(EDIT: The particular Kindle book I was attempting to use is not WhisperSync compatible, La Chica en el Tren) If you have and Android phone, this feature may not be available. I want to do immersive reading for language learning. This is especially important for advancing past an intermediate level in a language. I do have an iPhone that I do not use, but I really do not want to maintain 3 phones. I will probably buy an iPad which would be a better form factor for reading

Hey there! Congrats on your new Kindle...your reading life is about to change forever! Your Kindle eReader can play your audio books via connected Bluetooth device, but Immersion Reading (where the words highlight while they are being read) is only a feature of the Kindle app on your phone/tablet. But don't despair! You're going to discover your Kindle is your new best friend, and it's ABSOLUTELY an improvement over reading on your iPad! I'm happy to answer any questions you have, but here are a couple vids that might help you get the most out of your Kindle eReader. Good luck!

Hi there! Thanks for the great question. Here's what you need to do:
      1. Verify the title is Immersion Reading Compatible. The most sure way to do this I have found is to go to Audible.com and sign in. (You must be signed in to see the info you need.) Find your book. In the details of the book description, look for the phrase "Whispersync for Voice-enabled." If you don't see that phrase, it won't work with Immersion reading. I've found it's rare, but it happens.
      2. Buy the Kindle eBook from Amazon.
      3. Buy the audiobook from Audible. Since Audible is an Amazon company, you can buy the ebook and audiobook at the same time from Amazon if you like. Also, if you own the Kindle ebook, the Audible version will be greatly discounted. So buy the ebook first.
      4. Open your Kindle app on your phone or tablet (Not a Kindle eReader. This only works on the Kindle app). Go to your library. You should see you new book, and if you've purchased a compatible audio book, you will see an image of some headphones in the top right corner of the book cover image. If it's not there right away, close and restart. Sometimes it will take a few moments.
      5. Open the ebook, then tap at the top of the screen to open the ebook menu. At the bottom of the screen you will see an option to download the audiobook. Download the audio book.
      6. Once it downloads, you can play the audiobook from that same spot at the bottom of the book screen.
      Hope that helps!

I confirmed looking at this book on audible.com that it is compatible with Immersion Reading. Here's how or should work.
      1) Purchase both the Kindle ebook and the Audible audiobook
      2) Open your Kindle App and download the ebook to your device.
      3) once the ebook is downloaded, you should see the option to download the audiobook. Download the audiobook. The controls will be at the bottom of the screen when the book is open.
      4) once the ebook and audiobook are both downloaded, you can play the audio book with the controls at the bottom. This will trigger immersion reading as described on the video.
Did that work? If not, tell me what part is tripping you up.

So you can put them on your tablet and listen or read them from your tablet, but you can also use them on other devices. For example, if you put the Kindle app on your phone, you can read or listen to the books on your phone as well. Immersion reading will work on your phone too, the same way it works on your tablet. 1. Buy the Kindle eBook from Amazon. Be sure to check the details of the book description for something that says "Audible Book: Available." If you don't see this, then they haven't synced the eBook and audiobook together yet. MOST books, are, but I have found some that are not. If it doesn't say "Audible Book: Available" on the ebook description page, then Immersion Reading won't work.
      2. Buy the audiobook from Audible. Since Audible is an Amazon company, you can buy the ebook and audiobook at the same time from Amazon if you like.
      3. Open your Kindle app on your phone or tablet (Not a Kindle eReader. This only works on the Kindle app). Go to your library. You should see you new book, and if you've purchased a compatible audio book, you will see an image of some headphones in the top right corner of the book cover image.
      4. Open the ebook, then tap at the top of the screen to open the ebook menu. At the bottom of the screen you will see an option to download the audiobook. Download the audio book.
      5. Once it downloads, you can play the audiobook from that same spot at the bottom of the book screen.

However, what I received was the kindle version, and the audiobook version in the Cloud. I never could sync anything and less having the immersed reading. The Amazon support, kindle or Audible service couldn't help. So why? the reason could be because I have the free app for kindle and not any subscription for audible?, maybe was my android system of my cellphone that is not compatible with Whispersync? Or Whispersync just doesn't work properly as it should be.

    • @onemanbookclub2585

Hello! You don't need to purchase any subscriptions. As long as you buy the Kindle eBook and the Audile audio book, Immersion read should work. The books must be set up to be compatible with Immersion Reading, and it does happen occasionally that I come across a book that is not set up for it. The best way to tell if the book is compatible with immersion reading is to visit the audio book page at Audible.com. Look for the words " Whispersync for Voice-ready" in the description of the audiobook. If it's not there, then the book is likely not set up for immersion reading. What book are you trying to connect? I'd be happy to look for you.

Ha! Ya, it feels like that at first to me too. But I use it while working out, and as long as I can read the words along with the audio, it quickly feels quite normal! Infact, when I switch back to normal time it ends up feeling so slow!

@@onemanbookclub2585 I've tried it at 1.5 speed and it suits me better. I have ADHD so it might have a bit to do with it. Thanks for the tip, I'm going to keep at it.

how do you get the audio book (audible) to appear on your kindle app reading screen?

    • @onemanbookclub2585
      @onemanbookclub2585  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

If you own both the Kindle ebook and the Audible Audiobook and it's not showing up, try deleting the book from you device, then re-download it. That should work. If it still doesn't work, check to see that the books you've purchased are compatible with Immersion reading. Most are, but occasionally you'll find some that are not. You can check by looking at the book information on Amazon. If it says it's whispersync compatable, it will work.

@@onemanbookclub2585 Yes thank you so much, I was trying to use a book and an audio that apparently were not compatible. I was really hoping the book that I wanted to read would work. Do you happen to know of a way I can use an audible and read along with the kindle app? I just ordered a Kindle oasis but that only does one or the other.

I was typing that this is great for kids just before he said it lol. But I know the kindle fire tablets have this with their kids book they can tap the words and it reads it to them.
