      I agree, Got some very positive vibes from this place. That storage room upstairs, with the wide plank floors and holding the old screen doors, felt very familiar to me. There was one door leaning against the wall on the right side - the one with the fancy fret work - that I swear came right out of somebody's home. Maybe a grand parent or someone else. I can't place it exactly but I swear the room feels familiar from long, long ago. Thanks for finding it and sharing it with us!

      Mamie Bobb I watch these and have the same sensation that I’ve been there before and then I realize that I am just old enough that many homes I went in as a kid were still like that. But it always gives me this comfortable, safe feeling....I guess because it takes me back to childhood and for me childhood was good.

    What a lovely place this must have been when first built. Attention to detail that is shown in the detail of some of the door knobs and the “gingerbread” trim on the porch shows that somebody cared when house was built. At least the vultures didn’t find you this time-just mubdaubers 😊.

    When my husband and I first heard your voice, we looked at each other and said, that's Ryan talking. That's our son-in-law up in Indiana. But of course it wasn't him! It's was you! I called my daughter and told her to listen. She said when did you get Ryan talking and who is he talking too. Long story short! Ya'll are voice twins! I love what you do man! History is wonderful and exciting! We live in a log cabin. 1820 to 1840. My mother moved it to our property in 1973. This the 3rd place it's been since it was hand hune in the early 1820s. We must do all we can to preserve history. It's disappearing fast. When it's gone it wouldn't be coming back! Thank you for your hard work! Don't stop!

    This was an incredible video. I love old homes like this. I grew up in an 1826 home in Ohio that my family restored and left 90 percent original (had to upgrade windows and some of the foundation) but it had the original front door, door knobs and hinges, even had the creek stone foundation still intact in many places. Hand built arched door, 9 feet tall with red circular stained glass in the top of the arch. This reminded me so much of that house. Thank you so much for filming this and being so respectful to this piece of history. I live in Western North Carolina now and went thru Hugh school in Blue Ridge and this home is one of hundreds that are abandoned in this area of the same age and style. You got another subscriber with me and I can’t wait to see your new videos!

BTW, my parents still live in the same farmhouse I grew up in(ages 90 & 91), married 69 years! And, my hubby & I are 4th generation in our farmhouse! We enjoy the woodwork, doors & door knobs, and all of the other "good old homey feel" of days gone by. Counting our blessings our descendants seem interested in becoming caretakers of these homes when we move on to our heavenly ones! Evidently the descendants in the case if this old home decided to invest in newer architecture. Sad!

    Viewer from Sweden here. Beautiful house and surroundings. Dreamlike. Images of the families and all life some 60 or 100 years ago come to my mind. But life is still there in the wonderful landscape and birds. I love to find places like that during roadtrips in Sweden (just different building styles). Sometimes the inhabitants left for "Amerika". Melancholy sets in but the sweet kind - life goes on. Would love to do roadtrips in the states. "country roads" playing.. ;)

    I like that old fashioned kitchen sink with the high back to catch the splashes. Thats a better design than the modern ones.

      That was the same kind of sink my grandparents had, can still remember having to bath in it, hot water came from pots on the wood stove.

    Another great find even if the house is in rough shape. TV is from the late 50's and the radio is likely from the 30's. (It was upside down) lol

      I agree, a waste of a well built home with history and character. It could still be saved.

      @donniebrown2896 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of that crap is actually very valuable to collectors and decorators. If the old glass in the windows are starting to become "wavy" it could be sold for about 50-100$ per pane.

    Thank you for taking me along with you to this wonderful old home . So sad to see it used for storage and I am sure who ever was doing that is probably left it behind as well . Such wonderful wood work in this home. Looked to me someone was working on this at one time . In my opinion it would take alot of money but it would be worth it ! Loved that upstairs porch you could almost see a older woman sitting in a rocking chair with a blanket on her lap rocking softly . GREAT video Kappy I just love theses videos !

    Farm houses didn't have closets because they didn't have a lot of clothes. They didn't have a lot of shoes either, going barefoot in the summer. Loved the headboard. The entire house is cool. Love it retains some original features.

    • @codename495
      @codename495 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jackie Pierce Nope. They didn’t have closets because they didn’t have central heating or air and they line dried all of their clothing. Putting your clothing in a small, closed room filled with clothing would result in mold and moths. They also had dressers, which were large cabinets with a place to hang clothing as well as smaller drawers for base layers. The people who built that absolutely massive house had a LOT of money at least when they built. That house has a servants staircase.

    Very large old house. A few dollars in scrap metal. The doors could be restored and make very beautiful additions in renoing. And that view! Fantastic! All in all I love the woodwork. And think this would make my top ten for saving.

    You should scout around these homes outside. This time of year you may find spring flowering perennials. Give you an idea of how the outside, gardens and landscaping, was laid out. I've stumbled upon lilacs and daffodils literally in the middle of nowhere.

      that usually means it was a residence at one time. The woods in Pa. are loaded with the remnants of old towns long gone...the tell tale mark is all the shrubs and flowers left behind.

      That's the part the explorers never mention. I appreciate what they do but it would be nice to know the history of these places and have some of the architectural features explained. At least this one is more interesting than the ones where they explore a house full of 20 year old trash and keep saying "wow, insane and incredible" when the see a TV that isn't flatscreen.
