      Nope, there's nothing wrong with your turntable. Those AT-LP60 turntables spin a small amount faster than most records are supposed to and there's no way to adjust the speed. It's just how they are, and I know this because I had one as a beginner turntable years ago and I've heard other ones many times.

    I really enjoyed watching a young person's response to this seminal album. I bought it when it first came out - I was at university - and it was massive. Having been a Nirvana fan almost all of my adult life, I listen to Bleach, Incesticide and In Utero (this is actually the album with the hidden track) more often than Nevermind; the Unplugged album is a great showpiece for Kurt's voice, btw. Kurt has been dead for 29 years, and I am so glad that I was there when he was alive and producing this incredible music.

      A lot of gen z loves nirvana, however as a gen z myself I somehow didn’t hear about them until a year ago, so I myself am a newer fan. It’s still very common now for teens to wear nirvana t shirts and know who the band is, but some are still unfamiliar. I’d say gen x is probably the most familiar with nirvana since they’d be young adults or maybe older teens when they were popular, so it makes sense that gen z would like nirvana too, since some of gen x is parents to gen z. My point being, classics still live on, and the younger generation can still appreciate Nirvana as well as even older classics.

      @@user-xx3hc1io oh please, don’t gatekeep fucking music. I can enjoy whatever the fuck I want. I don’t like the pop style now. Not because it’s new, just because it’s simply not my thing. I really really love classic rock and always have ever since I could speak. This isn’t some act as you imply, I have a genuine love for music. Also, not all gen z are little kids. I’m an older gen z. “Get your own music” dude, you don’t own music just because you lived through its creation. I’m not “pretending” I know what I’m talking about, im genuinely fascinated by music and have every right to speak on it. You should be glad that music still lives on into other generations. Also, it’s not like I can’t learn about the music and stories behind it. It’s not hard to find information on that. I’ve been raised on classic rock. This IS my music taste. None of us are different for liking this music, so so many still love classic rock and you should be glad they do! Let me love what I love! I can understand a damn song without being around when it was released. I adore 70s music…it’s quite simple and easy to find further information on the music and understand the story. I never claimed to live through it or whatever, and I don’t need to in order to enjoy it. Again, I was literally discussing how IVE lived through it and how my generation has, so I never claimed to know what the music was like when it first came out. It’s true that the majority of gen z is aware of nirvana…there insanely famous. All I said was that I appreciate classic rock. And it is true that gen x was the main demographic for that sort of music in the 80s and 90s. I didn’t pretend to know anything, I was saying how much I appreciate how music lives on. Just because I’m younger than you doesn’t mean I’m stupid- you understand how a generation works right? There’s multiple ages in one generation. It’s literally a fact that the majority of nirvanas first fans are gen x. So I don’t know why your so pressed when I was expressing my appreciation for classic rock. This IS my music, I love it too. I’m not a kid, im an older gen z. So. Even if I was a kid….kids can still enjoy older music. I’m well familiar with this music, seeing as I was raised on it!

      @@user-xx3hc1io that’s not even a new internet term. I’m allowed to like whatever the fuck I want. I was raised on classic rock, you don’t own music. Be glad it lives on. You’re so immature to be pissed at someone for liking something. It’s weird that you, a grown ass adult, is wasting his time away on TH-cam just because a younger generation likes old music too. Maybe read my entire comment before pretending you know everything. And, I’m not even a kid. Gen z isn’t entirely kids. It’s mainly teens and young adults, maybe still a few tweens. It’s actually around 9-24 year olds, so no, I’m not a kid just because I’m gen z.I understand classic rock considering I took the time to research the artists I enjoy and I took the time to listen. Again, why try to “hog” music? It’s out there for everyone to enjoy. You, a grown man, should be able to grasp that. To me, you just sound salty that you’re old.

