Havertz was never a penalty. Shearer is saying he was entitled to leave his foot, but was calling Jota all the divers under the sun for going down after the keeper made contact without leaving his foot there for contact to be made. Had it been Newcastle he done it against it would be classed as a dive.
I don't get the whole penalty on Arsenal debate, either it wasn't a foul and they scored or it was a foul. And Billings did hook his arm around Raya's so I don't think VAR could overturn the refs decision.
I used to understand that point about playing on the opposite side from your best foot, but that was when I was 10 and my left foot was terrible. Many many years later, it's really hard to understand how any pro doesn't have the ability to play on both sides. It really doesn't take long to train your weaker foot.
I can see why Pep wanted Rice last summer and if he was playing alongside Rodri this season (which he could have done, being a 6 and an 8), the title would already be over and another treble would probably be on the cards. Rodri is the better number 6 and Rice is the better number 8. They both ought to be in the team of the year. 🙂 As for Haaland, it was nice that he said afterwards that he was happy that Alvarez scored and from a City point of view, it's definitely better that they're both in good scoring form going into the last three games. As for the title run-in, City have the chance to put the pressure on Arsenal by going first next weekend: if they beat Fulham, Arsenal know that only a win against Man Utd will keep them in it. I suppose it's fortunate for them that Man Utd look bloody awful at the moment. 😄

Let's just be grateful Rice chose Arsenal over City last summer, otherwise it would have been a cakewalk for them this year having both him and Rodri in midfield
Spurs don’t take any pride in defending, being organized, working hard without the ball or defending set pieces. But it’s no surprise because the manager doesn’t instill that in them. He is too attack-centric in his tactics which worked in Scotland when you’re coaching one of the two best clubs but it’s not gonna work in the PL with the 6th or 7th best squad and more competitive teams below you.
If Spurs have the 6th or 7th best squad, then him having them 5th shows that what he's doing IS working. Realistically, nobody should expect them to be anywhere close to City, Arsenal or Liverpool in Postecoglou's first season, especially having lost Kane. With regards to specifics like set pieces and defending, I think the point is that it's not that these details aren't important, it's that there are bigger, overarching concerns right now, like instilling a style of play and changing the mentality of the players and the club.
