- China unveiled the largest, highest-level, and most structurally complex tomb from the ancient state of Chu on Tuesday. Dating back 2,200 years and located in Huainan, Anhui Province, the Wuwangdun tomb has yielded over 1,000 artifacts including bronze wares, daily utensils, and musical instruments. The tomb, looted multiple times in history, underwent a salvage excavation that started from 2020. Its grandeur and scale lead to speculation that the tomb's owner might have been King Kaolie of Chu during the late Warring States Period (475-221 BC), though the owner’s identity remains to be confirmed.
Spanning over 140 square kilometers, the Wuwangdun complex includes a main burial chamber (Tomb No.1), chariot and horse pits, accompanying graves, and sacrificial pits. Tomb No.1 features burial chambers arranged in a cross shape with eight side chambers around a central one, each covered with four layers of planks. Around 1,000 ink-drawn characters were found on the coffin lid planks, indicating the positions and functions of each side chamber.
The effort sheds light on construction techniques of large-scale tombs during the late Warring States Period.

China is full of hidden treasures! Love China!❤
Me too
You are hurting the feelings of Koreans.
Another astonishing history way back the time BC wow
Meanwhile in the great US of A..they debate and arguing on "what's the definition of a woman"😅
Hopefully such U$ culture will remain in the U$ and never spread anywhere else.
I@@monipenny408I agree no other country should deal with our non sence culture .
That’s another excited and amazing discovery. The tomb was looted many times before. The thieves might have been descendants of Chu dynasty.
Amazing find!!!
Massive effort.
Respect for the planing and care to give us a glimpse of the past.
✌️❤️🇳🇿
What a organized excavation with order and cleanliness not to mention solid access to the site. Wow China!!!
They don't show you the two foreign PhD that have organized it :))
Having visited a number of ancient sites in China its aways fascinating to get a glimpse back in history. Great to see archaeological preservation of the site being given such attention. Looking forward to whats next.
but those are capitalist signs
No more looting from Anglo-Saxon 🤭
And Germans.
Now the looting is done by the CCP. These tombs should not be disturbed.
The Koreans will claim it's theirs.
@yzl5450 Koreans claim everything -
Korean soy sauce
Korean fried chicken
Korean sushi
Korean pizza
Korean burger
@@darthhideousuk Did you know that Kimchi originated from China? Go to Szechuan or Chongqing and you will be shocked to see that there is more varieties of Kimchi than the one you find in Korea. 🤭Historical records show that Kimchi has existed at least 500 years ago in China. Korean and Japanese monks came to China and they saw things and took them home.
Amazing🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 forever waiting for qin shi huang's tomb
中国政府很多年前就规定,不挖掘所有皇帝的陵墓。因为没有好的保存方法会毁坏陵墓。
@@WarLionsofGesar yes I know that that ... But its ok to excavate the king's tomb during warring state period????? The reason it will be a long wait till we have good preservation technique coz that would be massive
hopefully they make a documentary film about this soon
The Koreans have already started making a documentary claiming it's theirs.
Just simply amazing.
Very interesting. Many wonders.
Would have been so appropriate to have used the music ‘Chu Shang, Song of Chu Kingdom’ performed by Hubei Chime Bells Orchestra using musical instruments from the tomb of Marquis Yi of Zheng state, circa 433 BC.
beautiful!
These tombs were placed in the ground for a reason. There they should remain.
Amazing
I wish I have a time machine that bring me back to any Chinese dynasty I want and experience life during that time. I wants to go to Song, Ming and Tang dynasty because I loves these eras the most.
very interesting
Amazing there was this much left
This historical site dated back to the world famous of the Three Kingdoms Era, very important and magnificent indeed.
This tomb has nothing to do with Three Kingdoms Era. This site is Warring States Era which is about 500-700 years older than three kingdom era.
😀🙏👍🙏🙂
Rejuventation of the Chinese people also requires careful preservation of her heritage, histortical artefacts and culture. Many historical artefacts and treasures were looted when China was weak and invaded. These are still displayed in foreign museums. So well done to these archeologists.
Just beautiful! It seems like humans came from many areas, not spread so much like scientists say.... but more like plants....
Very exciting
Nice when will I visit this temple
Foreigners restricted.
@@darthhideousuk says who? I have every right to visit this ancient temple since I may have Chinese ancestors based on DNA test.
@@axcelzedd your nationality?
@@darthhideousuk it’s about my DNA not nationality and you can’t stop me from visiting
@@axcelzedd it's not about your DNA. China does not allow foreigners.
🥰
now we just have to wait for the wraith of king chu
Still waiting for you guys to open up Qin Shi Huang Di's tomb. It may not be as bad as you think. To have boobi traps and a river of mercury would be considered remarkable feats of ingenuity!!
it's impossible,let him alone
China's archeology technique and preservation has come a long way!
Overlord Xiang Yu, is that you?
the kingdom which his ancestors serve for
Hope they don't find the chinese version of imhotep.😊😊😊
LKY, Little-D-boi's country is the future where the future never arrives.
Anything similar erected by the Malay Sultanate...since they said their history predates China?
lmao are you kidding? China civilization is one of the oldest. around 4000 BC or something. The earliest record of known kingdom in Malaysia is probably the Sungai Batu civilization, and that was only 500 BC. Even the Romans were already thriving at that time.
How old does a tomb need to be before grave robbing becomes archaeology?
This is a restoration job. Not a western robbing expedition.
@@yaelz6043 So they will cover it all up with earth after putting everything back once catalogued? That will be great.
@@skaraborgcraft Grave-robbing never becomes archaeology because they stem from completely different motives.
The first is done by unscrupulous people for illegal profit, where the artefacts are sold and will never again see the light of day again and all the history that we may learn from them are lost.
The latter is for exploring our own past so we learn how our ancestors managed their lives and understand the processes of history which lead to our present day.
You probably thought you are a clever edgelord by asking inane questions, eh?
so afraid of culture because your ancestors were berry picking monkeys?
@@skaraborgcraft反正不会被抢去西方
Can't anyone there speak?
It may have been used as a tomb by later civilisation.
But original purpose is same as pyramids in Europe and South America and Mexico and Egypt.
Probably a Power manufacturing center.
Extracting from space and transmitting via lay lines.
In India Hindus are Cremated except so ultra High level Monks so we don't have tombs, & जो था उसे लूट लिया और तोड़ दिया मुस्लिमों ने
😅😂
That’s my grandfather’s grave.
And the ancient discovery says... the ccp has lost the mandate of heaven. Or finding those pillar could mean the "if found you have unleashed our traditional curse".
These artifacts belong in the British or French Museum. China must give antiquities to British and French.
🤣🤣🤣 are you high?
Please take your mess for your mental health
@@bobbymoss6160 Koreans will come to claim it as theirs.
Grave robbers
Ah yes, back in de days that the Chinese could build something decent.
This is history of Xinjiang part of Pakistan 🖤

that's why the whole pxtn is chinese territory.
Check yourself in a sanctuary
Xinjiang should ban people from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Middle East.
Pakistan did not come into existence as a nation until the partitioning in 1947AD. 😂😂😂
I hope they finally find their long lost decency in there. They sure need it now that they’re squatting and claiming the Philippine islands as their own.
That's it, chinese gonna claim that they invented the moon.
"Look!! It was inside the grave!"
Amazing
