I agree. RID/Car Robots has my favorite mecha designs out of the Transformers series. Fire Convoy, The Car Brothers and the Bullet Train Team all look really slick.
otherwise known as the personal theme song of Optimus Prime or Fire Convoy (as Convoy is the common word in that market over Optimus prime) and an epic piece of work
At the time this was being made, 3D was still new in testing, but still this whole thing should be in 2D, they are great artists and it really shows in 2d and not 3D.
I have a lot of nostalgia for RiD, and let me tell you, this opening is WAY better. Sorry, Saban, they beat you at your own game - wailing guitars will be always be better than wailing synths and warbling electronic voices!
William Rearick Care robot's japaneses quirks, oversuse of redeco, destronger being outnumbered and really bad dub made it worst. Plus it doesn't make sense.
It was for the Japanese Opening only, however I remember RiD using the 3D scenes from the Japanese intro for the Fox Kids eyecatches when it aired. (Mostly the scene of Optimus/Fire Convoy.)
Transformers is actually an American concept based off a Japanese toyline. However, Transformers also broadcasted in Japan and got several spinoffs such as this series.
Plus a leader for the villians with multiple transformations, nothing like it was done until this series. Plus it has a certain spark (no pun intended) that isen't with the other shows, that's why I like RID too.
There's also Snapdragon, Doublecross, Hun-Gurrr, mini-con Nightscream, and Cindersaur, I personally would include redecoes. Also, they were real dragons (A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's court, for example).
Bought the first 8-10 episodes on ebay before this was broadcasted on American TV. Fan Subbed.... I thought this was gunna be bad as after watching the intro.... boy was I mistaken
Because the toys which became Transformers were acquired by Hasbro (an American company), who then released them with all the accompanying backstory and stuff (Optimus Prime wasn't his own character in the original toy line) in the US, where they got successful. Hasbro has the rights to Transformers, so that is why a lot of the fiction is American in origin.
well....if ya go back and look...override/nitro convoy was considered the leader of speed planet, and evac/live convoy could be considered the leader of the group on earth before optimus and his crew showed up
"Written and recorded in America, and produced for American audiences, the series was animated in Japan and South Korea, and was based upon the line of transforming toys originally created by Japanese toy manufacturer Takara, which were developed into the Transformers line by American company Hasbro." That doesn't sound like anime to me.
Liking the CGI sequences and all, but I'm for the RiD version that aired between 2001-2002. I can't be bothered watching the whole thing through fan subs hearing another nation's language all throughout no matter how much that route is endorsed. On top of which the names they have for their characters just don't sit well with me anyhow. RiD was the same basically but a well handled translation wise (especially compared to the next 2 series to say the least) that I feel is sorely underrated. The events of 9/11 and the lack of home video releases stateside can sure affect how much of the show you've got if you didn't tape it back then. Thankfully, it was released in whole in some countries.
@atomofish Acutaly, it is considered to be part of the G1 (japanese) continuity. It happens between the event of season 2 and the movie - it said that Fire convoy protected earth Optimus and co disappeared. It was originally an alternate continuity until recently.
Are the Cr Autobot and destronger came from the viron dimension or they are really Maximal(posed as Autobot) and Predacons who transwarp to the 2000's?
Well technically this wasn't Megatron, this was Gigatron, so as far as I'm concerned they're two different characters, kinda like how I refer to Fire Convoy by his original name and not RID Optimus, since I think that it helps to keep them "individual". As for the design for Gigatron...hell if I know. I still think he's one of the strangest TF's in recent history (aside from, say, BWII's Moon or BWN's Heinrad...and possibly Moledive/Menasor from TF: Galaxy Force/Cybertron. )
@Geshpenst The CGI in the opening of this for the characters was never actually used in the cartoon. The American Version, Robots in Disguise, didn't use the CGI at all, this is the first time I've seen the Japanese version.
Someone explain me please, this is the real opening or is just like MLP and Xmen? I mean this and other TV series are from Japan and that version I saw in TV when I was a kid was a censored version?
@briancollazo46 Marvel only published the comics and co-produced the G1 cartoon. Transformers was based on Japanese toys to begin with, however the idea for factions (Autobots/Decepticons) and new names were the idea of Hasbro.
I agree that this is Gigatron. I think that except for the characters that were actually made in ameica, like Optimus Prime, or the first Megatron, the Japanese names tend to be better.
@atomofish Though in Takara-Tomy's case, they TRIED to retcon Car Robots/Robots in Disguise into G1 continuity in Japan, while in the US continuity, it remains its' own universe. Bryon
colleen4ever: "Wow!! I had no idea this was an anime. It looks unbelieveably cool. So, where does it fit in in the Transformers saga?" It's an Alternate Universe series. Meaning its not connected to G1 or anything else.
Look for Nelson Shin in the credits of the G1 show or movie. He's the Japanese man who directed the shows. Though, while it is "anime" in the strictest term (anime is simply the japanese word for "cartoon", like "manga" is japanese for "comic") the modern useage for "anime" describes stupid wussie cartoons for prepubescent whelps who may as well drool over those half-naked girls, because that's the most they are likely to see anyway.
You know the Beast era was long when the next Transformers series is literally called CAR ROBOTS.
Cant wait til ANIMAL ROBOTS
Can't wait for *PLANE ROBOTS*
Can't wait for *SPACE ROBOTS*
Can't wait for SUBMARINE ROBOTS
Can't wait for SUBMARINE ROBOTS
Of course the Japanese intro is better than the English one =_= never the less this was a cool show =)
One of my favorite shows of all time
this is the very first transformers american adaption that has a not terrible and funny dub
No, both intros are the greatest you heartless idiot.
The Worse then g2 looking 3D parts will have a word with you. The song is nice though
In this intro: Optimus Prime single-handedly defeats the Predacons while the other Autobots do lots of really flashy nothing.
I agree. RID/Car Robots has my favorite mecha designs out of the Transformers series. Fire Convoy, The Car Brothers and the Bullet Train Team all look really slick.

