I’m a 62 year old woman who was a Republican. Didn’t vote for Trump in 2016, but voted for a republican candidate that did not have a chance so I really voted for Trump. I Left the GOP for the Independent Party upon Donald’s win in 2016 I learned my lesson and voted Biden (first time ever voting for a democratic presidential candidate) in 2020. After watching Jan 6 and the crazy, delusional MAGA cult take over my life long party I became a donating Democrat

If you're interested in the history of Project 2025, there is a precursor. Google The Lewis Powell Memo of 1971. It's the blueprint for what they've done for the last 4 decades, everything that has happened to us since Reagan will make complete and total sense. The hollowing out of our democracy and our middle class was by design. Citizens United was the last nail in the coffin for the free market. The wealthy and corporations were able to gain control of our democracy and now they're coming for democracy itself. It's chilling... But it puts everything in context. Nothing the GOP has done wasn't carefully planned, they've been pragmatic and patient. They're so close. This is our last chance at not allowing the country to fall. I'm not even sure our votes will matter. The rich are never satiated or satisfied. They want it all and all these rights and liberties are annoying to them.

My story is the same, Tara. Once a Republican. Part of the Evangelical movement. When Trump came along I said no way. I’m not voting for that man. And I had to leave the Republican Party. And when I left I looked over there and thought what was I thinking. I wasn’t. I am so happy to be a Democrat. I love people and I don’t want to take a way anyone’s rights.

THERE IS NO REASON that any non-medical person - judge, legislator, priest, king, president - should make a medical decision for any other human being. ABORTION is a medical procedure; it is THE ONLY CORRECTIVE procedure in case of a partial miscarriage, in the case where the body rejects fetal tissue; or someone needs to end a pregnancy. Years ago. I was pregnant with Stephanie Sarai; there was no heartbeat. They had to remove the fetus or I would die. I suffered as I waited for my body to expel it naturally. When my body did; they went in and cleaned up so there was no tissue left to create an infection. I shudder when I think of what women go through now in Abortion Ban states; screaming in pain from Sepsis, and worse - when idiots, with no medical credentials or understanding created these laws based on their ignorance and stupidity. Donald Trump deserves worse than prison for this; if he can feel the pain of Sepsis! But a lifetime in a prison cell will do.
Similar situation, people who never go through this, don't understand how emotionally and physically awful it is!
Its all about control and men that make these laws dont care about women children or babies. Someone I knew the baby died inside her womb at 6 months. She didnt have enough medical insurance to have the dead fetus removed. It was so heart breaking horrible she was a young white girl her skin started looking green you could something wasnt right . I kept saying keep going everyday to the hospital they cant do this. Her boyfriend her family watched her get weaker and weaker right before their eyes. They felt so helpless. It was horrible and so sad. She found a family planning place and they removed the dead fetus and saved her life. No one should be able to dictate a womans health except for the woman herself.

I lived in Tennessee for a year and was absolutely livid when i registered to vote and they had the question on the card they sent me asking how i voted in the last 10 elections. I immediately filed it in the trash where it belonged. No one has the right to ask you how you voted.

In 1969 when I was 19 years old and expecting my first son I had been in labor for two days at home and 24 hours in the hospital the doctor induced me to strengthen my labor. I had a cold and was running a temp of 102. They finally were able to get forceps on his head to pull him out and got his head stuck in the birth canal. At that point they wanted to do a C-section. However because I was under 21 my husband was my guardian and they had to find him to get his permission. I have no idea how long it took because I was barely conscious. Wouldn't it have been nice if I could have given permission. That is what we will be going back to if trump gets elected.

@@terithibault6717 Around that time, my mother had an ectopic pregnancy. The nearest hospital was less about 2 -3 miles away and was operated by the Catholic Church. The nuns wouldn’t allow the doctors to do what needed to be done…the doctors didn’t want to anyways.
My dad had to drive her to a community hospital a lot farther away while my mom was in so much pain, her fallopian tub could have burst at any moment.
I can’t imagine how terrified they both were. I was 3 or 4 so it must have been 1974 -75.

Fascinating factoid: None of the women at the Seneca Falls Convention lived long enough to be able to vote, a right they worked all their lives to secure. A little girl, a daughter or granddaughter, was there. She alone lived long enough to vote. Think on this when discouraged, impatient, or despairing that the good goal you strive for will never happen. We’re here to change the centuries not just our own days.

I hadn't thought about how important it is for fathers to have daughters because of the kind of bond it can create and points of view it can give to the father. I am a girl's uncle and she and I have had a strong bond since she was a baby and I saw her through babyhood, childhood, high school days where she graduated with straight A's and finished her college degree in three years and is now a mother of two, a working mom and always comes to me with celebrations in her life. I will keep in mind from now on how those who are leaders in our country are potentially harmful or helpful to her life. She has been lucky to get her student loans forgiven, enabling her and her husband to buy a new home, etc. I love COTS, the Seneca project and Tera Setmeyer is an excellent guest with Denver Riggleman. Over 23 minutes in and they've avoided saying homophobia. I have no illusions that in the next 10 minutes, they will. Conservatives can pretend we're not here but we've always been here and we have political power. We're over 10% of America. Considering how many people actually vote in this country, our 10% matters. She shows there are still conservatives out there deserving of respect. As a liberal, I stand by her and what she has created. We are at such a pivotal time, other specific political differences don't matter, because if we don't all join behind Biden to stop Trump, there won't even be space in the future to discuss those political differences. While Biden was never my first pick, he's done some good things, and whatever I think of him, in the end I'd vote for a banana over Trump, so voting for Biden is a no-brainer.

My Mother and Aunt were an active part of NOW (National Organization of Women) in the 1990's. They even went and marched on Washington. My aunt was the Democratic Party chair for our county. She and my mother worked to balance the scale for women with equal pay for equal work, quality childcare and healthcare. They would be APPAULED if they could see what is happening now.
