Most of us serve small churches, and a lot of us live in parsonages - which means we can't afford to buy a house to retire in. I've retired recently and am scraping by. But my faith and preaching has always been based on how we treat the underdog, both as individuals and as corporate groups (that includes governments). So guess how I'm voting? 💙

As a Christian woman, I am embarrassed the way these people portray us. Abortion save this Christians woman’s life four times. And fertility bless this Christian woman with a child. If I wasn’t able to receive a medical abortion, which is no matter what they say Women’s Healthcare I would have died. As a Christian, I would never think that I would ever get an abortion. And believe me every abortion I had I wanted my baby. It is one of the hardest decisions I had to make. And I am so thankful I was able to sit with my doctor and my husband and make these decisions without any obstacles. Believe me, you are emotionally & physically drained, and you don’t need any other obstacles in your way. You especially don’t need the government making your decisions about your body.. If you are a Christian and you don’t want to get a abortion, don’t get one. No one is telling you to do it. Just stop telling people what they should do. This is women’s healthcare these people are playing with and for millions of women it’s life and death.
The Christian nationalist believe every pregnancy is a safe, easy, natural process of a woman’s body just like a dog having puppies. They banned abortion without consulting any medical professionals. They banned abortion with zero knowledge of issues that can develop during a pregnancy with the woman or the fetus. I remember a guy in a state legislature asking why are there exceptions for ectopic pregnancy? The misogynistic fool couldn’t even bother to google what an ectopic pregnancy is. I had one and now I hear they are not treating women with an ectopic pregnancy in a timely manner. There is nothing Christian about these religious sickos who advocate for cruel, inhumane treatment of girls and women.

It is truly women’s healthcare. For millions of women this issue is life & death. And it shouldn’t be in the hands of the government. I remember taking birth control as a teenager just to regulate my cycle. I wasn’t even sexually active. This issue is so much bigger than women not wanting babies.

The Republicans are trying to purge voters in multiple states. They purged hundreds of thousands of voters in the last 5 elections. They usually do it in September. One election, 2012, or 2016, they purged voters in Texas. They would have gone unnoticed, but they purged a Republican judge. She was white, but had an ethnic sounding name. She had voted in every election, so she didn’t fit the criteria that they claimed.

Please don't think these extremists who label themselves Christian are accurate. Jesus gave very clear teachings that they completely fail to follow, therefore they are not followers. There are true followers who support and vote for leadership which gives tax breaks to the poor and middle income, supports having the richest pay their fair share, support kindness and acceptance, civil rights, reproductive rights, women's rights, honesty, environmental protections, gun regulations, funding for public education, forgiveness, corporate regulations to protect the safety and finances of regular people, and embrace a loving and diverse society. These Christians tend to vote for Democrats or independents because that is who is trying to support a fair, safe and happy society instead of a grift for the richest with dystopia for everyone else. These are also the people you meet out in society working and volunteering to help those in need for the most part. There is a big missing piece of caring and logic in the extremist right message, a selfishness.
Don't have nightmares fight against Republicans while you still can vote up and down the ticket and remember some of them have gotten so clever they run as Democrats and then switch once they've been voted in so make sure it's a real Democrat

And they have contracts with "independent" news networks that they can mandate content. It is really malignant, people think they are listening honest local news, independent journalism, but most are just paid propagandist for Murdoch and right wing networks. This is one of the reasons why public funding of independent news should be mandated to give the rich competition. Also there somehow these media corporations should be chopped and that make it illegal to different companies have contracts that give other companies control of their news coverage and content. And gossip channels should not be able to call themselves news. Only if they independently verify news and try to be truthful and fair, then they should be allowed to call news. Also news channels should be obligated to publicize the names of their funders and advertisers and how much they give money to channel. Communities should be obligated to fund local reporting in a way that politicians cant decide who gets that funding depending on who they like. Perhaps they can give funding to journalists who have widest reach in the community etc.

This is amazing. I was in a right wing evangelical fundamentalist church, but had no idea how extreme it was until I asked the elders to allow me to join the men’s group as I was tired of the three topics the women’s group was subject to every year,
- How to be the wife of a happy husband
- The marriage act and how to make it good for the head of the household (the husband)
- Cloth diapers v. paper diapers, & nursing/breast v. bottle-feeding
Year after year, these were the three topics/subjects that we young mothers were subject to and only these three topics/subjects.
Because I had memorized 33 books of the Bible and knew the Bible better than anyone in that Synod and in that region of the United States, I petitioned the elders in the church to let me join the men’s group, I 'needed more than what was offered me in 'the 'Young Women's Group.
My husband, who became my ex-husband, bagged the elders not to let me join. I don’t remember exactly how long it took the elders to decide to let me join the men’s group, but the elders did approve my admittance into the group.
I was shocked in the first place to realize that the men did not utilize their Bibles at all, but instead discussed overthrowing the United States government and replacing it with a theocracy. They discussed what and how they would employ/dismantle the education system, the courts, reverse Roe v. Wade, how to dismantle human services and replace it with faith-based services (and would determine that only people who confess their Christian belief system would be accorded support and or help, everyone else would be left in the cold).
My ex 'was tasked with redefining "words," like 'liberal (far left, evil), pro-life (zygotes over women's bodies), inheritance tax (death tax), drilling for oil (in the middle of 'the oil field/exploring for oil)...
Whatever naivety I possessed up to that moment in time 'was stripped away in the course of 'several 'of these 'Young Xtian Men's Bible Fellowship meetings. (No wonder my ex didn't want the elders to grant me entrance into the group!)

I went through the roof, brought it to the attention of the elders, and when they didn’t care, brought it to the attention of the public… sealing the fate of my marriage.
And then I lived through a six-year long custody battle, and I have been sounding the warning of this subset of 'Evangelicals ever since… People called me crazy, they said, "Where are you getting this stuff!?"
This was in the mid 80s through the early 90s. And the quote, Denver Riggleman… 'my ex-husband used to say that quote,
“Conception begins at erection.”
And what he thought that entitled him to was abuse, Sexual Abuse of me and the right over the "Virgin of his daughters…"
Yes, he groomed my daughters and violated them (I walked in on him, it was hardly something I could say didn't happen), and I fought for their protection for those six years, before the senator of the state we lived in stepped in… But that’s another story.

@@viveksmom Actually, my girls are doing far better than their mother. The trauma and brutal reality of fighting for my girls and extracting myself from this religious group was just that, brutal. I was alone, the church, then the outlying community, even extending to the region of the state in which we lived shunned me; members of my own family have shunned me (even these 35-39 years later).
My girls have thanked me, realizing who their father is and what religious garb I pulled them from. Yet, I suffer from the complications of Complex PTSD, which is at times very difficult to manage (and that hard on my girls).

Also go deeper into the website hosts and sponsored TH-cam channels. As for the Roman Catholic Church…do not lump the church into one bucket. Pope Francis just excommunicated Cardinal Vigano…one of the leaders of the arm of the Catholic Church that holds the positions you are referencing, the highly regressive conservative arm that wants to return to pre-Vatican II doctrine. Most Catholics do not agree with these positions. Track the accountants and others I mentioned….through the families. Underneath this is a power fight between religions and against women. They are terrified of educated, independent, strong women. Humor works. But….both of you stay safe. These people you are profiling are determined, networked and powerful. Dangerous too.
