The think I don't think people understand is that in Smallville, Clark was Superman all along, he just didn't have a suit. The suit is not what makes him Superman. Yeah. Jor-El acts like a dick at first but we find out later that it was simply because he knew Clark was nearly ready to be Superman and finally fly, but knew the danger that Darkseid posed to all that and that Darkseid could exploit Clark's dark choices. Clark had to know that the edge he flirted with in S9 was going to now get people killed. Clark had to hit the proverbial rock bottom to build himself back the right way. Hence in 10x02, he ditches the black for the red and blues again and finally succeeding enough to where Darkseid physically attacks him and this allows Clark to finally reach full power
Smallville was my brother's favorite show because he was a huge of Superman, and the first time when I saw this show I was beginning to like it because it's just like watching a Superman show and it's also showing us of how Clark Kent will become Superman.
