Hey guys, I’ve already spoken to Cole @BlackMountainPicks and he’s helped me out with some suggestions, so stay tuned for another video where I give you more of the story on the range and how to get the pick setup right for you!

I live in the Black Mountains of NC, USA. I sat on Doc Watson's lap and he guessed my age when I was 5 after he caressed my hands for a few seconds. Magical!

I also like the smaller Bumblebee Jazz pick shape. The BM Thumbpick hinge may make it a bit more comfortable if you have a bigger thumb. I know the Bumblebee is pretty tight on my thumb so, i Have tried putting it in hot water and stretching it but it seem to have memory and tightens back up. I would pay the extra for the comfort of the BM Thumbpick but if you do not have a comfort issue I don't know why one would pay the higher price.

First, at $10, you hate to misplace one. After decades of misplacing picks I loved that comment on the black hole. I think the tension on the thumb with the spring makes it much more comfortable compared to a conventional thumb-pick. I’m still a bit apprehensive about it slipping off my thumb during a frenzied roll. I bought them last year from some Instagram post ..buy 2 get 1 free.
With some ultra fine sandpaper’s I use up to 8000 grit and a piece of glass or steel, you can shave off the raised print and keep it super smooth at the same time. Never even thought of using it with the banjos. So, would you grind down the width of it to reduce the profile? Great review, don’t stop with the pick

Black Mountain also sells these picks in a Jazz size. Terrific size.

They do make a jazz style one now as well. Great banjo styles as well!

@@AdrianWhyte be good to get your opinion of this pick in a months time. I stuck it out with them for a month now and find them very handy and comfortable, surprisingly I still have them and not lost them to the void as well 🕳️

I tried these a couple of years ago and the writing on the pick kept hanging up on me. Never tried them again. Did they ever remove it from the pick?

Yeah I agree, I ended up finding I could position them on my thumb slightly differently so that would stop, but I definitely felt it wasn’t the best positioning.

I've seen Raymond Fairchild a zillion times, too. Can you do a tutorial for Kicking Mule? I'd pay you $250 if I can actually learn that one. Ha!

Wow that one is wild, I reckon I could transcribe it but it would take a while! If my channel / Patreon was more geared towards banjo i would happily invest the time, although I might chip away for my own banjo pleasure! It’s amazing! I managed to learn the main head of UFO-tofu which is ridiculous, this one is ridiculous with the novel stuff more than the rolls chords and licks! (They are mildly ridiculous! Haha)

Sand the logo off then. Why go on about it so long?

If I was going to the effort to sand it off, that would be well worth a mention don’t you think?