R.I.P. Kouji Wada. :(
RIP :'(
+areasevenpro RIP Kouji Wada one of my favorite singer T^T T_T
Tell me about it. :(
at least you know of him
*WARNING WARNING: NOSTALGIA OVERDRIVE ACTIVATED*
Sad to hear Koji Wada passed away.
RIP Wada Koji
Kouji Wada's the man, he does great work with themes for Sentai series, if I'm thinking of the same person.
He never touched Sentai, he was known for Digimon, his first and last release was for that franchise(first: Butter-Fly, last: Seven ~tri. Version~)
Too bad the guy *NEVER TOUCHED ANY OF THE SENTAI SERIES' MUSIC* out there as much as I want him to sing in a certain Sentai series
RIP Kōji Wada
これと電童を見るのが小さい頃の毎週の楽しみだった…
Nice that youtube recommended a video from a literal age ago.
I'm not complaining though.
HOLY "#$%&& THIS SONG IS SINGED BY KOJI WADA! THE DIGIMON COMPOSER!!!!!!
I have a lot of nostalgia for RiD, and let me tell you, this opening is WAY better. Sorry, Saban, they beat you at your own game - wailing guitars will be always be better than wailing synths and warbling electronic voices!
William Rearick 2015 Rid is better though.
Eh, too brief and bombastic for my liking
William Rearick Care robot's japaneses quirks, oversuse of redeco, destronger being outnumbered and really bad dub made it worst. Plus it doesn't make sense.
+Leo Lim Rid 2015 is actually really good! Now that I think of it I still have to finish watching Season 2!
Leo Lim No, I like this RID better. The 2015 RID shouldn't have been called "RID."
Wow. The 3D parts were awesome.
自分にとって一番好きだったコンボイ、一番かっこよかった消防車ロボがファイヤーコンボイだった。
I will remember you Mr. Wada
I love the begining, makes me wanna run out an go to the rescue of someone.
It was for the Japanese Opening only, however I remember RiD using the 3D scenes from the Japanese intro for the Fox Kids eyecatches when it aired. (Mostly the scene of Optimus/Fire Convoy.)
I mean CGI was also used for eyecatches
It is, through the fact that Brave Maximus was in the G1 continuity and then shifted over to RID continuity. This was cleared up in "Kiss Players".
One of my favorite TF series
和田光司さんが歌っていたんだった・・・合掌。
この作品やけにロボット同士の合体が多かったからTFと云うよりも「勇者シリーズ」に近い雰囲気を感じた。
DAMN I LOVE Kouji Wada!!!!! HE"S THE GUY WHO DID THE DIGIMON THEMES IN JAPAN!!!
lol oh man i have like half those transformers. i love the old days
Transformers is actually an American concept based off a Japanese toyline. However, Transformers also broadcasted in Japan and got several spinoffs such as this series.
NICE!!! yay sum1 finally put this up ^_^ thx~~
TRANSAFOAM! This intro is so much better than the american version
cool
God I am getting old I remember growing up with these now I am an old man :( why does time fly by....
Plus a leader for the villians with multiple transformations, nothing like it was done until this series. Plus it has a certain spark (no pun intended) that isen't with the other shows, that's why I like RID too.

