This is only bits from Fantasy High, but there's a strong possibility I will make more if I rewatch Unsleeping City and Crown of Candy.

I kinda feel like Murph, Riz's player, started getting into it too into season 2 (of fantasy high), it started spreading. Although he does keep a better aim....

kristen is such a god-tier example of what super-strict parenting does to a kid though - like, equating funamentalist cult secrets with eating too much sugar is such a good joke but i also know former strict kids who are Like That
apparently ally actually grew up in a fundamentalist christian family, and went to a christian college. all these jokes with kristen are probably things they've actually experienced or seen, which makes it even better imo
iirc in a recap episode even brennan said that Ally's was almost a biography and Ally agreed it was

Ally is literally roleplaying their journey with their identity through different D20 characters and the arc this one takes is very much golden
It's funny how TTRPGs can be used in such a way to explore one's own personal issues. Like Erika Ishii stated in a podcast with Brennan that her D&D characters started dating women before she did
@A.M Sky to be fair I wrote this before Starstruck and Shriek Week, at the time my whole point was that they it was pretty evident what they were working through with each PC; a humanist, raised-religious lesbian haunted by doubt; a badass trans man with attachment issues; a soft boy that ends up finding out they are asexual and reconciling with their more innocent nature. All of them getting a wish at one point or another to (in Brennan's words) reflect the Philosophy Major in Ally. It was almost like every PC was creating the following one.
The fact that ally flawlessly and impulsively inserted kristen into the harvestman cult was hysterical and super smart at the same time. It worked so well with Kristens arc and added that next level intensity her character needed to really develop. It also just left Brennan baffled and was super entertaining to watch.

@@ahumanthatexists1468 almost off topic but I just found 'fire shield' the spell for wizards, rogues, and fighters- and I'm just boggled by the fact that it can both be a shield _of_ fire *and* _against_ fire.

But then you can choose for it to be a 'cold' shield, causing it to be a shield that blocks fire attacks.

Yeah, they have literally two more campaigns to end her climb up the ladder. I mean, Junior year will be about the Night Yorb no doubt, but maybe senior year will be about actual gods
I read some comments of people complaining about Ally's 'method of role-playing' I suppose you could say, basically saying that they're a 'bad player'. And sure it's personal preference and they might not have the best knowledge of the game mechanics, but you can't deny that they make every effort to make choices that are character appropriate, drive the story, are based in the relationships within the group and are often incredibly funny. I just think they are neat too ;)

I agree with you. Especially when it comes to that one instance where she says that she was raised in the Harvestmen. It definitely caught Brennan and the rest of the group off guard but I can’t help but feel like as if the story would be the same if she didn’t say that one line.
Considering Fantasy High freshman year was their first time ever playing D&D I think you can excuse then for not being a master of game mechanics.
Ngl ally was kinda just my favorite cast member in fantasy high, really good at both being hilarious and meaningfully driving the plot forward. Surprised anyone could h8
Ally is war guy now. best mechanics person at the table now.
Depending on the experience people are looking for yeah both Ally and Emily could be "bad players" but they are great role players. Emily is so good with making character choices. Ally is funny and plays their characters so well. I love them both. The make up of all of their seasons so far has worked well. A good balance of knowledge players, reasonable players, and absolute mad players. Also the GMs have been amazing not overly strict and letting their players play with consequences if need be.

I will never get over Ally just deciding Kristen was involved with the Harvestmen, in real time, without discussing or asking Brennan anything about it. It's such a fun and bizarre twist that definitely works even though there's no way Ally or Brennan had any way of knowing it would. It's just incredibly roleplay decisions from Ally, incredible DM adaptability from Brennan, super fun lore, and an incredible extra layer of mess to add to Kristen's arc.
I love that Murph just leaves to avoid pissing himself laughing when Ally and Brennan start talking about 'silky elves'.

8:13 I can’t tell what i love most about this clip: Lou’s mic cutting out because of his hair rubbing against his sweater, Ally completely failing to catch the dice after it lands at their mouth, Zac instantly face palming the second it happens, Emily’s cackle of laughter, Siobhan’s comment, or Murph ignoring all of it because he’s so wrapped in logistics.

Kristen Applebees unironically made me rethink how I make characters and the possibilities of PCs, purely because Ally is such an entrancing role player and is so fixed on character motives and home schooling- god I’d do so much for Kristen

Ally plays Kristen really well but I wish they'd kept the Christian girl archetype. There's just so much good material for satire in that. Kristen could've kept Helio while still renouncing the corrupt version of the faith her parents peddle. Like, "you know what, I'm not going to let you take away the thing I've loved and believed in for my entire life because you do terrible things in the name of faith." Maybe she was chosen by Helio specifically to reform the church or start a purer Helioic church. Idk, I just wanted to see more jokes about bible camp, bible study, bible stories as elementary school plays, campfire singalongs to hymns alongside Taylor Swift songs.
