Tim and Boo and Twiggy x
You caught the Marseille vibe, from rough areas to the central old port, the historic heart of Marseille. I was born there and lived there as a kid until 12 then headed to the more "normal" west of France. Despite all the problems rooted in this city, poverty and drugs, I must say that like all the people who lived in that city, I terribly missed the warmth of their people and the international culture. Still now, 30 years after, and still far away from Marseille, I always think back of this city with nostalgia. Marseille is not for everyone, definitely not, but for the ones who are willing to understand the Mediterranean part of France, far away from the French clichés, it's definitely a must visit place. Thanks guys for this tour!❤
Thanks for another fab vlog in Marseille😂. I was shouting at the TV for Mr Boo to get to the pharmacie asap!! So pleased he was OK. Tears of laughter Tim, at your reaction to your burger!! Twiggy is so good in her carrier 🐶
First time i've seen Tim complain about the food in France. He is usually so gracious in his reviews so it must have been truly terrible for him to say that. Gosh what an adventure, it had it all . Glad R was ok after his allergy , good old pharmacist. Concerned about little Twigs and her toilet hope she is ok now . Hated all the graffiti that’s not for me but beautiful buildings at one time. Hav3 fun in the next one. Love to Twigs. 🐾🐾🐾
Thanks for the great entertainment and guide to Marseille. Another enjoyable video! Pity about the burger lol! Kept thinking “The French Connection “ for some reason….
Excellent tour of the city! The atmosphere isn’t really to my taste, and that open-air drug dealing is outrageous. However, there are quite a few interesting details in Marseille that make it unique. Mr. Boo really was quite red, hopefully, he’s feeling better now and it’s all cleared up!

Hi Lads from Spain. I remember those old Citroën H type vans from 1955 when i was in Paris and I love them. M.Sellers being repeatedly carted off in one in one of the Panthers 😆Allergies are very awkward if you don't know just what they are. i am allergic to phenolphthalene which is an ingredient in Ex lax which my mother used to give me because I was constipated - it brought me out in love bites!
Leaving for Provincetown in the morning You too would love it there, so safe nobody locks the doors going to enjoy it for the week-Before the tariffs kick in 😝
Mr Boo was right about the booming. The France battle fleet was based there. When the Francie capitulated to the Germans, The British boomed the France fleet to stop it falling into German Hands.
I think youre confusing Marseille with Mers-el-Kebir near Oran in French controlled Morocco. The RN attacked this Port and sank or severely damaged many French warships in 1940, as the French Vichy Govt had refused to send their ships to French ports in the West Indies, which would have been completely safe from the Germans. The action created massive bad feeling and issues between the UK and Vichy Govt which ultimately led to Operation Torch (the allied invasion of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia) and the British invasion of Lebanon and Syria. Neither territory was surrendered by the French Govt and were hard fought. Many thousands of French soldiers (and British) died in Syria in 1941. A couple of weeks after Operation Torch, the German Army tried to take Toulon (as they took over Vichy France) resulting in the French Navy scuttling its entire fleet to avoid capture (something the French Navy had promised Churchill that they would do). The 82nd (?) anniversary is coming up on 27/11/2024. The heart of french naval power was destroyed on that day.
@@MeandMonAmi He's mistaken, Toulon is and was the main French naval base in the Med (Brest is the other). Tim, I'm sure you know that Villefranche has a long history with the US Navy and was the home base of the US 6th fleet post war (I think until France left NATO). A potentially interesting topic for a history video ?
Might be worth Mr Boo visiting the doctor . I ended up with a shellfish allergy in my late 40,s ... Have to carry an EpiPen nowadays ....used to love seafood !!!!! 😢
Boys, Boys, Boys! I do sympathise with the whole, can't find somewhere to eat, then choosing a dive experience. I had the opposite one a couple of nights ago, staying in a crappy Travelodge in Bromsgrove, next door pub looked like nothing, but turned to have excellent food, so I had a three course meal all to myself. The Seabass was excellent!
