Gotta say I really appreciate Metroid fusion having a unique sound for the omega Metroid, it actually feels different than the typical "large creature" roar and helps it stand out well, wish they kept that sound design

It's kind of cute how the Infant Metroid actually does sound a little bit like a crying baby, and such a nice touch how they kept the same effects but toned them down for when it grows up so you actually do recognize it to some extent. Makes the bond that Samus shares with it feel just a bit more real.

I still find it surprising that Metroids can't be infected with X parasites however they can and will be transformed by Phazon even so to the point that it uhh...hmm it created a Metroid with Samus DNA and enhanced greatly with phazon...interesting
Well metroids consume the life energy of living things, even though phazon is considered to be somewhat alive, it also is very radioactive and highly mutagenic to other live forms. Metroids were also created to help combat the X parasites and not phazon so there's also that.

As much as people hate Other M, I honestly like the Baby Metroid and Larva Metroid calls from that game the most. Feels like they match Super Metroid the best. Samus Returns Metroids are pretty awesome too. And it sounds like Dark Samus has a hauntingly human-like voice that sometimes sounds like she's even laughing. And now that Samus is pretty much a Human Metroid, her angry roaring/screaming could count now too.

I think the Famicom version of the first Metroid game had a different sound effect for the creatures. Due to the superior hardware, the sound should sound better than the NES version.
I'd honestly recommend Metroid II for the GameBoy, it still holds up pretty well. It may not be as in-depth as Super Metroid, but it's a huge step up from the NES Metroid.
It would have been nice for Dark Samus to have their noises from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, or at least something new but similar like what was done with Ridley. I think it's still cool that they are playable though, even if I also think that at least 3 or 4 moves could have been changed to represent things that Dark Samus uniquely does (I still think that Dark Samus having the same moves as Samus makes sense, though Samus' own moveset at this point doesn't really represent her as well as it could).

I don't know this for a fact BUT The infant Metroid sound from super Metroid might've been taken from Mothra (from Godzilla). The sound is identical. Besides, it makes sense considering they have used various sounds from Godzilla for other villains in that game.

They discovered how to cause larval metroids to undergo mitosis prior to the original game by exposing them to radiation, then they experimented on those to produce the other variants. Nobody knew about the natural life cycle of the metroids until the events of Metroid 2, which, as you will recall, takes place AFTER the Prime games.
