The mistake the Suns made was believing that they had to constantly make changes: lose to the Spurs in 04-05, trade Q for interior defense in Kurt Thomas. Lose in 06-07 due to untimely injuries, fixed games and unfair suspensions, but they feel they needed to do something drastic, which was trading for Shaq. The BS that was the 2006-07 WCSF aside, they didn't not win because they didn't play defense or because of their style - they didn't win because they never had the same team from one year to the next. If they kept the 04-05 team in tact (Nash, Johnson, Marion & Stoudemire mainly) for 3-4 years straight, there is no way they would not have won a championship.
Jeremy Paulison I dont think thats fair whatsoever. Raja Bell was way better than Richardson. They lost in 2007 because of the suspensions. They made the change in 2008 because of course you take the gamble, its Shaquille O'Neal! The real reasons they never won were losing Joe Johnson after 2005, Amar'e getting hurt in 2006, and the suspensions in 2007.
Though I do believe that if they kept their original team members for at least one season more, they could make a difference. Imagine if they got someone like AD or Giannis back then......
@@notmytruthTHEtruth But they were done with their window at that point, you had tp take that risk to try and pry it open again. Nowadays, we know they should have just played even faster and shot even more threes, but the game wasnt ready for that yet.
It is a true crime that these suns never even made to one NBA finals.i feel soo bad for Nash and the others as well.they were just too good and too fun to watch
now thats phoenix suns basketball!!! i am a huge suns fan and i used their games so much!! so fast!!! just run run and shoot!!! i hope they will sson be a conteder!
Letting Joe Johnson go, Amare injured & Q. Richardson & Marion GO was the biggest mistake ever. Coach D'Antoni should know when to slow down his offense & coach his team to protect ball when they have the leads. Theres no problem with their offense but a little Defensive instinct is what it takes to win a Championships especially come Playoffs time. You gotta make some necessary adjustments but dont fix if theres nothing broken. Thats their BIGGEST mistake.
True, but a team like this could have played horrible defense and still won a championship if it wasn't for all the bad luck they had in the playoffs every time with injuries. They beat the Lakers one year and then lose to the Spurs. They beat the Spurs another year and then lose to the Lakers. Really? lol. But my point is that they scored so much and had lots of good three point shooting. The opposing team would have to score a whole lot to beat them. One year they even had a 62 win record.
You can have great defensive but when the suns just pull the trigger getting up and down the floor it's hard for any team to keep falling back on D to stop them. The suns force you to play quick D and big men can stop a lot of inside shots but it's hard for them to run all the court back and forth. Miss this suns basketball, bad luck has stopped them from getting a ring. Especially against the spurs.
It was hard for Suns to win because the league and refs call the game way differently in post season...gets crazy physical and refs don't call many fouls. It's the way the NBA wants the playoffs to be played I guess. Suns had ALOT of bad luck and injuries to contend with in the playoffs too....
Dan Smith yeah, it was because of bad luck and injuries, otherwise Steve Nash would have one ring at least. 04-05, injury of Joe Johnson cause them lose to spurs. 05-06, injuries of Stoudemire and Thomas. 06-07, the referee participated in gambling and ruined the series between Spurs and Suns. The referee was put into jail later. After 08, lots of bad trade weakened Suns even though they sweep Spurs by 4:0, but how can a team with players whose total salary was 30 million $ to compete with Laker (the total salary was 60 million)?
+jtfourlife Yeah, they probably would've put up 180. And the Suns would've put up 200. Amare in his prime might've eclipsed Kobe's 81 going against that soft ass interior featuring Andrew Bogut as a starting center LMAO
imGermn They didn't... Amar'e left as a UFA and the Suns held onto Nash and avoiding a rebuild for as long as long as they could before facilitating him signing with the Lakers (s&t so Phoenix could net picks in return). The mistake was never bringing back the same team in any given season.
they losing to the spurs in that wcf was a bad one, add to that the following season...the lakers whom they owned since shaq left, was now beginning to beat them in the reg. season (thanks to kobe calling out bynum in the media to step up his game)..... make the long story short, kerr panicked and disbanded this team (as well as the style of play), he knew they were not going to get past the spurs with the run and gun style of d'antoni.....hence acquiring the big 🌵 cactus..... .....this and the kings of the early 00's under adelman can def. be considered the progenitor of t'days modern nba style of play.....
Nash & Marion were the essence of the Suns' run and gun firepower.
It's ridiculous how many passes Nash throws perfectly from behind his opponents 3-point line.
The Run and Gun makes the Suns so fucking fun to watch!

We might not have won a title, but there's no better, more exiting basketball than this
Cole Miller 02 sacramento kings
great video, if only the quality was better
Dat was a good video. Lake Show
There are teams that epitomize certain aspects of the games. I think if fast break when I think of Steve Nash/Phoenix Suns
Wow, all of those 5 pixels seem like they are doing something on a basketball court.
those were the days
if you look closely......Steve Nash is friggin amazing
Honestly I think its cause NYK has forwards running the show instead of PGs.

what's the song?
Because there's only one Nash.
And Marion.

Vid quality you'd think this team played in the 80s
Not really. This looks like a early 00's video lol
come on man, starting 5: steve nash, jason richardson, shawn marion, amare stoudemire, boris diaw. WHY NO RINGZ?
Emilios Powerballer because whenever they lost they changed their roster up, their 1st mistake was trading joe johnson
injuries, bad refereeing, fixed games and suspensions 👌

If the 2015 warriors were playing this suns team, they would have scored like about 180 points on them.
