I was born in the 1970's... I went through your middle age shock some time ago. In the 1980's the Internet was a concept of science fiction, but it was a real dream for me. As a boy I dreamt of streaming cinema, but I predicted/placed it after my death, somewhere around 2080, I'm glad the tech evolved much sooner.🙂
I envy the kids of today, that where born with mobile phones, affordable home computers under 5000 €, Wikipedia (no need to look through 100 old paper books, when you have access to the equivalent of 100 million books), etc. But no flying cars yet...🤔

Nirvana is a group. After the lead singer (Kurt Cobain) died his Drummer (Dave Grohl) started his own band Foo Fighters. One of my favorite bands ever.
Dave Grohl (Nirvana Drummer) is the lead singer of Foo Fighters and his drummer (Taylor Hawkins) recently passed away.

The funny thing about this album art is that the picture is prophetic. That baby (Spencer Elden) used his stardom of being "the Nevermind baby" to get chicks when he grew up, got a big Nevermind logo tattoo on his chest and recreated the album art in photoshoots several times. But recently, just before the 30th anniversary of Nevermind, he suddenly sued Nirvana for using and exploiting him on the cover. He's definitely chasing that buck, just like on the album art!😁

Nirvana MTV Unplugged is amazing. You get a real sense for the emotion behind Kurt's vocals.
BTW that feeling is called Grunge. Kurt has an interesting childhood. Spray painting things like "God is Gay" or "Vandalism is a beautiful as a rock in a cops face". Kurt also stopped a group of kids from beating on a gay kid in high school by walking up and kissing him on the lips in the locker room. He swam against the flow and was an absolute individual. For someone who died so young he left so much behind. RIP Kurt !

Your comments towards the end got to me man. I'm at least twice your age and it was common practice to listen to an album from start to finish. I kinda understand and it makes me mad that you are growing up in an age that revolves around the single. I'm glad you are actually checking out older stuff. Even the older hip hop as well. I can't listen to current hip hop but I can listen to the older stuff. It makes me wonder if I'm turning into the old man that thinks music sucks past a certain time, but then I also love 1960's-70's acid rock, Classic Rock, Motown artists, classic R&B and even "CLASSIC" country, not new country. New country just sounds like a Ford commercial along with a beer sponsorship. It doesn't have depth anymore.

So many people using streaming services and dont need to buy an album so artists can get away with a couple good songs that will get tossed on a playlist and listeners may never notice. I was 20 when this came out. I was into punk rock, thrash metal and all sort of underground indie rock. I nor anyone else ever thought Nirvana would be the break-out band. For anyone who wants to dive-in to the Seattle music scene, start with U-Men. They influenced a lot of others in the early 80s who ran with it a few years later. The Melvins are another although they never lived in Seattle and in fact re-located to California from southwest Washington. The Fastbacks are another great band who started putting-out records in the early 80s all the way through the 90s. But the U-Men are worth a listen.

Your reaction on the fourth track was very interesting. Makes me wonder how many rap fans feel like you that 3 good songs make a good album. Very revealing. An album really needs to win me over for me to consider it good, and by this I mean I have to love the majority of the songs, if not all. And there are tons of albums that meet this criteria, including Nirvana's "Nevermind". But also Foreigner's "4", most of Toto's albums, and too many prog and metal albums to list here. Okay, I'll mention two: Savatage's "Handful of Rain" and Shadow Gallery's "Tyranny". Give them a listen if you ever have a chance. Oh! A third one: Blue Oyster Cult's "Imaginos". I'll stop here or I'll be at it all night LOL.

What you said about how we consider albums good if they have 3 songs resonated with me. It's true, albums like this set a standard that's super hard to reach because it has 0 skips. It's one for the history books. But hey, you're really young and you're finding out what music you like at an early age, which is awesome.

You know JoJo, your 3 song comment hit me kind of hard. Back in the day, with limited funds, I needed to hear at least 3 songs via MTV or radio just to consider spending my money on it. I would always be ecstatic when I had more songs/deep cuts that I could get into and like it/the band more... to the point that I'd be like I wish they'd release a video/single for this track... That said, to your further along point about every song being good but when you run across good front to back albums they are very rare by any artist in any genre. There are a few I hold in complete album status that are good/great... or a term from back in the day--"all killer, no filler." I think today's digital music distribution method gets folks out of complete albums because they can stay to hits so easily without listening to the rest of it.