Well thank you my friends; what an eye opening experience you've showed us! I can remember being on the train from Lyon to Antibe in around 1994 going to the rented apartment. I think my French husband at the time felt a little leery about putting is beloved on the train; I can remember him speaking to one of the train conductors who seemed to watch me like a hawk. When we stopped in Marseille; I got up and he strongly push my shoulder down telling not your stop. I responded yes but we're here for 30 minutes can't I go get a coffee; MY jailer responded absolutely not! So I watched from the window whilst my jailer brought me a papers cup of coffee. What I saw still sticks with me to this day. The coffee didn't taste good . But I know look back and think dressed head to tow in white linen Ralph Lauren and perhaps just a little to gay for my jailer to let me out I could only observe from the window.. I really do thank you both in giving this 60 year old gay such delightful vedios each weekend. I really can't tell you in words how much I do appreciate you both for taking me away from my current situation her in America! I've been so appalled these last few weeks my my country man here in America that voted for the most horrendous man on earth! I thank you and appreciate your weekly diversion from reality. If I had some extra cash to contribute to your coffee allowance you would be the people I would. But I my allowance from Social security and my rent of $2300 a month. I cant possible; but please don't stop ! Just love you guy's! ❤
Hmm, I really liked it. Looks great, vibrant, interesting. And drugs, well, try Amsterdam, Antwerp and many other cities... But is it unsafe then? Hmm.. i lived next door to a dealer, and the guy was more sad than dangerous really... But food allergies... I have plenty of deadly ones. And especially shellfish can be quite nasty... That's why I enjoy seeing you eating the stuff I can't 😂
Hi guys, you really pick the seediest areas to show people,Marseille has some lovely areas, the whole city is not covered in graffiti, what about the Prado, Rue Paradis, and many other normal areas.A lot of people commenting are appalled by what they are seeing. Most large towns in France have market areas like you are showing, you have to remember the north Africans were colonised. in 1964 640000 people arrived in Marseille from Algeria and other areas in the space of 6 months to escape unrest and a bad earthquake, needless to say they never went back. They spread out all over the south of France. Please folks don't be put off, some of you sound terrified lol come and enjoy.
I was in Menton and Nice last month. I wish I would have chosen Marseille, truly an authentic, organic city. I agree with you. If they went to worst areas of NYC or LA, you would have had the same experience.
Wow! I thought London was bad enough for graffiti, but his place takes the crown....nothing to be proud of. Shockingly terrible and off-putting! Graffiti is one of the world's big visual social problems that no one knows how to tackle.
Interesting video. More, please! How considerate and how typically French, for Marseille to be so clearly zoned! BTW you did see police, as did your viewers in shot periphery, but not in official uniforms, just plain casuals and in male pairs. Subtle? Non! In plain sight...
Mister Me and Mister Boo and Elton and Twiggy 🐶🦮❤ Marseille, certainly different, graffiti, I'm thinking it's a bit unsightly, but that's one my opinion 😉 the shop that sold anything & everything was somewhere ya could spend ages mooching around 😊Mister Boo, the walking facts machine turnes a deep shade of red , looked like he been on gas mark 7😮😮 fortunately it got sorted quickly, very entertaining vlog, stay safe and well and obviously stay charged 👍 🎉
While Marseille is very interesting,in its diversity, I much prefer your adventures in Elton . The mountain villages in France and Italy are more appealing to me . Marseille is different, but not in a nice way to me .stay charged.

You were able to highlight the particularities of certain districts of the city... "the Cours Julien and its graffiti" "Noailles and its oriental market" "the Old Port and its architecture... But there are 16 districts and each one is unique and has its own history. Marseille is an old city and has many emblematic buildings "the radiant city of Corbusier" "Notre Dame de la Garde and its panorama" "the Palais Longchamps built to celebrate the arrival of water in the city" "the cathedral of the Major located in the unmissable Quartier du Panier where you will find "la vielle charité" and many other places and seaside to discover... In any case, thank you and congratulations for your beautiful shared images.
Thanks. More to come next week!
I've been going through some recent videos that I've missed. And may I ask you gentlemen please, how do you hold onto your lovely figures. I mean do you eat healthy most of the time? Do you have a good fitness routine? Thanks!
We gym and swim most days but that’s it really!
Thanks for sharing Fantastic episode stay off the fish Mr Boo

Really enjoyed this trip to Marseille! Never been, never will now😅
You should!
Another fascinating episode ... the real Marseille! Are you gping back to see Ultra's exterior? ... Looking forward to the next one!!
Thanks Mike. We did go back to see the ultra exterior, its in the final ep!
We had a great time in Marseille, it was during the strikes of of 2023 , so We ended up staying 2 nights in Le Panier , I got by with my poor French , had some fab food & drink . It’s a Gritty town but full of life
I agree
Hi Lads from Spain. I remember those old Citroën H type vans from 1955 when i was in Paris and I love them. M.Sellers being repeatedly carted off in one in one of the Panthers 😆Allergies are very awkward if you don't know just what they are. i am allergic to phenolphthalene which is an ingredient in Ex lax which my mother used to give me because I was constipated - it brought me out in love bites!
That was a good one chaps....most of my nights as a touring Muso end like that ! Marseille looks great, and ashamed to say I've never been.
It’s a terrific melting pot
Leaving for Provincetown in the morning You too would love it there, so safe nobody locks the doors going to enjoy it for the week-Before the tariffs kick in 😝
Enjoy!
Another great video. Just tried to book roof top terrace - nothing showing on reservation site well into 2025 😅
Wowzer. We just turned up but we got the inside table
Like Twiggys backpack where can I get one
Wouapy!
Mr Boo was right about the booming. The France battle fleet was based there. When the Francie capitulated to the Germans, The British boomed the France fleet to stop it falling into German Hands.
