BFG KO2 is a great tire for on road with a light offroad, and really good for dry hard surfaces not mud. The BFG KM3 is their mud terrain and though a personal favorite, is still just decent on mud but great on loose stuff. Both offer long life and great overall performance. A major consideration is if you plan on getting offroad then you need a good air compressor so you can lower your tire pressure when offroad and air back up before heading onto the roads.
Just some food for thought and maybe advice for you two boys. Suspension lifts do not allow most vehicles to clear larger tires. To properly clear larger tires you require a body lift to clear the actual vehicle from where the tires would previously scrub while articulated.
