I have condemned many different clans and creeds in our discussions. The sins of the Tremere, the grotesque brutality of the Tzimisce, the foolishness of my cousins the Giovanni... but none of these compare to the depths of hatred I feel for the Baali. Like yourself, Ashspawn, I have been deeply wounded by them. Their vile poison took my sire from me, a man I loved like I have loved no other. A hole in my heart that can never be filled was ripped open that night, as their hellfire consumed his soul. Should you come upon their trail, do seek me out. You will have my loyal servants, my undead warriors, my hungering blade, my peerless sight, and the full weight of my sorcery to draw upon in the hunt. I shall ask no boon or condition, save that we slay the demonspawn. It is the duty of all to rid the world of these God's mistakes. Only a fool sees himself as beyond the corruption they unleash.
The Mages know that your last statement is wrong, there are those who are right to view themselves beyond their corruption. Where to start....well i go into detail in my video series on the Baali. Problem 1 being that the Baali, more than any other clan, have been retconned each version of the game, an sometimeswithin the same version. Their origin stories differ wildly, one of them making them predate caine so while vampires they would not be cainites. That said we have cross references in non vampire books that are enlightening and confirm the standard Saulot made them story but there is at least 2 second generation Baali running around, one of which got there via diablerie and the other was the first vampire to ever be embraced so the first of the second generation (The crone) Next, "the Baali" dont exist as in Clan Baali is very very split in itself, you have various groups / bloodlines that fight each other, most notably the Nergali (the ONLY Baali worshipping demons) the Molochim (who enslave demons) and the swarm (who dont deal with demons at all, rather fomori) And these are split again into groups like the enigmas, the inner light and other factions that usually dont like each other too much and kinda correspond with the factions from demon the fallen but are not the same, just similiar interests That said the clan weakness you mentioned is also not the same among versions, andin most the Baali are a rumor and Toreador wouldnt wear crosses to protectthem as they either dont believe the Baali are a thing or crosses wouldnt actually work anyway. "Baali" translates to "Lords" - thats what they are and strife for. Nergali want to be Lords of hell, Molochim want to be Lords of the world, Swarm wants to lord over the abyss. degenerates is also only fitting for the swarm. The Molochim are usually very sophisticated and view what they do from apragmatic perspective, they dont enjoy what they do, they do it because it is effective. To history - as said many versions but the Saulot one has the most solid evidence. There is a Tremere ritual to tellones clan from tasting their blood, and if its used on a Baali you need 6+ successes to tell its not actually Tremere blood, as the difference is very nuanced. And that would be explainable 3 ways - 1) having the same clan founder (Saulot but somehow this doesnt apply to salubri) 2) infernal influence in the blood (as Tremere dabbled a lot in infernalism and thaumaturgy itself is of demonic origin) 3) The Baali likely had a hand in the very foundation of the Tremere and at least 1 in the circle of 7 is confirmed Baali so hos blood would be mixed in the vial everyone has to drink from to be bound The Baali wars actually predate the punic wars. As in by milennia. The first Baali war was fought in the second city. It took 3 antedeluvians and Moloch to take down Nergal. To Baali powers - they are the only clan that united all others in a war against them....and they survived it. twice. Nergal managed to become an actual demon and thus truly immortal making Nergal the most powerfull vampire around - if you go for the canon ending of revised where caine was destroyed. The Baali have 2 second generation vampires amongst their ranks, making them the most powerfull clan generation wise. Ironicly the second would be clan Pander having one second generation (stoneman) amongst their rank. The Baali also made a demon into a Baali (Mary the black) so technicly having another truly immortal being. to powers...eh....the Baali do have blood sorcery - dark thaumaturgy. Which is basicly the exact same as normal thaumaturgy with the only difference being nasty side effects for the user. But technicly you can sue dark thaum rating to learn normal thaum paths and vice versa. Also dark thaum can be taught without demons involved, its just a bad idea as they dont like that. Daimonion is NOT blood sorcery either, it is a legit discipline. You dont need all the knowledge, preperation and training for daimonion that you would need for blood sorcery. The re Embrace is a daimonion 6 power. Its not blood sorcery but an actual embrace. That said other clans who can do it DO use magic to achieve similiar effects likeclan Pander with the ritual "one of my tribe" Finally the Baali have one thing i really want to stress - the original embrace from a mortal is the same, its tradition. You are exanguinated to the point of dying, thrown down into a hole filled with rotting corpses, one of which has a vitae filled rotting heart in its chest, you are to find it, claw the heart out, and eat it. That will turn you. Which ironicly makes the Baali the ONLY clan in existance that dont forcethe embrace on you, you are to embrace yourself
