How does a compound turbo setup work

  • With traditional combustion engines you need more air to make more power, the amount of power a combustion engine produces depends on how much fuel it can burn and how good it is at turning that heat into mechanical force. Now with a naturally aspirated engine the only way for the engine to get air is thru the suction created on the down stroke of each piston. But it can only suck so much air. That’s where forced induction comes in. You are forcing more air into the intake, the more air you have the more fuel you can burn and the more power you can make. So how do you force more air into your engine?

Compound setup have a larger turbo feeding the smaller one.

Just when I think you know everything about cars, I find a whole different type of turbocharging. This was really informative🤝🏽

There was a tv series car show called roadkill and anytime a car would start overheating they would take the hood completely off the car, 😆 it worked.

Hi Mr C. Topic well covered. Thankyou. Do you care to tell us more about the efficiency in air flow? In take and exhaust. In the 60's we polished (basic steelwool and elbow grease ) ports and all surfaces. Also " re engineered manifolds with mild steel pipe with less bends🤸🤣

Ill go do some extra research😂, and try and make a lekker vid on it

Wrong. The trubo hooked to the manifold is smaller.
