- These are the BEST kind of sidearms in Destiny 2, but nobody uses them! Everyone is so hooked on The Drang and Heliocentric QSC, meanwhile rapid-fire sidearms such as Mykel's Reverence, Punching Out, and Fioritura-59 have a much more consistent TTK and forgiveness.

Not true range is important on sidearms more then stability. Anybody that’s good at pvp can land there shots with decent stability.
Each sidearm archetype is good in this archetype. Rapid not being popular because of there perk rolls. Many just don’t have good enough perks list for pvp.
Range so important and not every sidearm going be use at same range. Drang more popular because it’s craftable with enhance perks.

John Rambo here. Saw this sidearm video pop up in my feed and had to check it out. I have 30k kills on my fools remedy now. I picked it up from iron banner one day and could never put it down. Been waiting forever for them to bring it back so I can get a better roll. My roll has iron grip and 100 stability. I think fools remedy also has the highest aim assist of the rapid fires. Thanks for the shout out!
Ayyy ggs. I matched you in trials quite a bit and you inspired me to try your build! I snagged quick flawless with it on Jav. Now that Mountaintop is coming back and they are un-nerfing the airborne effectiveness nerf, are u gonna use that over Witherhoard?
Yeah remedy is nuts with the right rolls don't waste time on damage perks sure they make your kills faster but if you focus your efforts on consistency the gun performs really well without damage perks. I found that pairing fools remedy with witherhoard and having as much handling and range as possible then you can just tag the enemy with the witherhoard damage wether it's direct hit or the ground doesn't matter it's just the damage bc one tick of witherhoard makes the rapid fire sidearms chew threw the rest of their health extremely fast. I've got somewhere between 10 and 15k kills on fools remedy and 3k kills on witherhoard 😅 but I haven't played PVP seriously in about 2 years bc of the state of crucible 😢😢
Now something I've been unable to get my hands on is punching out with harmony.... Get the witherhoard kill proc harmony get the harmony kill witherhoard reloads start over.... Sounds gimmicky tho.... There was an arc one of these from the season of plunder I can't recall the name for the life of me . But that one rolls with volt shot which in pve I think is my favorite way to play with the witherhoard combo since witherhoard is great for triggering jolt damage constantly and you get the jolt buff from the sidearm ❤🎉 and there is a void one that has destabilizing rounds and repulsor brace which is really good with briarbinds

Have that roll with Arrowhead and Ricochet with Handling MW. Very sticky with crits and when offhand is active, stretches you out to like 20m before falloff.
Ive genuinely focused about 400+ engrams at banshee trying to get a fullbore / extended mag /hipfire /offhand strike /range MW to run with mechaneers on hunter.
Been farming since focusing became a thing, basically. I literally ONLY GOT ONE HIPFIRE/OFFHAND roll PERIOD
I randomly dusted off an old Fool's Remedy with moving target/kill clip. I was absolutely shocked at how fast this thing melts. For once my hoarding actually did me some good.
Hi I actually have a Heliocentric qsc with Heal clip / Kill clip. Would that really be your God roll? Love your content. What about your PVE god roll for Fioritura-59 and Heliocentric?❤. I know Heliocentric is Lightweight frame btw

Edit 2: Damage perks are the best way to add "range" to sidearms. Since they already have tremendous aim assist, the AA falloff of a low range stat doesn't hurt them so badly. Also, Killing Wind easily puts them in Fusion Rifle territory.

As a sidearm main too, The range deffo does matter. You can literally feel it between archetypes. 450’s are great. They melt super fast… But their severe lack of range will get you killed *alot!* in a competent lobby. They wont even let you get close enough for it to be effective. Against easy players or bots though, no problem. The 300’s are deffo the best archetype next to the three burst fire ones. Travellers chosen & last dance. Jheeezzee. Chaos!
I agree. One of the favorites I keep is THE FOOL'S REMEDY with high caliber rounds, hip fire grip, kill clip and range MW. Amazing PVP weapon! Drang remains a monster.
Some nice moves zipping around; I'm going to investigate the load out, and the sidearms, as mentioned! I already have everyone's current favourite Heliocentric 'heal clip / kill clip' which is great...though habit usually means a Drang...but, after this...vid, maybe it's time for a change! Drang used to have even more range (due to the highest zoom in the game) but it's been dialed back. But sure, I can see myself running Brigand's Law, craftable and all. Perpetual motion, surrounded, enhanced? Maybe Rangefinder (in spite of range not mattering). Or even just Voltshot, even in PvP.
Drang and every other 300 is still better. Far better range. Much better aim assist. More stability. Less floaty recoil. The range on 450’s are so shit you’ll be dead alot of the time you reach engagement range unless youre playing a team of crap players like in this video. This gun will get you killed in any above average lobby.

