Fore sure, if I didn’t need the money more I would be all over that. Making almost nothing on TH-cam all the sudden. I may get an old 2007 and build that out but I can’t keep this truck.
Sooo, I may be the rare individual that has kind of done what you're thinking about doing, and what you just did. I had a 2015 Tundra that I built out, albeit much more mildly than yours and less expensive. I went on a purge to get out of some debts that I had lingering and sold it and went to a GX470. I pretty much broke even on the Tundra. Didn't do much to to the GX470 other than a mild suspension swap and air bag delete. Then hurricane Ida hit and I was kind of needing a truck as I was making repairs around the house, had to rebuild a fence. I sold the GX for a profit after keeping it about a year and bought a 2008 Tundra double cab 4x4. I kept it for a year and then sold it to buy kind of my dream vehicle, a 2016 4Runner TRD PRO. Very well kept. HOWEVER, I was missing a truck for truck things after about another year. I bought a 2010 Tundra double cab exactly like my 2008 except this one has only 64,000 and was very well kept. I changed suspension to Eibach, new tires, wheels, headlights and powder coated the bumpers. Truck look great. Your build had actually kind of inspired me to make it how I wanted it. My plan was to sell the 4Runner. Financially this makes sense. But...I'm really kind of leaning towards keeping both and keeping them for a long, long time. Both of these platforms are tried and true. Both fill certain niches and I'm a big believer in the "two is one and one is none" motto. So my advice to you would be keep the Tundra. When it's paid off if you still want to have something to toy with find a GX or older V8 4Runner and you won't have to spend a fortune on the vehicle itself. Yes you have a good bit of money tied up in it, however it's still less than buying a new one that would be nowhere near as capable or reliable. Sorry, I know I'm long winded.
True, I totally get that. However I’m just not a “payments” guy and a big part of this wanting to sell it is because; 1. I do have payments on it. I took out a $15k loan on it when I had the cash to buy it outright but I don’t know what was thinking. 2. This one in particular was very expensive when a 2006 tundra would accomplish the same thing. I don’t want to get rid of a truck but this one in particular is just a ton of money and it’s still depreciating decently. So basically I’m paying someone to own a depreciating assent. 3. I could have a truck and a daily driver for the cost of this truck. This thing spends 90% of its time driving back and forth between my house and our air bnb so those city miles it gets like 10mpg That being said I love the truck as a truck. I have learned that I really am an SUV guy but having a truck is so amazing. I throw so much stuff in the bed and it just makes life easy. It’s a tough call. Ideally an old tundra and an old GX would be nice, especially when my parents told me they’d sell me their old forester for a daily for 7k.
@@OXFOOT yeah, I completely get the suv daily driver part. Actually, with a little more of your explanation, I'd probably sell it and look for a truck similar to what I have. I'm sure you know this but, the 2nd gen Tundra is basically the same truck from the 2008-2021. If you can find one that was well cared for you can get a good deal on an older model year if you keep your eyes open. I got lucky with my 2010, one owner and 64,000 miles. With tax, license and title I was right at $20K. The first gen Tundras are getting hard to find that aren't needing a lot of work and honestly the truck's fit and finish ain't even close to the 2nd gen if you ask me, and I owned both. If you do find a first gen that was taken care of they still do most everything you need a truck to do.
@@Smitty_76 I paid 40k (with taxes and dealer fees) for mine with the same miles lol. I’m always surprised that Toyota didn’t do a diesel option for the tundra. They would probably be the number one brand in the Truck world in the US if they did that.

Keep the truck, finish paying it off, don't pay attention to depreciation
It’s a tough one to stop looking at the payments but yeah I don’t have much left to pay anyways. Maybe I’ll just do an early payoff next year.
Would love this excact spec Tundra (color, accessories and all). Then I’d try to import it to Norway and convert it to diesel. V8 twinturbo diesel is king 🙏🏼
I’m always surprised that Toyota didn’t do a diesel option for the tundra. They would probably be the number one brand in the Truck world in the US if they did that.
@ Yes, it´s not like they haven´t had some of the most reliable and sweet diesel engines available since they launched the Tundra 🤷🏼♂️ Diesel V8 came with single and twin turbo, the evergreen 4.2 inline-6 with or without turbo is super nice, then theres the 3.0 D4D and now the current 2.8. They all should be an option for the Tundra. And the Tacoma.
Anxiously awaiting the overland scene to crash so RTTs are priced for the normie.
Yeah, I think they’ll just go out of business before it crashes unfortunately. But maybe. The overland community feels like its slowing down but maybe it’s just affecting me lol.
