Thank you for that great tutorial. You have taken some of the fear out of standups for me. You do a great job explaining everything, and we appreciate it!
Your tutorial was so clear and easy to understand. More than once, while watching this, I thought, "I wish I'd known that years ago when I was doing this sort of finishing". Thank you, Helen!
Funny, I was thinking how nice and clean your desk looks.😂 Great tutorial and wonderful timing. I have a Prairie Schooler Santa I want to make into a stand up. Thanks for sharing.
What a treasure this tutorial is. I have always been a little timid to do this. Now I want to make them all. It’s very doable. 💕. I have love watching all your videos from the start. You have brightened up my gloomy days and inspired me. Thank you so much for all your time and talents.
Helen, thank you so much for all of your tutorials but especially this one. I have a PS Santa all stitched on 10 ct with the intent of him being a standup. I have been very intimidated thinking about the finishing. After watching your video I now feel confident as to how to go about it. As always, thank you so much for your generosity in sharing your tips and techniques.
Thank you Helen! Really informative and so helpful! I wish I had your sewing skills, but I am grateful that I at least tried sewing in home economics, because if I had not, I would have probably never learned to cross stitch! I did not excel in sewing so my teacher taught me cross stitch and needlepoint instead! Beautiful finish and instructions!
Helen, this tutorial is fabulous!!! I would have never attempted doing this finish but I am going to give it a try now with this amazing tutorial, thank you!!
I can't believe I watched the whole thing... just teasing Helen. You always make it look so easy. Every step you show is like ok I think I can do that. Were you a teacher in another life? I always know that when I watch any of your tutorials it will be explained in a way anyone can do it. Sending a virtual apple to the best teacher in floss tube world. 🍎
Hey, Helen. You are such a good teacher. You give great detail. I wouldn’t dream of tackling a finish like that without your tutorial. Thank you so much! ❤
Thanks so much for the detailed tutorial. One of my viewers sent me over, because I'm working on a pattern that I'm going to finish as a stand up. New subscriber here!
Helen thank you so much for taking the time to make this tutorial! You did a great job such a good teacher. I feel so much less intimidated now to try to make a stand up.
Helen - thanks for this tutorial - I am working on Teresa Kogut's Country Santa and have been thinking he would make a great stand up. Great tips and advice.
Thanks for another great tutorial Helen! I'm going to have to make 4 stand ups by the end of this year and I don't want to mess them up. I'm going to look into getting a light box. That seemed to be a useful tool. Take care😊
Wonderful tutorial. I absolutely love stand ups and this video will be saved in my library. You are an amazing teacher and I so appreciate your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and helping me be a better finisher of my stitching.
Good morning, Helen. I watched your video yesterday and it was wonderful. I always admired standups but they really scared me asnf you made them look easy and something that I might try. Your videos are always so imformative and down-to-earth. I have been been stitching for so many years and it is fun to see what is new and how to finish . So many things have changed. I did have a chuckle while I was watching. I think you were using a compass to draw your template and not a protractor. It's been a lot of years since geometry class but a protractor is in the shape of a semi-circle and used to measure angles and a compass is used to draw circles. That's all I remember about geometry-----too many years. Whatever you used, your finished standup was perfect. Thank you for taking the time and knowleged to make each video.
Thank you for being so generous with your time and talent to share this and other techniques with us. You are a wonderful instructor!! I can't wait to stitch some of these Santas and try my hand at making some stand-ups!
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I have wanted to do a stand up forever and was so scared but that tutorial was awesome and now I feel confident enough to go ahead and try. I will definitely have your tutorial on the whole time but I think I can do it!! You Rock Helen D!!!
This is so easy to understand, Helen; thank you! I often mash up your and Vonna's tutorials when y'all both have one on the same topic, taking bits from each one. Your Santa looks great, the stitchwork and the finishing.
This one is a little more tedious because of all the steps, but if you started with a chart that you already have a template for it will knock a lot of them off. 🙂
Thank you so much for a tutorial that makes me believe I can do that...even with my minimal sewing skills! I particularly liked you showing how to make the template. BTW, I loved the recent tutorial on the berry tops; it was very encouraging.
Thank you so much for another fantastic tutorial!! I definitely am going to try making one this year from that same pattern. Love everything about yours!
Wonderful tutorial, Have you ever used a curved needle? I used one when I did my standup. Your tutorial was so much easier than the way I was taught back in the 90’s. I need to do one your way! Thank you.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. While fearful to try, this girl is going to give it a try😊. Love those santas!!
You really have a knack for teaching these tutorials, thank you! 💞
I'm so glad yoy curse at the pins. 🤣

This SO good! Thanks, Helen! Making a Miss Liberty standup of LH Needleworks lady. ❤ Hopefully will be a 2024 fair entry!
Thank you, interesting. The tool is compass not a protractor.
Great tutorial, you have a knack for teaching, easy to follow and understandable. Thank you for sharing!!!
Used this tutorial today to make my first stand up. Love it and feel I did pretty good for a first go. Thank you.

I haven't used an official curved needle, but my "favorite needle" is bent enough that it's basically a curved needle. 😂
I feel so brave now, thank you!
LOL "Sew and curse at pins" is the story of my life as a sewer!!
Thanks for the tutorial it was so easy to follow!