Interesting didn’t know that
I always thought of it a a major Naval port. It was also a recruiting base for the Foreign Legion?
@@MeandMonAmi The French scuttled their own Navy at Toulon to stop the Germans getting hold of it, on 27 November 1942
Join the army feel a man join the navy feel 3😂😂😂
Might be worth Mr Boo visiting the doctor .
I ended up with a shellfish allergy in my late 40,s ...
Have to carry an EpiPen nowadays ....used to love seafood !!!!! 😢
Blimey. Only had a questionable oyster once before but it makes you wonder
Occasionally it works out but often doesnt!
Good memories!
La prochaine fois arrêtez-vous à la Quincaillerie "Maison Empereur" à 11:24 en bas de la rue. It’s worth it to visit! 😉
We did it’s in the video (‘Is Marseille safe’ )
Hmm, I really liked it. Looks great, vibrant, interesting. And drugs, well, try Amsterdam, Antwerp and many other cities... But is it unsafe then? Hmm.. i lived next door to a dealer, and the guy was more sad than dangerous really... But food allergies... I have plenty of deadly ones. And especially shellfish can be quite nasty... That's why I enjoy seeing you eating the stuff I can't 😂
We didn't feel unsafe at all.
Of Steel. You must have. 😂
Definitely an interesting city. You should have gone to the African restaurant - wonderful food (but it usually includes fish).
lol. Indeed. But in the final ep he comes up with a absolute belter of a place to eat
Special episode!! Watch Mr Boo turn into an Oompa Loompa. Only on Me and Mon Ami. He needs to buy the outfit as well.
Thanks
Sacrebleu. A real city complete with l’eau de pipi no doubt. Marvelous.
Oh yes, mind you you can get that in place garibaldi in Nice most days!
Could it have been anchovies? Get well soon Mr Boo.
Well a complete eye opener. La Maison Empereur is extraordinary. Perhapsvwhat Mr Boo ate wasn't actually sardine?
It’s a truly remarkable shop. A time capsule
We love Marseille and we loved your video. Pure comedy!
Seafood allergies are common, you’re eating bugs of the sea
More to come next week. We loved the market as we said!
I was in Menton and Nice last month. I wish I would have chosen Marseille, truly an authentic, organic city. I agree with you. If they went to worst areas of NYC or LA, you would have had the same experience.
Poor Mr Boo, stay away from sardines from now on 🙁
I think you got a bit dehydrated! Drink more water Richard!
I've lived about an hour North of Marseille for 15 years and NEVER venture into the centre. The closest I'll get is the Mucem Museum.
You don't know what you're missing
Wow! I thought London was bad enough for graffiti, but his place takes the crown....nothing to be proud of. Shockingly terrible and off-putting! Graffiti is one of the world's big visual social problems that no one knows how to tackle.
I am French and I agree with you
It could be tackled easily if the will to do so was there. I live in a UNESCO world heritage site and it has suddenly appeared everywhere.
Oh you’ve put me off ever going to Marseille it looks horrible
It’s not!
You paid for lunch what I give myself as an allowance for the week to eat.
Blimey, Mr. Boo is willing to do anything to create good content, isn't he? 🙂
Next week the red hot poker!
Marseille is sipped in oysters.
Wow Marseille seems awful-and I live in New York
It’s great!
I'm wondering if after eating too much fish, Mr Boo was turning into a lobster?
He’s morphing!
Interesting video. More, please! How considerate and how typically French, for Marseille to be so clearly zoned! BTW you did see police, as did your viewers in shot periphery, but not in official uniforms, just plain casuals and in male pairs. Subtle? Non! In plain sight...
bona vid
Thanks
Mister Me and Mister Boo and Elton and Twiggy 🐶🦮❤ Marseille, certainly different, graffiti, I'm thinking it's a bit unsightly, but that's one my opinion 😉 the shop that sold anything & everything was somewhere ya could spend ages mooching around 😊Mister Boo, the walking facts machine turnes a deep shade of red , looked like he been on gas mark 7😮😮 fortunately it got sorted quickly, very entertaining vlog, stay safe and well and obviously stay charged 👍 🎉
Thanks David it was quite a day!
Can anyone else feel sick or just you Tim? Is the world only revolving around you and what you feel at every moment? Love you, Mr. Boo.
I want yall to play Benny hill while Mt boo pats Mr poo on the head
Next destination: Lyon??
No!
Please slow down, moving your head, with the glasses filming 🤢 Really enjoyed it other than that. 😊
Tricky to film and walk another Fall over but its the only way to film we here a camera would not be welcome like the shop
While Marseille is very interesting,in its diversity, I much prefer your adventures in Elton . The mountain villages in France and Italy are more appealing to me . Marseille is different, but not in a nice way to me .stay charged.
Variety is the spice of life!;
