@@andytraiger4079 Not really, if Nirvana never blew up. The alternative, and punk scene of the 2000s probobly would have never came and Rock N Roll probobly would have died. Granted Rock probobly “Died” from the neon Emo kids of the 2000s but Nirvana put Rock on life support imo.

@@mivvy3182 rock and roll will never die. punk and "alternative rock" are by and large crap in my opinion. They are based on the idea that musicianship and musical talent are bad things and that what people want is to hear music written by people and performed by people lacking talent. Through those horrid years of the 1990s and 2000s, rock went into hibernation. There's still good rock music being made through this hole period; it's just that it seldom gets any attention on radio.

@@mt77012 I'll stick with my definition unless you show me otherwise. Show me a punk band with as much musical and song writing talent as Pink Floyd, Rush, Led Zeppelin and so on and I will change my definition of what punk is. From what I have observed it's made by people that have lots of angst; but little talent.

Nirvana marked the boundary between the 80s and the 90s for music; they led to other grunge and alternative bands to take over and hairbands to fade from public consciousness. People are people, and they always have been. Throughout time, we show ourselves to follow trends and emotionally resonate with certain "attitudes" as we age. As we age, the music that speaks to a certain age can offer a nostalgic reminiscence; taking you back to when you were that 'rebellious young spirit.' Since the art speaks to that specific energy, it's able to connect with future young people that are experiencing it all for the fist time.

Hey Jojo, been watching a lot of your stuff lately and appreciate you looking back at the music from before. BUT one thing always bothers me in the comments, people completely disregarding rap music. While I don't listen to it much these days, the 90's had some amazing songs. So, Give a listen to Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise" and Tupac's "Changes" if you've never listened to them before.

Its not that ppl are disregarding rap, he is a rap fan who is reacting to music outside of his normal genre.. but ya rap from the 90s was awesome too.

I love Evan Peters version from American Horror Story too. I grew up listening to this. I was a high school sophomore when this came out. LFR JoJo is right, it set the mood for many parties and dates of mine back in the day. But I always loved hardcore rap. Nuttin but a G Thang came out back then too.

I think maybe he was saying "I don't have a gun" to mean he comes in peace, he's a friend, a man of peace. If Micheal Jackson was the king of pop, Kurt was basically the king of grunge, alternative rock. All the bands paid homage to Nirvana. They heavily represented that era.

The producer Butch vig who made the album Nevermind said Kurt's voice sounded like Nails on a chalk board. In the most beautiful way.I like you said there is something youthful about his music. It is and when you where a youth as I was back in the day I felt like he was singing to us. It was mind-blowing hearing Nirvana for the first time. My favourite band ever......

Yo bro, I love the fact that you dig (good) rock music as much as you do. You are correct when you say Kurt Cobain sounded like a sad soul. He was all the way until his (framed suicide) murder in 1994. Please check out "All Apologies." Another "sad soul" singer from the same time and music genre was Layne Staley from "Alice In Chains." Cobain died April 5th, 1994 (age 27) and Staley died April 5th 2002 (age 32). Also please listen to Alice in Chains "Down in a Hole" live.

On your description of how it makes you feel, I know what you mean. Nirvana was my older brother's music, but they were always present when I was in high school ('99-2003). I didn't like them at the time for complicated reasons, but watching reactions now there's an intense and surreal sense of nostalgia, but it's hard to describe.
Edit: This one always hits hard because of how Cobain died.

NOW you're going on the grunge-rock era journey!!! SO awesome to see just how much you love them...
    Kurt Cobain was the singer...
Nirvana(said like ner-von-a), was one of the four grunge-rock bands to come out of Seattle, Washington, there's also; Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden!! N i ALWAYS add Linkin Park...although they came out way later!!😁 They ALL have very distinct voices!!!🎤

The rock-hip hop mix had happened before Nirvana broke big, but it was still some years before that became popular. If he had lived longer, I suspect he would've collaborated with at least 1 or 2 rappers on some music. I liked a variety of styles, so very possible I think.
Check out the video for RUN DMC - Walk This Way ft. Aerosmith for the first big collaboration between rap and rock. It helped make Run DMC one of the biggest rap groups and helped revitalize the career of Aerosmith. And the video "DMC: The Real Story of Aerosmith + Run-D.M.C.'s 'Walk This Way'" talks about how it came to be. Has a nice message embedded in it.
