    A lovely fairytale in 150 parts, but beautifully told. As far as I understood it’s about an octopus who goes on a direct drive to the races and swaps his third wheel for a banana split. He then meshes with someone called Ruby Rolla, who saps his power and steals his gear.

  • @AP-pg5dx
    @AP-pg5dx 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    I assume the only reason why they didn’t use a Lange Triple Split (or at least Double Split) is because they don’t have one in stock. Otherwise, i think it’s widely accepted that Lange have cemented their place as the absolute king of this complication, and thus would be the more appropriate example here.

      @@joybanerjee7354 No, he is quite right. Patek was so shocked by the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph that it took them till 2010 to develop their first own in-house chronograph. This one here is a Lemania caliber 2310 base, the same as the cheap Omega Speedmaster has, the same movement base... A Lange & Söhne shocked the world meanwhile with the word's first and till today only double split chronograph..., Last year they presented the triple split, beating themselves. While Patek Phillipe makes slamon coloured dials and hyped collectors go nuts... This movement here is also a shame, dull, lack of mirror and black polishing, chiped and totally scratched. A butcher watchmaker must have serviced it...

      @@joybanerjee7354 to add, als also double assembles every watch to ensure it works perfectly. Every watch is subject to the same ridiculous standard. Patek quality is more varied in their lower end watches. Also the Patek Philippe double split in question is 150 k.... You can get a triple split which is just objectively a superior watch for that bloated price.

    This is a very nice watch, but if I ever get a split seconds or dual split, it's going to be from A. Lange & Sohne. They took Patek back to school with the Datograph and haven't stopped since with their chronographs. Patek has been playing catch up ever since in that area of horology.

    This is the pure magic behind the vail of mechanical watches,, and I’m sure why so many of us are drawn into the gravity of horology. I find the pure mental and cognitive expression in pure thought, through a series of wheels, cogs and springs laced with alluring aesthetic practicality, a triumphant celebration of the human mind and spirt. In the words of Miles Davis “time isn’t the main thing. It’s the only thing”.

    Very nice explanation. For most people the inception of how this works at the technical level is very difficult to understand. The watch shown in this video is a very expensive watch. Patik in general are very expensive watches.
    The chronometer type watches in general are very complicated. When giving one out for cleaning and maintenance the work involved is a fair amount of hours. These are difficult watches to service. Designing such a watch is very complicated. These types of watches are expensive to service.
