How is it not a sequel. It picked up exactly where Time left off

*I'm re-reading this after many years--but as a book made of paper, cardboard and glue!*

I've just started this, as a fan of Master and Commander, and having read only Uprooted by Novick. It's fantastic. If you have little patience I'd probably start with the second book and then read the first of you like it.

The Great Gatsby has some of the greatest lines and sentences in literature. I love the book.

I'm trying this right now because I lost my 62 day streak 😂 it's not that much but I lost it months ago and didn't know I could do this.

I love the themes of empathy throughout the book--not just the animals of the island coming to accept Roz, but Roz coming to accept them in turn. Feels like it shows the kids reading it that just a little bit of understanding can go a long way and can be beneficial in fashions you might have never imagined before. I am very excited and hopeful that the film will bring this story out to entirely new audiences, as its themes feel especially pertinent in an age where it can be a bit too easy to spew vitriol at things/people one might not understand.

EDIT: IT WORKED just had to read for longer... 1 hour Original message..... (Hi, as of 23/9/24, this hack not working...my kindle has reset my reading days to 1, due to missing 22/9/24...😢 I've tried the method in your video twice, on 2 different books... not working... thanks for letting me know though. If you have another hack to reset that currently works, please share. I'm mourning the loss of my reading streak...😞)

The single best thing I have bought for my 2018 paperwhite is a tablet holder that grabs the headboard. I fall asleep reading, my Kindle goes to sleep, and it's right where I left it in the morning. No kindle falling on my face when I fall asleep, I don't even have to hold it. I just bump the right side of the screen with a finger, or honestly sometimes my nose lol

You can also just read on kindle and borrow the audiobook/ebook from your library! Libby, Hoopla, CloudLibrary etc. Doesn’t highlight the words but still effective immersion reading and lower cost.

I can’t find it on my iPad, it’s it because the feature is not available on iPads?

Thanks Dan. You made me curious and will add a few of the author to my Goodreads reading list. Looks like a great book for taking a break between large fantasy series. I know that you read Brandon Sanderson and the Wheel.of Time. Are you thinking to read other fantasy series? Like from John Gwyne, Joe Abercrombie or George R. R. Martin?

This was fun. I got my first ebook reader in 1998. I never looked back! Let me tell you! They've come a long way since the Rocket ebook. 😂

It seems there is a lot of plot points taken from Rebecca by Daphne du maurier 1938 (the Emily plot, the lower class girl living in a mansion, and more) unsure if she’s stated this

Just finished this series. So phenomenal. It shows how quickly people can participate in fascism even if they wouldn't think of themselves to be "bad" people.

I am really interested in a kindle but I want the colour version it makes everything more exciting and appetizing I hear there's one going to be released in 2025 should I wait or buy me the paperwhite version

There was a reboot, or a tv mini series in 2008 I never watched it though, I think it would have ruined it

The Oasis is the best kindle Amazon ever made and if they launch a new one with Type C, I will buy it on the spot. Page turning with buttons is great and the ergonomics is top tier!

That "fat" side to the Oasis and the Scribe make them a no go, for me. I would LOVE to have a larger screen with a balanced bezel.

I'm curious, has anyone found something similar for all digital media? I need to digest a lot of study material and this concept seems great, I'll be looking to ingest pdfs etc

I saw the 1945 film first (won a bunch of Oscars if i recall correctly) and years later i read the book. The film and book compliment each other so goddam well

I'm trying to fix something similar. But instead of my reading streak being broken, it's that the achievement refuses to update a complete for the perfect month. I can even see on my insights where all of the days of august are showing that they recorded me reading. And my overall streak says 46 days. It's been stuck on this achievement not updating for two days now. T-T

7 1/2 Deaths was NOT good. His actions stayed in each character every day he went into another character which I didn't like. And the whole virtual reality prison thing was pretty predictable. I guessed it about a third of the way through. Devil and the Dark Water I really liked.

I'd love to just sit down with him and have a conversation ~ but I'd probably be my usual awkward self and thus unable to speak. I've been on a pretty consistent diet of Adrian Tchaikovsky books for a few months now. I cannot fathom how he creates these worlds, but I'm grateful that he does.

I'm in this middle of reading this book. It is almost good but I keep getting the immersion broken by the constant , out of context reminder the there are white people in the 80's and how terrible it is that white people exits. It's like that was injected in to the book after the book was written. I'm starting to see the same thing in the super hero and star wars movies. So childish

I just finished and am heart-broken to leave all these characters….
