    Hi Kate, the performance of ACC is defined by the international standard ISO 15622. The system is deliberately designed as a comfort and convenience system with limited brake interventions and vehicle acceleration. If the systems braking performance is not sufficient, e.g. strong braking vehicle ahead, ACC gives a “take over request” to the driver. In this case, the driver has to brake the vehicle manually. He is responsible to monitor the speed and distance to the vehicle ahead at any time.

    It won't respond to a dog, crash barriers, cones or anything smaller or less mobile than a car, it will also only brake up to a certain percentage of the car's full braking capacity, requesting human input when this is exceeded. Some ACCs can also be set to hold an unsafe distance from the car in front e.g one car length at really stupid speeds (e.g. 80+mph). All in all, any driver using it who really relaxes while it is switched on is likely to react a lot slower when an accident is imminent.

    Will this work on manual transmissions or only on automatic transmissions?

    I have this on my 06 Cadillac DTS and love it. Unfortunate it takes a Cadillac decal instead of a standard Cadillac Chrome Wreath. It can't see thru metal.

    Can this system be installed on an RV?

    How can I buy this? Do you know if they have seperated device or only build-in device? I can not find it anywhere!
    Thank you vry much

      @Moon Lone: ACC is not available as an aftermarket solution as the system cannot be retrofitted. In the vehicle, you need to have a surround sensor available (e.g. radar sensor) as well as an ACC-adapted brake control system (ESP®). As the brake control system decelerates the vehicle automatically in ACC mode, in case you are approaching a slower vehicle, it is used more frequently than just for ESP® interventions (in case of skidding risk).

    Does the system can differentiate between a car and a road guard or pole especially during a curvy road?

    • @boschmobility
      @boschmobility  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Avirup Basu Yes. The system can differentiate between vehicles (moving objects) and guardrails or poles (stationary objects). The decision as to which of the detected objects is used as the reference for ACC is essentially based on a comparison between the positions and motion of the detected objects and the motion of the ACC equipped vehicle.
      When negotiating tight bends, the systems senor(s) can “lose sight” of the vehicle ahead. Until the vehicle ahead comes in sight of the sensor(s) again, special measures come into effect.
      Depending on the vehicle manufacturer, the speed, for example, is kept constant, current lateral acceleration is adapted, or ACC is switched off.

    Can thus be retrofitted

    • @boschmobility
      @boschmobility  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your interest in our products. Our ACC system is developed in close cooperation with the car manufacturers in order to address the specific requirements and demands of the car. Therefore the system cannot be retrofitted and have to be adapted to the specific vehicle during the development process.

    What is the resolution of the radar?

    • @boschmobility
      @boschmobility  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gromitdog1 This long-range radar 3 can detect object in a distance of up to 250 meters.

    • @Gromitdog1
      @Gromitdog1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bosch Mobility Solutions Yes but the radar must have some sort of method of scanning and differentiating location, is it a phased array? At 250 meters the area covered would be quite large and you would pick up all surrounding lanes.

      @boschmobility  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +Gromitdog1 „The LRR3 sensor is a mono-static Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar with four fixed beams. The main task of the radar sensor is to detect objects and measure their velocity and position relative to the movement of the host radar-equipped vehicle. To do this, the sensor has four antenna elements that simultaneously transmit radar waves in the frequency range between 76 and 77 GHz. These waves are reflected by objects in front of the vehicle. By comparing the amplitudes and phases of the signal echo received by the antenna elements, conclusions about the objects’ position can be drawn. The relative speed of objects is measured using Doppler effect (shift in frequency between the reflected and transmitted signals) and distance to the object can be determined by the time lag.”

    these are all human functions.. just set your speed up to 140 km/h and drive safely on the autobahn.. if a vehicle drives into the lane that you cruise on and the driver behind you can't imagine that you have ACC system, than it is going to happen a rear-end collision..

    ACC is great on a two lane highway where your only option is to follow the bumber in front of you. On the freeway, it is too subtle and you wind up following someone going slower than you wish instead of passing them. When traffic is heavy on the freeway, don't be lazy: turn off the cruise (and all the other distractions) and drive.

    though automated systems like these are useful.. In short term, ppl would have trouble trying to understand what the automated system is doing...In long term, It makes the human species dumb and start depending on systems.. They would lose situational awareness and ability to take decisions on their own..
