    I once played this song and there was an ad at the beginning of some weight transformation thing showing before and after pictures of people in T-poses like a weapon select screen... I had no idea it was an ad and my audio was on mute, so I felt so confused like, "is this a game? Like for real, am I getting trolled?" and then I saw it was an ad and started dying laughing lol

      @@spunchbob6520 I totally forgot to reply months ago, my bad. not only I got past chapter 6, I even got to ending A (with my patience being shattered into microscopic fragments) but I refused to pursue and unlock the other 4 endings. at the start I got used to the lame and hyper-redundant gameplay, but then... my god. the more I played, the more it became just frustrating, pointless, repetitive and - most of all - unfunny. I've seen the other endings through youtube and ofc I've been obsessed over the infamous E one (I even ended up playing DoD3 and reading the novellas, in these later months). overall, I just think the DoD experience is mandatory for Yoko Taro fans, despite it being half a mess. experiencing the first game, even in its paroxysmal nature, it's great for understanding how this crazy genius works. so, even though I left the game 75% unfinished and found myself cursing it multiple times, I can say it's a worth experience (and yes, partly thanks to the insane soundtrack :P)

    • @spunchbob6520
      @spunchbob6520 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@siddhartino you are so much braver than me. i like to think of myself as someone who can withstand shitty gameplay as long as everything else is good, but my god, chapter 6 is where the game broke me. it probably helped a little bit that i couldn't hear the soundtrack most of the time, but getting spitroasted by 2 undead soldiers that hacked off half of your health in 2 hits made me quit the game. yoko taro reaching mainstream success with automata is unsurprising because his other games were huge slogs. despite everything about the game, i really hope it gets a remake one day.

    • @siddhartino
      @siddhartino ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spunchbob6520 yeah, both DoD1 and Dod3 need remakes, but it sadly won't happen (not for now, at least) and if they're going to make a lazy work as happened with Replicant ver. etc. then I'm not even going to buy them. and I agree regarding everything else: Automata is the only Yoko Taro game that not only it's fun to play (stupid-ass side quests and run B aside); it's even the only one whose overall narrative is well-built and executed throughot the story. or, at least, it's easier to comprehend without having to check ton of extra material (and I'm saying this as a big Nier Gestalt/Repl. lore lover...)

    This is the most evil twisted thing I've ever heard. The music and the game itself are possibly the greatest representation of a horrific apocalypse, tragedy par excellence. Truly special.
    The feeling all of this elicits can't be too far off from the experience of a paranoid schizophrenic.
    The horror of existence in musical form.
    If a composer made this in the times when the church was strong, I find it hard to imagine they wouldn't have been burned at the stake on accusations that they were in league with the devil himself. The clergy would've probably had some horrific nightmares.
    If an evil fate drawn by an evil god would make itself known to you, this is what it would sound like. At least Satan is a humanist. Chill dude.

      The main melody comes from a track from the Juuni Kokuki anime (The 12 Kingdoms). I can't find the track online but it plays at the end of episode 6 (which you can find on youtube easily). The scene it plays in is the main character indulging in her bloodlust much the same as Caim from Drakengard. The sample seems like a very deliberate choice.
