    Ok so obviously I'm doing something last-minute for college. Audio recording for a movie I'm making. Turns out my computer's super noisy and my microphone is absolute crap, like 1 dollar crap. Somehow a normalize and a noise reduction following your exact numbers made it sound extra good. Good enough to make me stop what I'm doing to type this. great work friend.

  • @ull893

    I have no words to say except THANK YOU. Just 7 minutes into the video I just paused and i tried one tip for noise reduction, and i feel already like a pro. This comes from a technology challenged person like myself. You are a great teacher. I have been struggling with audacity for using it something which so personal to me, and I had already given up. I tried so many videos out there. They are all just about the presenter, and not the content. You hit the point straight and hard. Please make more videos on audacity. I always knew that this is an awesome software for recording but found it intimidating. You demystified it. Thank you again.By the way, your video did not come up in my searches. Instead, Some stupid long fetched videos came up. i guess it has to do with the you tube algorithm.

    *Pro Tip:*
    For those converting Cassettes, Vinyl, MiniDisc etc...
    Want to *Automatically create tracks* after recording a cassette?
    Select all. Analyze>Silence Finder.
    Then File>Export >Export Multiple.
    You now have all the songs on your cassette separated into individual tracks!!!
    Silence finder will search the entire track looking for silence in between songs and automatically create label boundaries.

    Just remember, the more tracks you have overlapping, the more noise will add up. Even 3 or 4 tracks with sound overlapping will create a noticeable hiss. I remove this by applying a Low Pass filter, which doesn't leave you with the underwater sound of Noise Removal..

    • @Felipemelazzi
      @Felipemelazzi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      To avoid the distortion of Noise Reduction, I always create a duplicate of a track before applying it so I can easily compare the "after" and "before" and it helps fine-tune the tool's options ("Sensitivity" and "Frequency Smoothing") to find a balance between removing the noise and distorting the voice.
      Getting a good Noise Profile in the first place is the best way to go, but that's not always possible.

    • @CyberdogStudios
      @CyberdogStudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I try to teach my students to get in the habit of starting a and ending a recording session with a good 3 seconds of silence. This is anticipation of noise removal, and ensures that you get a clean sample of any ambient room and electronics noise.

      Very very nice you certainly do know your audacity.
      in case you never have pushed something out in 5.1 surround.
      Instead of exporting it as MP3.
      Hit export audio then you can mix your channels for different speakers and surround sound. I was hoping you might have a tutorial on your surround sound.
