Happy for you - wear it well! I love my Explorer 36 - as you say, just a fantastic, versatile watch. Restrained and elegant in design, but totally capable of taking a beating. If I walked away from watches tomorrow and only kept one, I think it would be E36 as the last man standing - quite a statement as a diver and chrono fan. I'll be interested to see footage of yours out in the wild - enjoy!
Thank you. Brave, 1 watch collection? I wish I could that. Just got back from testing the Rolex Explorer up in the mountains, hopefully have that footage soon. A rough (but fun) trip.
Hey man can’t wait to see you test this watch out! I’ve had an older 36mm Explorer ref. 114270 for a while now and I also like to use these as serious tool watches. However I’m always feeling a little apprehensive to push my older watch in this way. It’s made me look towards the current generation Explorer for its build quality. Looking forward to seeing how this watch fairs in the field 💪👌
Me as well, can't wait to get this watch out into the field. Heading up to the Eastern Sierras tomorrow to put the Rolex Explorer through its paces. 36mm Explorer ref. 114270 is a beautiful watch. Cheers
That’s a classic and beautiful beast, looking forward to seeing you field testing it! I hope you get a Speedmaster eventually, I think It will hold up to your standards, with the exception of diving. I would love to see how it holds up. Enjoy, sir!
Thank you. Oh I’ll have a lot of videos coming out about that soon. I’ll be comparing them against each other as a daily, out in the woods, desert, ocean and so on. Cheers
Congrats! I bought the 36mm one about a year ago from my AD in South FL. My wrist size is the same as yours and I tried them all: 36, 39 and 40. It’s interesting how we all have these ideas about wrist size and watch size. I felt the proportions of the 36 in my wrist were right, from a purist standpoint I guess, which makes me biased when thinking about OPs and DJs in 36mm only if I were to get more in the future.
Thank you, Yeah we all personal preferences. I'm just use to bigger watches I guess, have always worn 42mm and 41mm watches so the 40mm felt a better fit.
Rolex... Where is the white dial?.. and for the 40mm version, please move the Explorer text back to the southern part of the dial right above the superlative chrono writing. Yes, just like the previous 39. Thanks for the vid, man.
If you don't mind revealing, where did you happen to purchase this model? My AD in the Midwest is ridiculous and quotes years and years for every single Rolex. There should be little to no waiting list for the vast majority of models now. I ordered a Tudor leather band from this AD for my BB GMT in November and they said no word on that yet...7 months later for a leather band. Plus, I purchased a new Sub from this AD back in 2006 (albeit many years ago, however....). Thoughts?
That is a bit odd. I know it is different all over the country and world, I have heard that some people have to wait a year or two for the Rolex Explorer, people who have a good spend history. But that leather band, thats not right. I just go to my local AD here in Orange County, CA.
Its perfect, the Rolex Explorer has great proportions for more an everyday watch. I like the bigger sizing of the Explorer II and Submariner as tool watches, you know they're on your wrist. The Explorer 40 is a bit more subtle and I sometimes forget I'm wearing it. Which is nice in some cases, Cheers
Congratulation - looks very nice on you. I have a question. Could you please compare the sizes of the dials? (The sizes of the watches are clear.) But which of your threes boys has the largest/smallest dial size? Thanks a lot. Looking forward to your next video. Cheers.
Can you share your wrist size? I go back and forth about the 36mm and the 40mm version. I have tried both and I'm still not sure. After two year's wait, I turned down the 36mm from the AD, probably foolish, but I can't describe it. The 36mm just felt dainty for some reason, and I can wear smaller watches (34mm vintage Omega). Likewise, I wasn't completely sold on the 40mm version. Maybe I need to go back and try it again, spend some more time with it.
7 inches, Yeah we all personal preferences. I'm just use to bigger watches I guess, have always worn 42mm and 41mm watches so the 40mm felt a better fit.

I've had my Explorer 40 for a month now, absolutely love it! Enjoy it
I'm already head or heels for this watch after 3 days. Cheers
I have mine for three months now and I haven’t removed it from my wrist! Was waiting for it since it came out.
I'm the same way. Cheers
Your video confirms my desire to have this watch! Fingers crossed I can make it happen with my AD.
Its a great watch! Cheers

I would say Cheyne that this beauty is a keeper, always liked this timepiece simple and functional

I got the same one, Perfect Daily Luxury Watches for MEN
I love can be both a luxury timepiece as well as a tool watch.

You felt a 14mm taper looks good in a modern watch on a 7 inch wrist?

Put a brilo pad to the polished bezel. You’ll love it. Does it have the center dimple on the dial?
It does have that little dimple.
I bought mine a week ago❤ I was on waiting list for 3 years
Congrats, a great watch.
Well done....probably the most non show off rolex that there is....very tasteful
Cheers. Good point, very under stated.
You're a tall guy it appears as well. How do you feel about the size of the Explorer 40 compared to your Sub and EXP II?

Is it really 40mm? I’d be surprised if so. Been burned on a few Rolex lying about the size. It DOES matter.
By my measurement its 40.1, So yes is a 40mm watch.
38.6

The 40mm proportions fit my wrist better and the 36mm was to much of a size different from all my other 41 and 42mm watches. Personal preference.
