You're right, mate. Best series were rid 2001 and Beast wars. And the rid action figures were fantastic, especially more than 20 years ago (i think they were really good developed, and probably they have smart transformations still now)
Sure the dub of rid 2001 was umm…No exactly good. (It was kind of crap.) The Japanese version was actually pretty good and plus at least the toys for the most part were amazing. I still want a cryotech repaint of legacy transmetal 2 megatron that color scheme is so good. Also a little packrat figure to display alongside my rattrap would be good fun.
I almost forgot how one of the Train combiners skipped everything EXCEPT leg day! But if you're anything like me, THIS is Robots in Disguise! The Prime series sequel was fine for the most part, but THIS was always so much better to me!
RID 2001 feels like a predecessor to the movie toys. The futuristic aesthetic of the toys and the ability for some to transform into licensed vehicles really reminds me of the movies.
I really REALLY wish I could get a hold of the convention exclusive retool of RiD Megatron/Gigatron into BW Megatron. Definitely one of my Holy Grails.
Is gigatrons head on a ball joint? Cause I was gonna get a gigatron figure take his head off & literally get a BW Megatron head & put it on gigatrons body.
Optimus as a fire truck actually works for him. I wouldn’t mind seeing a new figure take another crack at a fire truck alt mode for him. What better alt mode is there for a hero who stands for all and is a noble leader than a vehicle that is literally designed to assist in protecting the weak? Firetruck’s give off a sense of righteousness and strength to me so it’s a perfect fit for Optimus.
Havent seen them make a combiner like RID 2001 Constructicons since they made the original here. Its such a cool concept, being able to move around the components to make different versions like that in such a unique way unlike say Combiner Wars. I will say that while CW was surely more versatile especially since it allowed for the primary demographic, kids, to switch out the necessary limbs or torso bots to compensate for what they lacked, the constructicons here are just overall way cooler and unique. Im sure if they made a Legacy version of it that it'd be pretty rad, i really hope Hasbro/ Takara do make a revamped version one day, even if its based on G1 Constructicons with its paint/colors.