Preach! Absolutely love the gun. I have so many different roles. Now I'm just trying to come up with the build for my warlock with this gun with void

I've been using threat detector with repulser brace & astro recently. It's been so much fun to use.
Also headsealer on the 3 Rd burst are really good!!! Sleeping on those!
I've tried that on the High Albedo and the Senuna. Its pretty decent!

I've been running quicksilver and punching out recently, and I've never felt this deadly with an aggressive playstyle before.
Some of these architypes feel different depending on the input. For example, the 3 burst feel a lot more managable than the 2 bursts on controller since the 2 bursts have a lot more kick. Rapid feel great on controller but are a lot less sticky the further the enemy. This is where it feels like the range stat actually comes into play. I crafted my mykels with around 60 stability and enhanced tap the trigger to hit 100 stability and put the rest into range to help it feel stickier at longer ranges. Ive always liked rapid fires on controller but mykels brought it to a whole new level. Best feeling sidearm on controller imo.
Can you share your PvP hunter strand build you’re using here?
Its just Sixth Coyote with max mobility and discipline. Although lately I did sacrifice some mobility to get Tier 7 resilience

Yup. 3,500 or so kills on mine. And 1k on rangefinder kill clip punching out
This archetype has always felt the best to me. Fingers crossed some day i get one with vorpal. I love jumping supers with sidearms.

I use both these fairly often. I'm a PC player, & for some reason a lot PC players don't like sidearms. 3-bursts in the primary slot are underrated too (Senuna), because there are so many more exotics in the primary slot for achieving pvp dominance imo. I go back & forth between 3 & 2 bursts depending on how my aim is that day.
Don't get me wrong. I love The Vision, but every time I use it, I have to ask myself why I'm not just using the Trespasser instead
@nomadicpastSenuna is a Staple for my Bakris hunter...soooo good lol even in pvp surprisingly (I'm ass at pvp and was shredding people EASY)
I have the QSC with Healclip (360 shooter) and Fools Remedy with High Calibre Rounds (450 shooter). Both are excellent weapons. My Fools Remedy reloads faster, which is a factor ...
I don't personally like this thing BUT maybe i just got a bad roll. Yours is definitely better.

I do have a very nice Punching out though - Hammer-forged, High Cal, Threat detector and Kill Clip - and a range MW.
It was actually another creator - Heli - who put me onto the joys of the Punching out.
BUT according to True Vanguard - with the prevalence of Titan Barricade spam in Trials - I'm looking for the Boudica from Hakke - that has the Breach Armaments foundry perk breaks them very nicely.
Yes - Precision frame, but might be worth it for countering the barricades.
I used to love Fioritura! I focused a new one w/ kill clip/rampage and it’s disgusting! I have been frying guardians left and right with this thing. Almost 300 kills on it in a week (that’s a lot for me), so big THANKS to Maven for keeping things fresh, fun, and deadly!
OMG i have a Fools Remedy with Kill Clip, Feeding Frenzy with 80 stability that is my Vault. guess it's time to dust it down. Also a Punching Out with Kill Clip, Overflow would that be better ? as the PVE damage numbers are higher in the field and the Enclave range, for some reason.
Been using lightweight and precisions (lots of Boudicca) for a while and thought they were the best in the game… Then gave rapid fires a try again… Soooo much better. More forgiving and fun to use. Only slightly less range. Like 1-2 meters, which is a couple steps back.
That said, Mykel’s Reverance is objectively the best rapid fire in the game. Highest range, stability, AE, AA, can get enhanced perks, and paracausal affinity is faster to proc than kill clip and has the same ttk. 🔥 Go farm the raid for this bad boy if you don’t have one yet!

I've used some sidearms here and there this season but I've been doing better with SMG's. Ikelos kills almost as fast as any sidearm and it has more range and a larger mag. I've contiuned to use Unending Tempest too. 120 and SMG has been a pretty successful loadout for me. I do like my heal clip/kill clip helio though.