    I very much enjoyed watching you react to this. It's incredible that you didn't know the songs even "Smells Like Teen Spirit" or that Dave Grohl was in Nirvana. I mention this because you seem to have a working knowledge of music. It would be difficult to overstate the impact this album had. Prior to this there was very little "alternative" music to be found on the radio. Radio was dominated by pop music, popish hip hop (worse than Drake), maybe some 80's hair bands unless you were lucky enough to live near a college radio station. Then you would have access to Nine Inch Nails, Janes Addiction and the Beastie Boys who were releasing their genre bending album Check Your Head around this time. First Smells Like Teen Spirit crossed over to mainstream radio and blew the doors off. This lead to more tracks from the album and then other bands getting on radio and MTV. In no time the hair bands of the 80s that were lingering around in 1991 we told to pack their bags ushering in on of the bests periods of music ever. We would see the band come through Miami and play a small club that was fairly packed and within a year the same act would pass through again playing a sold out show at an amphitheater. It was a exciting time for music.

However it's not down and dirty Nirvana. I really like Nirvana Live at the Paramount it's on TH-cam. Recorded five weeks after the release of Nevermind, the footage is taken from the only Nirvana show to be shot on 16 mm film. So its high quality and visually pleasing.

    • @stephenlemieux912
      @stephenlemieux912 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not saying it's a terrible album, if not for Nevermind I never would've become obsessed with them at age 9. But after a decade of listening to them nonstop and collecting every bootleg cassette, VHS, etc., revisiting them in my 20s, and then yet again in my 30s, Nevermind fails to hold my attention as much as the rest of their output. It's not about overhearing the songs either. I've heard About a Girl, Heart-Shaped Box, their version of Lake of Fire just as much as Nevermind's hits. It's like another commenter said, it's too polished and doesn't represent them as well as literally everything else they released. Kurt himself later said he was embarrassed by it, calling it "more like a Motley Crue album than a punk record" and that the production turned out way too clean and radio friendly for his liking. I don't hate the songs on Nevermind, just these versions of them. I'll take any of them featured on Unplugged, Live at the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah or even the demo versions on With the Lights Out any day over their Nevermind counterparts.

    I love that you loved nevermind, it still amazes me that someone can listen to the first half of a nirvana song and be humming along by the end, yes its a pop style album but wait till you hear In Utero !!! It's still nirvana but you can hear Kurt's writing skills really shine, and it's so much more raw and powerful. You got a sub from me!! Please do more nirvana!! Actually if you can do some live video? Preferably Live and Loud, or MTV unplugged, or any DVD quality pro video of nirvana. Loving it dude🤘 I'm 40 yrs old and will be a Kurt Cobain fan till the day I die😢

    Something in the way was a problematic recording which is its own story in and of themselves. If you wanna see how they usually played it was captured better at the bbc recording of it. The finest performance of the song I've seen undoubtedly in my opinion is the Beehive Record store performance. They expected a few fans to show up for sneak peek at nevermind. The building could safely house 50 people. 300 people showed up and traffic was blocked out for miles. It was chaos for real and the the store was trashed to all hell and back.

    Great album, but overplayed and over produced. It's actually not a good representation of their overall work.
    That's not to say it isn't good. It's got great melodies. Just that it's manufactured, not the raw, passionate, genuine Nirvana some of us old fans grew to know.
    Still, to listen to this new, oh i would love that experience again. Enjoy, please enjoy.

    As a gen z I also recently got into Nirvana. Id say a lot of gen z likes nirvana, wears there t shirts, and are familiar with them, but somehow I was oblivious to them until a year ago (which is surprising since there so famous and I usually listen to old rock music and have gen x family members who love it). I feel like either people are clueless or very familiar with them in gen z lol. I think it would be cool if you listed to even older classics.

    I like how he interpreted in bloom because I’m pretty sure he got it spot on, and I THINK Kurt Cobain said something along the lines of “if your a racist or a homophobe, our music isn’t for you”. Idk how accurate that is, but I DO know that a definite quote he said was “im not gay but I wish I was too piss off the homophobes”. In other words, he was a cool guy. Also, if you dig deeper, im pretty sure Polly is based on a really terrible r*pe. Basically it’s a dark anti-r*pe song.
