    Would you consider urology? What do you think about that patient count?

    Good interview, thanks. I was in primary care from 1983 to 2002 (the medical practice went out of business) then I went to work in Urologic Oncology for the following 19 years (at the same Institution where Innocent practices.) I chose the position because they had an opening and I needed a job. The first 6 months was the hardest thing I had ever done - such a steep learning curve! Like Innocent said, there are so many parts to the urinary tract that making the diagnosis can be challenging. Turned out to be a great job. I’m glad I stuck with it.

    What we don't need is another bunch of NP's with the God complex like Doctors. After two trips to two different NP's, I now wear a medical bracelet that I refuse any and all medical treatments from any Nurse Practitioner's.

    Can you get a NP on the channel?

      Hi Antonio. I actually have interviewed an NP for the EMS video. Here is that link: th-cam.com/video/iIDH-Ws4R7w/w-d-xo.html. As I am a PA, my channel is very PA heavy, but your point is well taken. I will try to get more NPs on the channel in the future! Thanks for watching and for your comment!

    How do we get more females in urology? I absolutely hate being forced in to seeing a male. I'd almost rather die than see a male. Lessen the humiliation by getting more females involved.

    • @TheMedicineCouch
      @TheMedicineCouch  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, females are coming into medicine in a higher rate so eventually we will filter to all specialties. Unfortunately for you, it doesn't sound like it will happen soon enough. I know for many people it can be very difficult seeing urology providers of the opposite sex and I'm sorry you don't have a female provider you can see. All I can offer that can help you right now is to assure you that medical providers, especially those that work in urology, have heard and seen everything. We think of human bodies differently than the general public so we don't ascribe any embarrassment or shame to certain parts of the body. It's all just routine to us and all we are focused on is the medicine. I'm probably not describing what I mean very well. I'm just trying to get you to understand that we don't hold any judgement about you or your problem. So, while it's way easier said than done, please try not to feel embarrassed if you have to see a male urology provider. I wish you all the best and hope for a female urology provider to come your way soon!

      @@TheMedicineCouch Thanks for the reply. However, I don't care how many penises the doctor has seen. It's not about the doctor being comfortable. It's about me in a trauma response. I'm the one that needs help, not him.
      I'm holding out as long as possible hoping a female will eventually get here. If not, who knows what my happen?

    • @TheMedicineCouch
      @TheMedicineCouch  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I didn’t express myself well. I wasn’t worried how the doctor feels, I was trying to explain how we think hoping it might make you feel more comfortable somehow.

      @@TheMedicineCouch It's all good. I understood what you were saying. Unfortunately male doctors are just so triggering for me so I started going into a trauma response. Guess I have something to discuss with my therapist. Sorry I responded the way I did.

      No worries! We all have our own things that are difficult.
