I always considered this soundtrack to be a substitute for Caim's voice and mind; the broken and ceaseless chopping his life had become. He couldn't express his rage verbally since his pact with the Red Dragon, not even in a scream, so the soundtrack worked to emulate this living horror instead. This soundtrack isn't weird for the sake of weirdness; far from it. It's a masterpiece from start to finish, where every bar pulses with the theme and meaning that saturates the game as a whole.
When I was a kid, there was a professional printer with a really big machine just next to my home. And in summer, with all windows open, I used to hear it work and this music reminds me of it because it sounded quite like that part 0:15
@@Chibispore Give Ace Combat 3's soundtrack a look. Morceaux and Virgo sound very similar to this. Incidentally, Ace Combat 3 had the same producer and some of the same team as Drakengard, though not the same musicians.
1:52 the weirdness of the random upbeat theme that plays in the song, probably representative of Caim randomly remembering a happier past before all of this. Soon after it's overpowered by his intense hatred
I was thinking more euphoria hitting at the new, terrifying power he acquired and the thought of how he'll now gleefully turn it on the entirety of the Empire.
Starting descending brass sample at 0:00 to 00:15, 0:48-1:05, 1:35-1:52 sounds like Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake (Suite, not the whole ballet), Movement 2 (Piu Mosso), around 2 minute mark. The sample at 1:52 sounds a bit like the beginning of sinfonia (intro music piece) of Mozart's "La nozze de Figaro", but I am not 100% sure. The soundtrack info says that there are samples from this opera, and this part is the only thing that sounds like Mozart's Figaro.
Funny how the first chapter’s On The Ground & In The Air are more soothing to the ears (in my opinion) because literally every track afterwards gradually devolves into madness 😭😭😭💀
Personally, I prefer to imagine this while the protagonist corrupts themselves in order to fight the antagonist, rejecting anyone's help. It's THEIR fight. THEIR hunt.
Objective: Your best friend may have broken all plans, but he gave you a chance to live, and you can now feel him through the mutual hunger between yourself and your original self. Claim Kingdom Hearts and use its power to save both. Devour anyone who stands in your path.
What are your cartoon about ? Also, don't martyrize yourself. I also listen to this while writing "Kingdom Hearts" fanfiction. In fact, I even reference the OST in the story.
i could care less about the story and gameplay of this game as the story itself isn’t really all that interesting personally for me. however it’s soundtrack perfectly fits the madness and tediousness of killing everyone you can. god i FUCKIN love this soundtrack it’s so demented and odd and it fits with the mindnumbing gameplay.

It's not that deep I think
it actually is
@@novustalks7525 why does someone always gotta say this shitty phrase when anyone analyses a piece of media they like
@@flobster because it really isn't
@@novustalks7525 that is not the point here
I like how it’s simultaneously majestic and terrifying.
It sounds like disk is skipping, but it's not
Immensely awkward and screwed
I thought there was something wrong with my copy, until I heard the song progression. Lol

that's one way to describe it
I find the skipping oddly disturbing. this soundtrack breaks all conventions, I swear.
and I love it tbh, not something I'd want to have in every game though
You're correct, it's nothing short of avant-garde and I've never seen anything quite like it in another game

Do you know anything about the mad lad that composed this masterpiece OST?
Did they ever give him free reign again?

Or it could be just a representation of him getting euphoric and satisfied with the absolute slaughter and bloodshed
He's always wanted to fly with a dragon! :D Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Is there like a 10 hours loop of just this part?
i viewed it as how victory is at sight, caim just needs to kill more enemies

Great job identifying the sample sources! 👏
It's all just a lead up to 1:20.
It feels so awesome.

honestly imo chapter 1 on the ground is one of the more chaotic tracks in the game, that track gives me headaches
still cacophonous as fuck lol

Ohh Kasumi!
chapter 1 just eases you into the insanity
When I first played this game I thought the emulator's sound was glitching
0:32 Weather Report theme
this entire soundtrack replicates what plays in your head when you took adderal, part of a music repeating in a loop
Based schizo soundtrack
Best description ever! 😂
Just the beginning of Caim's madness.
this theme just says "Now you've done it!"
Essa soundtrack é incrível
Really keeps the tension up, huh
This track loop too much and yet it is very memorable. Works very well for the type of gameplay in store.
The world teeters on the brink of chaos, its fate now in the hands of one man.
This kino is about to be 20 years old and I only just discovered it.
Welcome aboard chief

I was gonna say "nah it's not that old!" And then I remembered my age...

You must be a 10 year old who unioronically thinks caim is cool
This song should be a staple in any horror movie when the antagonist chases the protagonist only to be met with their impending doom.
Personally, I prefer to imagine this while the protagonist corrupts themselves in order to fight the antagonist, rejecting anyone's help. It's THEIR fight. THEIR hunt.
I only wish we also had the variation that plays during the movie cutscene where Caim finds Angela. That's equally good
Excellent.
this is peak
Indeed.
It's interesting how it's got a 50's broadcast show feel to its music.
1:52 i can listen to this all day

What on earth is happening in the game while this song is happening?
killing
war
john murderhobo becomes worst friends with a deadly dragon
Caim murders an entire army with the dragon he just made a pact using his voice as a payment. And also slowly descending into madness.
Genocide
where do you source this OST from? this has been reposted 4+ times since 2018, i assume someone is DMCAing it for whatever reason.
