    I wouldn't say that "cash is king." What I would say is king is when you mention, "I will buy the bike today if we can agree on price." I have gotten really good deals on motorcycles and cars, but it was my willingness to close the deal immediately that got me the price that I wanted. Dealers and private sellers don't want people that are constantly coming around and just "kicking the tires."

    If you mentioned you are paying cash before walking into the finance office, you did not get the rock bottom price 100% guaranteed. I've been in the car business for years. Started at sales, then internet, the finance, then finance director, then sales manager, the GSM. Got out to finish my EE and became an Engineer to spend more time with the family. I absolutely guarantee you left more money on the table than on you should have

    • @CycleCruza

      I always mention cash and I always get the best deal. Like I said in the video, the dealer would rather you finance BUT in the winter the dealer just wants to move old stock fast, even if they only break even. Often times there is a rebate available in the winter as well.

    As the general manager for a motorcycle shop, this guy is 100% correct. Except for one major point. Always finance a motorcycle, then pay it off on the first month if you have the cash. We all get kickbacks, and they’re worth it, even in the winter time to us. We’ll give you a better deal.

    This technique does work. I just bought a brand new 2017 Honda cbr 1000 rr ABS model from western reserve Honda in mentor, Ohio. That bike retails for almost $16k and I got it for $11,400. Negotiated over the phone so I didn’t waste my time, and talked him down a bit. Another dealer near me was selling the same bike just a 2019 and it didn’t have ABS! For $14,000! Save your money and buy new old stock motorcycles!

    Having worked in the Car Business the best way to get a huge discount is by playing 3 dealers against one another online. Then call each one and you will get the best deal, always have a top dollar price that you are willing to pay. If you get push back find out what the bottom is, NEVER pay dealer FEES, they are just added profit, ie., Dealer Prep Fee, Doc Fee, Electronic Filing Fee those are all just added dealer profit. If you aren’t adverse to the prior year ie., a 2019 now... you will find a great deal because dealers pay Floor Plan which is interest on the motorcycle that they pay each month if not sold either within 60 or 90 days. You can get a great price.

  • @scottfree9994
    @scottfree9994 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    CC is exactly correct. Winter time is the BEST time and Cycle trader is the motorcycle bible. That's how I got my local dealer to match the price on my current Reb 500 2019 I bought last year. The dude knew that I had trailer fee and all other expenses calculated and ready to get to Kentucky. So the guy's like screw it I'd rather have a local customer build a rapport with him etc. And for them it's the smart play in the long run. Services , future bike purchases etc.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah often times, a dealer will sell a bike at a low profit or no profit just to get a new customer to build a relationship with and make money on servicing the bike or selling gear, etc. Sometimes they just want to get rid of old stock fast, especially in the winter.

    You only negotiating on the internet or by phone is pro tip. Because they will literally drag your time out to get you to commit.
    I went to a dealership and what I did was, if I was in an office or area where they were dragging my tone out I’d literally have my pad on my lap and be calling other dealers asking if they could match or beat. And then Id they were still slow to come back id walk out “on the phone” even if I wasn’t and when I got stopped I’d say “this is my number for me to stay”. And let the negotiations begin, after often times they say they won’t negotiate

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Not true, often times you can get left-over new bikes at a dealer for nearly the same cost as what people are selling their used bikes on craigslist for. When I wanted a cbr1000rr back in 2014, I bought my left-over new 2012 cbr1000rr for $8,995 out in PA from a Honda dealer, private party sellers in CL wanted 12k at the cheapest for the same bike used and many sellers were trying to sell their old 2008 cbr1000rr with mods for over 10k! I'll take leftover new for a cheaper price or even the same price any day!. There are rebates at dealers on old stock during the winter, you can save a lot. Btw, I bought my former 17' Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 factory mint with 700 miles from an Aprilia dealer for 13k with a factory warranty, private parties on Craigslist wanted 14k for their bike with more miles. Don't always assume private party sellers are cheaper. Also, good luck suing a private party if you get a shit bike, a dealer's rep is on the line, so they will be more inclined to sell you a good used bike and with a left-over new bike you have nothing to worry about.

      CycleCruza I agree leftover models are the best deal and you don’t have to worry about how bad the bike was abused and ragged out I got 4,000$ off a 2 year old GSX-R 0 miles most private sellers was asking for 500$ to 1000 dollars more with 8,000 plus miles because they bought the current year model and took a hit.Granted I had to drive 2 hrs away to pick her up but in the long run was worth it

The best prices are from private sellers but Im sketched out on trusting them to actually ship it to me if I pay for the shipping. They could just take my money and run. Hey CycleCruza would you consider making a video talking about dealership fees? I get tax, title and licensing vary state by state, but things like shipping (from country of manufacture to the dealer), setup, etc etc? I went into a Yamaha dealer today and long story short, was quoted around $10k for a 2020 MT-07 MSRP at $7499. Is that high, or does that sound about right for an OTD price from a dealer? P.S. this is in Texas

    • @jvillain9946

      Youre not getting away from tax, title and licensing. Thats a set rate from your state. But they will try to charge you shipment, crating, servicing, paperwork fees, etc. Thats where they make their money, next to financing and warrantees. Thats why he talks about out the door price bc all that is included in the otd price.

    I always get my financing ready ahead of time and then research what the bike I want is selling for at all the dealerships across the state and then I go in with cash in hand and tell them exactly what I'll give them for the bike. I don't lowball them but I go about $500-$1000 lower than their sticker. If they come back and say they can't sell for what i'm asking but can sell for a few hundred $ more I say that i'm getting paid again in two weeks and i'll be back, so far they've never let me leave and end up giving me the bike for the price I told them I was willing to pay cash for that day. When they know you've got cash ready to drop they don't want you to wait two weeks because chances are youll get it somewhere else for a few hundred dollars cheaper during that time. I'd never finance a bike through the dealer, that's playing into their hands and you'll end up paying sticker price + dealer fees / set up fees / unboxing fees etc

    Why even call. When I bought my current bike I knew that was what I wanted, So scatter e-mailed every dealer in like a 200 mile radius who had one in stock, Saying here is what I will pay for it. Some didn't even respond, some counter offered and a couple said yea we can do that. Went with the closest one who was 80 miles away. Yea you need to do your research so your offer isn't totally absurd and I agree leftover (mine was a two year) is the way to go with a new bike.

  • @mrmuncheez374

    I kinda agree, but if you don't care about waiting for the bike and you got cash. Me, I didn't want to wait and look all over the country and deal with shipping across the country etc and buying a bike sight unseen in person.
    I visited my local dealer, looked at the couple of bikes I was interested in and finally got my 2019 Ninja 650, brand new, 1 mile on ut. These guys were not pushy and we're helpful actually.
    Kawasaki took off $1000 for the promo that wasn't offered when I first started looking... Plus, the dealer took off a couple hundred more and also waived the $300 in prep and destination fees. So $6800 plus tax I was very happy with. This is the ABS model in Candy Steel Furnace Orange and Metallic Spark Black. There's not a lot of markup on the smaller cheaper bikes so I was glad to get that deal. I had to finance most of it too. I didn't have the luxury of offering all cash. There are many ppl that got my same bike and paid like $8k. I did add the additional 4 yrs of warranty for$500.
    If your after a bike that's 15k-25k, sure, you got more wiggle room and might even find a private person too with buyers remorse and now just wants to sell it for what they can get, so that cash in hand might work wonders 😆😂👍