SO AWESOME!!!!!!!
I think I found my happy place.
This song was sung by the Same singer that sung all the Japanese Digimon Opening Themes: Kouji Wada San
To anyone who disliked this, FIRE FLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i love the song and the bots
100% Awesome.
It's been officially 15 years since this show premiered in Japan.
16!
18!
1:21 "Fuck you, Fire Convoy!"
+Prime 46 yup
Nice
The Autobot in 1:10 is Sideburn (Speedbreaker).
The original G1 was Anime. The animation was made in Japan and Korea. Only the story was American.
it's funny how the transformers have had this stuff in the citys and underwater, and now the humans have just seen it?
well....if ya go back and look...override/nitro convoy was considered the leader of speed planet, and evac/live convoy could be considered the leader of the group on earth before optimus and his crew showed up
For all those who dont know they actually aired this in the US on Fox Kids.
"Written and recorded in America, and produced for American audiences, the series was animated in Japan and South Korea, and was based upon the line of transforming toys originally created by Japanese toy manufacturer Takara, which were developed into the Transformers line by American company Hasbro."
That doesn't sound like anime to me.
0:41 this is when it gets good
they have a lot of dragons since G1 and Beast Wars.
Oh hey that's Koji Wada singing
Liking the CGI sequences and all, but I'm for the RiD version that aired between 2001-2002. This Oprimus Prime's Japaness name is Fire Convoy.
Yeah really.....either one way or the other.
I completely agree!
Yeah, you're right. Plus Optimus has her in his hand.
No, Japan and USA make a deal to sell the japanese toys on us market, and marvel would write about the characters.
@atomofish Acutaly, it is considered to be part of the G1 (japanese) continuity. It happens between the event of season 2 and the movie - it said that Fire convoy protected earth Optimus and co disappeared. It was originally an alternate continuity until recently.

firetruck that have fire powers, when you think a little bitt about it makes sens in a strange way0_0.

Let's go!
懐かしい
感動した
@stoltobot: All I know is that it's more complicated than we realize.
I agree that this is Gigatron. I think that except for the characters that were actually made in ameica, like Optimus Prime, or the first Megatron, the Japanese names tend to be better.
Cool thanks!
続篇やってほしいです。
@atomofish Though in Takara-Tomy's case, they TRIED to retcon Car Robots/Robots in Disguise into G1 continuity in Japan, while in the US continuity, it remains its' own universe.
Bryon
actually i think in japan it was meant to be in the g1 continuity.
colleen4ever: "Wow!! I had no idea this was an anime. It looks unbelieveably cool. So, where does it fit in in the Transformers saga?"
It's an Alternate Universe series. Meaning its not connected to G1 or anything else.
Except in Japan where this takes place after season 2 of g1
GO BOY! CONVOY!
recuerdo verlo x Fox Kids en el 2001
This series looks so much like the Brave series.
this is the anime Gallop worked on before YuGiOh
It was released in 2000.
Actually, there was not much of that mixed, here. Mainly just for the opening credits. It's mainly cell animation, here.
That CG! XD
Look for Nelson Shin in the credits of the G1 show or movie. He's the Japanese man who directed the shows.

Good question.
@atomofish
That's debatable. Some consider it to be the g1 cartoon continuity but branching of before the movie.
this is fucking amazing
1:21 is he fliping me off?
he is
car robot= brave serie × transformers
Nah, it's more galaxy force or even Go!!(which I feel is a poorly made version)
cor example exkaiser or J decker its soo same to car robots
Galaxy force locks like gaogaiger
Omega Prime aka God Fire Convoy is backed !
i know but transformers goes in a category by itself.not in the anime category.
You don't know?! Its Transformers-Robots in Disguise-sometimes called RiD
It's all 2D, with some occasional use of 3D. (Mostly with the Space Bridge sequences.)
スーパーロボット大戦参戦してほしいです。
@nilok7
it was released in Japan and US before Armada
I think they should have done the whole thing in 2D and left the 3D out. Although the 3D transformations were cool!
Cool!!!
Did you know even Transformers do Yoga?!
Search: Transformers Yoga
0:58 RIP Skybyte
スーパーロボット大戦参戦してほしいですがあと続編やってほしいです。
Car roboto! Car roboto!
I swear I've heard this song before in another Japanese translated song...I just can't remember it.
It's X-Brawn in english.
Well, this series is considered filler, to bad because i really liked this one, before it started production of the Unicron Saga
It's hot!
