I had the same issue with my wifes Subaru imperza wagon. After swapping everything electronic. The cats were clogged almost solid. I knew I should have just LS swapped it in the begining.

I’m about to do the same to my 08 Rubicon.

Wanting to do basically the same thing to my 07 jk once my wife gets a new “mom car”
Both a truck bed and a v8 swap. Glad to see you share the process

Yeah I had to wait until I got a new daily before I could tackle this one. Thanks for watching

@@aguywithajeep with the oem cage being partially removed, does the ride feel sketchy/unsafe at all? I know you can have what remains reinforced, but you’re still drastically altering the original design of the safety specs

I added a rock hard sport cage to mine at the time of the chop so I never noticed any change to the cage strength. It’s it pretty bouncy going down the road though with very little weight back in the rear.

Great first Episode! When you said you were having a Misfire on the 3.8L, I immediately was like, "f**k". I am currently having the same issue on Cylinder 3, code is P0303. I have replaced the Spark Plugs (numerous times), checked the Gap on the Plugs (turned out to be fine), the Spark Plug Wires, I did a Fuel Injector Cleaning and then immediately after the cleaning, did an Injector swap. Still have yet to solve the issue. My next test will be Compression. Hopefully it is something minor and nothing to major 'cause I don't really have the $$$ to swap this motor... yet. I do plan on putting a 5.3L 325 LS V8 (Gen III or Gen IV) alongside a new Transmission (probably the 6L80) and a new Transfer Case. I've heard they are the most simplistic motors to work on in the modern age, and also can't wait to see the outcome of your swap. Much love brother, you've gained another Subscriber!

Thanks for following along. Yeah I chased a misfire forever but pretty sure it was just a bad cat. I’ll never know now because that motor is long gone lol

@@aguywithajeep Right lol. I straight-piped my Jeep about a year ago so I don't have any Cats, so that's one less thing to worry about I guess.

@aguywithajeep watched the whole series. Great information. However I wonder what happens to abs? What do you do with wheel speed sensors when you axle swap? The whole thing about taking the speedo out and the jeep working with all the usual circuits, is that a 2011+ thing too? How would I look that up or where?

Most people just delete the abs system all together. I disabled mine when I swapped in the one tons. You can buy tone rings and sensor mounts from artec (I talk about that in my 1 ton swap series) to keep your abs after an axle swap, but I never could get mine to work properly. I plan to remove the pump but I haven’t gotten around to making new brake lines yet. The cluster works the same way for the 11+ JKs but I didn’t speak about it because I’m not sure what all is going on behind it in those dashes. I assume it could be done the same way I did it.
I will do a video discussing the abs delete when I redo my brakes. Maybe this winter.

Did you have bad cats on your 3.8 you didn't say

  • @ChristopherCowin

The 3.8 sucks it won’t start after 180,000mile I owed one in my 2008 jeep wrangler Sahara unlimited and I had grabbed it with 153,873 miles on it and when I got to 180,000 it had to be pushed to start it luckily I had a manual transmission oh I would have been up the creek without a paddle

    • @aguywithajeep

Sounds more like a starter issue than an engine issue. The 3.8 is solid, it’s just a gutless engine
