Buzz Cut length will mostly depend on your skull shape and usually the two biggest factors are does your skull naturally form an oval or does it lay flat with odd indentations. The better the skull shape the lower the buzz length you can go since your skull is already symmetrical. Other things like how much your optical bone sticks outs on the back. For example I can't go below a #5 up top because my skull lays flat and isn't shaped correctly. Basically hair has to fill in that gap to create symmetry.

Same with certain brand sockets for ratchets. It’s an eye test to read the side. Just recently it seems they started putting big numbers on the sides of sockets now. About time.
I've just had a hair transplant and my hair has grown from grade 0 for 2 weeks. I was worried that maybe my hair is still very thin because I'm about a grade 2 length now and my scalp is still very much visible in certain light. I'm so thankful that this has reassured me that scalp coverage begins to kick in about grade 3. 1 week or so more and I should be looking all better. Thank you

You should try it on yourself. The buzzcut doesn't have the same effect on a mannequin.

I went to a 2 few months ago. But because I’m thinning and my crown is nearly bald. Best type of cut for thinning hair is 1000% a short buzz
