That has happened quite a bit in different tf cartoons, like TF Cybertron with their Scourge and TF Cyberverse with Grimlock though Grim just talked more like an idiot more than anything while Scourge was different
I did not know how much different the original names were to their America dub. Yes i know it was to keep the America trademark of names but some of these Japanese ones are pretty decent and unique

The Henshin came from back when they had masterforce and headmasters. Also the t-cog sound that we all are accustomed to was only heard from in masterforce and only the destrons made that sound.
“Henkei” is the proper term since they’re all robots anyway. Even “Change” would have worked better than “Henshin” which is for humans & similar lifeforms.
I wish there was a 2nd season to this show like They could put in other autobot combiners like The Protectobots to counter The Combaticons in this show.

If you want to know, Devastator was actually originally designed for good, for the Autobots, but because of Hasbro's concept change, he became evil, even though Takara's design was for good.
i found interesting that Dark Scream/Gildor and Gel Shark/Sky-Byte are all repaint of the maximal Cybershark and Nightglider, except for Goosher/Slapper and Gas Skunk with Slapper (or Goosher) being a repaint of a the predacons Spittor, while Gas Skunk litreally identical to Stinkbomb with different is that there tails are in different color

The original name of the toy that G1 Optimus was based off was Battle Convoy, Takara just kept using the Convoy part in their spin offs
