Well, canonically Ridley is dead for sure. It last remains of existence were the Parasite X's copy and it got destroyed and absorbed by Samus in the Fusion events. With no chance of reviving, reconstructing or cloning bullshit, Ridley literally has stopped to exist in the Metroid universe. And I haven't played Metroid Dread yet and I heavily doubt Ridley would do a comeback.
Didn't realize they stole Angurius's roar until you pointed it out. This isn't the first time Nintendo has done something like this though. In the Pokémon anime, Giratina and Lunala have Mothra's screech.

Smash Ultimate Ridley is the GOAT in both deisng and sound. It's like they took every element from the previous voices and made him sound like a true space beast.
I'm not sure if I prefer the more screechy voice or the deeper roars, but in recent years it seems like they've settled on a nice combination of the two.
I think my favorite voice is Other M. If they got one thing right in that trainwreck of a game, it was the sound design. (Also 0:29 is the same as Dialga's cry from the Pokemon anime)

Funny, as I've always associated that sound with him due to Super Metroid's impact on my childhood. But I never made the connection until now, despite being a huge Godzilla fan.

After his first defeat in the first game, he gets cybernetically rebuilt by the Space Pirates in Prime and Prime 3, loses some of his cybernetics as his flesh regrows in Samus Returns, becomes fully organic by the beginning of Super Metroid, truly dies in Super Metroid, then gets cloned in Other M (where his full life cycle is shown). His clone then gets killed by a Queen Metroid in Other M, and that clone's corpse gets consumed by an X Parasite in Fusion, that X becoming Neo Ridley, which then gets defeated and absorbed by Samus in Fusion, eliminating the last traces of Ridley as the station his corpse was on ended up self-destructing as well.

I think it's more the fact that the game cared too much about Samus' gender and how Adam is a bad character. My guess for sound effects mixed for Ridley's roars and screams in later games: Horse Dolphin Goose Pig Vulture Snake Crocodile Dog or wolf Leopard Tiger or lion Human
Fusion/Zero Mission is the best imo. Ridley is capable of speech so his roar sounding far more human is very fitting. Plus it's just so unique and immediately recognizable as Ridley while the others are just generic roars that could belong to any sci-fi creature
Just a reminder, Ridley is perfectly capable of speech and has verbally abused and traumatized Samus before. He just prefers playing the part of the monster that haunts her.
Ridley has not spoken in the games, yet has the capability to do so according to the lore. Imagine if after giving out that screech in Fusion he pulls out the Morgan Freeman voice and just goes "This is where Samus's story ends..."

Smash Bros feels like the perfect place for Ridley because it's basically a world of unending violence and I reckon our violent violet space dragon would enjoy the frenzy DESPITE the lack of bloodshed.

Fusion/Zero Mission is the best imo. Ridley is capable of speech so his roar sounding far more human is very fitting. Plus it's just so unique and immediately recognizable as Ridley while the others are just generic roars that could belong to any sci-fi creature

I like to imagine that some of the roars during the fights is him calling samus a bitch or a whore
Just a reminder, Ridley is perfectly capable of speech and has verbally abused and traumatized Samus before.
He just prefers playing the part of the monster that haunts her.
Ridley has not spoken in the games, yet has the capability to do so according to the lore.
Imagine if after giving out that screech in Fusion he pulls out the Morgan Freeman voice and just goes "This is where Samus's story ends..."
