Audi SQ5 Disaster at Leeds Audi

  • New engine, new steering rack and now new front coil springs are needed! Are these items linked? Or just an amazing coincidence!?
Leeds Audi had this SQ5 for well over three months for a new engine under warranty, no sooner had it come back than the steering rack failed, this was replaced at a cost of over £3,000 and within c.100 miles both front coil springs are broken!
Q: Is the steering rack removed to take out the engine? And likewise the coil springs?
Or would it be the norm that Audi’s only last 5-yrs or c.50,000 miles ???

I've got a 2017 SQ7 here in Germany with something short of 114,000 km on the clock.
The only major problem I had was that both NOX sensors in the emission control system failed simultaneously. Our local Audi dealer fixed this problem as a gesture of goodwill and at no cost to me.
Otherwise I had the warning message in the first year that the oil level was too high. It quickly became apparent that this problem stems from the fact that diesel accumulates in the oil when driving short distances; if you fill up with "normal" diesel here in Germany, the diesel may contain up to 7% biodiesel, which evaporates poorly or not at all at normal oil temperatures of around 110-120°C and leads to accumulation in the engine oil. Solution: I had an oil change done and since then have only filled up with "premium" diesel, which does not contain biodiesel, and have not had the error message since then.
All in all, my SQ7 is a very reliable vehicle, provided that the service and maintenance intervals are followed.

We have a Q7 that went in for a service and a fault that was covered under warranty, whilst it was in they diagnosed that it had an oil leak on the upper sump that wasn’t covered and wanted £6500 to sort it as the engine needed to come out. I was suspicious that it wasn’t covered by the warranty so phoned the warranty department myself who said it hadn’t even been put through for them to authorise it and that it was likely to be covered. Went back to dealers and explained this but got ghosted by the manager until I phoned up and said if I didn’t get a call back by the end of the day I’d be going to the police to start proceedings for fraud. Got a phone call back, car went in and then less than 100 miles after getting it back engine went bang. They replaced the engine without question but left us without a car for 6 weeks. Even the service person that dealt with us on collection said the service we had been given was s**t, Thanks York Audi.

I was fancying getting one of these . I'm re thinking that now .I currently have an Audi tt that I've had 6 years and had no problems with whatsoever
I don't want that to change and suddenly get an expensive problem car

Main dealers are a joke.. I got stung once and never again. Had to threaten trading standards etc before I got a full refund. I now use a brilliant Audi specialist in Cambridge called Quattro-Tech..

German cars like this made in Mexico on the cheap.
    Says it all.
Like vw not premium any more.
Fords are more reliable than these supposedly superior brands.

That is incorrect but ok. German cars are far superior. Owning multiple of each, German cars are better built, better attention to detail, better longevity etc. there’s no comparison. That being said, Mercedes is by far the best of the big three luxury being Audi, BMW and Mercedes. Mercedes wins every time.

There is no comparison between the likes of Ford and Vauxhall and an Audi Q5. I’ve just made the move and the difference in the quality of the materials and the driving experience is huge. You can pick just about any make of car and highlight poor examples.
