I have the Fish Arrow heavy poop in two colors, haven't fished them much yet. I have caught fish on them though. They haven't made their way into my normal arsenal yet. I sort of forget about them most times. Your video reminded me I need to be giving them more of a try.
The 3.5" yamatanuki put in work for me but yes they are very easily torn, sometimes a 1 and done. You kind of have to horse the fish and keep them from thrashing around, when they jump and shake they'll almost always throw the bait off the hook. I started using wacky rig rings on the tips to keep them from getting thrown off so easily and I hold onto them when they get torn up and fix them with mend it and they're ready to go again. I've tried using screw lock ewg hooks but they rip out just as easy as it would with just a standard EWG without a wacky ring, except when they tear they'll core out some of the plastic at the tip of the bait and it wont repair as evenly, that's why I stick to an EWG with a wacky ring at the tip.
Loved this one guys! I've been fishing the Yamatanuki in the 3.5,but also the 2.5. Both killers! Especially the small one. I fish that in their purple laminate up here in Maine for river smallies and smash em! Also,Owner makes a screwlock hook designed specifically for use with Yamamoto baits. Saves me a ton on Tanukis. Otherwise just flip it around the hook a few times and find out! 😂
Use a wacky ring at the top of the Yamatanuki! I saw this in another video and it does help. The top doesn’t blow out as quickly. The extra pinched turd at the end makes it better than the rest imo. Bomba has the best value for sure.

I've learned with the Tanuki that when you go through the top its best if you do it a little off center so you can flip it and use the other side. We all thought the senkos got destroyed easy, these sucked last one bite per side

I see the monsterbass store now has your ultralight rod available for pre-sale, but it is just the rod not a combo, what reel would you recommend to go along with it?

Definitely try with screw lock swimbait hook keeps the tip from blowing out. Specifically use a large or X-Large cps spring from owner
