An ancient tomb found in the northwestern Chinese province of Shaanxi has been confirmed to belong to Emperor Wen of the Han dynasty (202BC-AD220). The link was officially announced on December 14, 2021, four years after the discovery of the site in Jiangcun village in Xian city. The emperor’s final resting place had for centuries been thought to be under the nearby Fenghuangzui or “Phoenix Mouth Mountain”. Archaeologists said they determined the correct location using clues including the structure’s shape and artefacts recovered there. The fifth emperor of the Han dynasty, also known as Liu Heng, reigned between 180-157BC.
