Thanks so much for this tut. I'm (finally) leaving Adobe behind and getting rid of expensive subscriptions and software too heavy on my system, so Audacity has already replaced Audition here. Now you have a new subscriber and Adobe one less. Greetings from Brazil.
Yes, thanks Mike. I do use OBS but have always found it more convenient to use Audacity. I reverted back to 3.4 and I will leave it at that. Great content BTW 👍
Brilliant, to the point and very useful tips. I love the shortness of it all but and I know you don't have the time to go through all the settings but there is so much more to audio editing and enhancing. Thanks for this, have subscribed.
Thanks Mike great tutorial. I moved away from Audacity because I couldn't use live editing, but you showed how with these VST's. Any tips on fining good and free or opensource VST's for Audacity? Thanks again for the tips.
In Audacity, you can use the Spacebar to play your audio forwards, and Shift + Spacebar to play backwards to easily navigate and find specific parts of your clip!
Excellent. However, despite having latest Audacity, I do not have 'noise reduction and repair' in my effects tab...just noise reduction? My effects list is also quite long by comparison, too?
Hi Mike and everybody. I miss the possibility to select a part of the clips to move or relocate them. I just know the function to choose all together Ctr.+A. Do you have any tips on this?
Hey! Totally get what you mean! If you haven’t already, try using the slice tool or just clicking while holding down shift. It’s way easier than Ctrl+A for sure! Happy editing!
Hey, Mike. Thanks for these tips. I was using your recommended settings from another of your videos, but after updating Audacity they no longer pass ACX check. Included was NORMALIZATION after noise reduction back then. Do you no recommend that anymore? Thanks.
Glad you found the tips helpful, and sorry to hear the updated settings didn't pass the ACX check - I'll look into that normalization issue and provide an update soon!
Love these videos! I have a video where they had Spanish translator over lay and they reduced the English speaker's volume,. How can I remove the English speaker altogether it is like background noise.
Hi Mike, Great tuto, very clear and precise (and very understandable for my English language 😊). I have created a kind of meddley with different songs, eliminating the blanks, adjusting the sound levels, etc. with Audacity. I have put everything together and it is nice. However, I have now a single long track. I don’t know how to export this track keeping the different clips name inside the overall track. So that I can read the name of each clip on my tablet or my smartphone (through the corresponding tags). A kind of music album, with one song after another. Thanks for your kind help and advice about how to do that. All the best, knarf from France 🎸 🇨🇵 😊
Hey Knarf! Thanks for the awesome feedback! To keep those clip names when exporting, just hit up the "Export Multiple" feature in Audacity. Super easy! If you get stuck, just holler! 🎶
Thank you for the video bro, by the way, should I use the same settings that you used for every voice over that I make or should I change some values according to my specific voice ? I'm a bit confused here and I don't want to ruin my career as a voice over artist with some bad editing voices, thank you again
While the settings I used can be a good starting point, it's always best to experiment and adjust them to fit your unique voice and tone for the best results!
@@MikeRussell I understand thank you ,do you recommend using your settings and playing around with them for making ads and working with brands ? I just want my voice to stand out and be unique
Thank you. I am new to recording but I understood you very well. this is helpfull. Neverthe less, the voice I made on this instruction is not very different from the origin.
That's completely normal, and it's great that you understood the tutorial, keep practicing and you'll start to see improvements in your recordings over time!
Thanks Mike, love the tips. Did you know you can also hold the Option key and put the cursor at the end of the file and leftclick and hold to play with the pitch and stretch. ;-)
I'm having trouble editing subliminal voices on my track. It never used to happen on older audacity versions. Im receiving this message. "Warning; There is not enough room available to paste the selection. How can I fix this?

You can absolutely normalize multiple files at once, just make sure to select all the files you want to normalize and the software will take care of the rest!

Great work Mike! I learned something new. I'm a new youtuber and was using mp3 files. Will make the switch to wav files to get the best audio quality.

Hi Mike. Brand new audacity user as of a few hours ago. I'm curious about the VST effects. I don't seem them on mine fresh download.
Thanks
You might need to download and install the VST effects plugins separately as they're not included in the initial Audacity download.

Welcome to the Audacity family!
Does your mic still have good audio after you do all the recording from audacity
Yes, my mic continues to produce high quality audio even after recording and editing in Audacity!
Do we have playback preview like that in audition?? I need that
Yes, Adobe Audition does offer a similar feature called "Preview Editor" for quick playback preview of selected audio segments.
How can you easily play forwards and backwards to find specific parts of the clip? I’m used to JKL keyboard shortcuts in video editing software.