I usemy cruel remedy with moving target and iron grip..100 stability is like training wheels.sooo good.moving target helps with headshots.reoads a bit slow but not bad.100 stability and 74 handling.also drang has solar flash pretty bad.kinda hard to see through.

The only reason I moved from my futuroa-59 kill clip zen was because of Helios heal clip. Heal clip works so will with the trick sleeves play loop. Low health more damage then get your health back after a duel.

I have a question, doesn't the range also affect aim assist & bullet magnetism? So more range, easier hits? Someone once told me, that the difference between 19 and 59 range (the min and max range of the scout rifle Servant Leader) is that at min range you're shooting needles, but at max range you're shooting bowling balls. So how is it?
Gun with most kills on my account is Smuggkers Eord. 23k Crucible, 70 k PvE. Bring it back! Love 450s though, too
My Fioritura-59 with zen moment Golden Tricorn does not leave my side. I keep a repulsor brace roll for pve too. And you've definitely earned a sub from me for the rapid fire love!
My only problem with the rapid fire Frames is ammo efficiency, they really struggle outside of duelling one opponent when it requires a reload after every kill, with the burst sidearms I have no problem cleaning up a second kill with the bottom half of the mag.
You make some persuasive points, so I'll have a look; the spreadsheet you showed backs up what you're saying. In fairness, I just watched another content creator make a similar pitch about a specific precision frame sidearm in Trials with the video of his play, so it looks like I have options.
I found a great Fools Remedy in my vault after watching this. Range mw, moving target, KC and high cal rounds. It’s been working great.
My friends always give me 💩 for liking the rapid fire frames. Especially the Dee Dee Dee Dee Dee spam aspect of it lmao. Just a powerhouse peashooter. Over 5k kills on my rapid fire frames.
Maybe for controller, but drang on mnk imo is still the best feeling sidearm. Those and 3 Bursts (I don’t jive with 2 bursts). Some weapons are tuned differently from mnk to controller, and even with a godroll furiatta, hipfire offhand with high stability, another killclip roll as well, base drang still feels infinitely better. Plus it pairs with sturm, and grants the 2 tap

The Fioritura is also insane with repulsor brace and void hunter for PVE. I usually reference to this gun to my clan as the Pew Pew Pew... Because that's what all of them are hearing 😂😅
I agree wholeheartedly that precision sidearms have the highest skill ceiling atm, but rapid fires are probably the best for most. With that being said, as a fellow sidearm enjoyer, all archetypes feel genuinely competitive with the right perks, build, etc.
I did my best work this weekend with Rat King, as it turns out, but when I did lean into the Heal Clip/Kill Clip Heliocentric, it performed well, too. Loved the invis after a kill with the Rat King, though. I want more fireteams of 3 running it!

Sounds good sidearm have to test, i have one now but perks is smallbore, armor piercing rounds, tunnel vision and kill clip + masterwork is range. Have to grind good roll. :)
Punching Out has always been my favorite Sidearm and one of the 1st world drops I found many seasons ago. Another great video and breakdown .
I stopped using them on controller because 'shot lock' on them was infuriating. Must go back and give them a try.
Been using fioritura for ages, it's a little gem. Threat detector/kill clip/ flared maxwell goes off. But don't tell anyone!

Side arms are not the same on MnK. Significantly less efficient because of ghosting. but if you’re on sticks they’re definitely S tier.

As a huge sidearm fan, I believe wholeheartedly that rapid fires should have the lightweight intrinsic bonus..
I love rapid fire sidearms. My brigands law with voltshot is the only thing I use with my arc build.
Mykels from RON is fantastic.. aesthetics of it are sketch AF lol but a very good rapid fire and craftable to boot
Music at 11:00 is so bad. I’m shocked this was used for this section my ears will never recover and my recovery is maxed at 10
The helios is amazing because u can literally strafe hip fire around players and they will consistently miss shots
It's great against sliding shotgunners once u do it once, it's easy to repeat with a lower effort
i know that adagio on emperical evidence doesnt change the ttk much, but when u have it going and hit your headshots on the second player it freaks tf out of them how much health gets taken away on the first burst. my fave sidearm by far

I will say that forgiveness adept (mine has 95 range) allows me to take fights deeper, almost feels like old drang in terms of damage drop off.

On MnK the bodyshot TTK is the real TTK for sidearms. Crits on them just aren't reliable.

Ive been using the vanguard rapid fire with harmony on it- amazing with messenger.
on mnk i always tend to gravitate toward lightweights, they seem to be the easiest to control for me
