+DJRickyLee1 good find. I’m not sure why that option is not in the pro mode. The performance layout essentially becomes that once you change the waveform display.
VirtualDJ one more thing. The record option. In the pro mode you have the option of recording under the master tab without going into setting but in performance mode the option disappears. Can you add the record button in there too?
@@ClevelandTerry yes, the performance layout doesnt have a "full mixer" in the middle as the other layouts have. Instead it has "racks" that you can opt what to show as vertical bars under the deck. We might add a record rack there, or just add a record button to the mixer rack :)
Great review Terry, I concur with your conclusions and as a long time user of VDJ, I think they have done a great job on the GUI. I'm a professional IT guy, including software development so have always been able to get VDJ to do what I wanted but great to see that they have made it so simple with a couple of clicks to satisfy even the most ardent serato user with a familiar interface. Perhaps with more open minded reviews like yours they will be able to finally shake off the negative prejudice. It's a great product to take a DJ from beginner to professional. Great job on review, good clear advice
I saw Virtual Dj FB like and Twitter and IG. They really love your feed back so I think they really paid attention what you putting out so keep up the work. Also I'm a VDJ user since 2010 and some of the points you point out its very true. I just Subscribed to your page so I will keep up with your contents keep up the great work. Funk Up Salute Peace
Glad you took the time to review it after the update. As somebody that's used it for years, it still was a huge improvement in my eyes and really made it feel more modern. Thanks for the great video!
Good one! Just downloaded it as well and busy checking it out. But so far, this is honestly a game changer. After switching to Serato, I was one of those who always though VDJ was trash... until now! Impressed
@@ClevelandTerry No kidding! Well credit where credit's due - your elocution is superb as a video presenter, your points come across consistently clear. Coincidentally I've been looking today at local voice over courses to utilise what I've got, but also to see if it might help my MCing at weddings, which is slippery most of the time.
Thanks Cleveland Terry keep em coming. If you want to record on the fly in VDJ you don't need to go into settings, if you open the "master" interface there you have record. If you go to settings you can make more customizations like audio formats, break recordings into tracks, auto start recording once sound is played etc.
At 2:59 I just had to start laughing lol. You know why? Because I agree with you! Of course there is no proof, but I also think VDJ listened to your feedback and implemented exactly what you suggested. Kudos to you Terry!
I love the update ( I've also been using VDJ for almost 13 years ). It was cool to see you try out the software a few months ago. It's even cooler to see you stand in support of VDJ and say it has the potential to be the best software and that it can stand toe to toe with the big boys. In the Pro layout if you click on the master tab you can record without going into the menu.
You know what... This is why I like you. You do an excellent job of explaining your personal like and dislike with a quality of educating. Great video. I need to start recording again, and the first video would be that phase setup on VDJ.
The good actual point to get out of this based on what you said and to put it clearer is this vdj give you the flexibility to buy any hardware you want despite brand or ties.
its been the best software out for years, not by a landslide, by a tsunami. Thats why i switched over from serato dj pro and scratch live afyer almost 10 years.
Great video as always and this is actually pretty interesting that i just found out, and its that on each deck, there is a user buttons section, and you can set custom action for them, and if you click one of the empty button you press ok, and then you pick a category from a list, and one of them is Record, and then in the action on of the actions is Record, and you can name the button, but its already named. So now you can press the custom button and it will ask you to save the recording and you can choose the file type MP3, wave etc.., and record your mix without going into the settings each time . So it might not be a default button like in serato, but its actually even less steps than serato to record your mixes. Vdj keeps surprising me, and i like it.
I love Vdj, I heard all the criticism before it's not professional, it not stable, it's too complicated and so on. I left dealing with serato and never looked back. The one thing I love most about Vdj. Is that they don't price gouge like Serato. When I buy a car I don't just buy it and hope it has wheels and a steering wheel with it. Serato does just that. Want to mix video you have to pay for the plugin, want to use dvs, plugin, scratch and record more plugin. I'm surprised people have hung with them for so long.
About the recording button if you click master button the record button is right there easy as pie along with the broadcast button and after you finish recording all options are displayed for name and location to save
Hey Terry, Great review. If you want to record without going into settings all you have to do is (if you are in Pro mode) is click Master at the Top of the mixer section and on the left hand side is a record button. But you will have to go into settings to set the type of file and where to store it. I hope that helps! Thank you again for all you do!!
You can set a custom button in the user section on each deck to record, and when you press the buttion you set(record) it asks you to save the file, and you can choose the file type without going into the setting at all.
Wow! You've come a long way since you're very first review of virtual DJ. This new update was pretty rad. I think the second day that it came out somebody on the forums claimed that if you go into performance layout you can get vertical waveforms and then just switch back. I am unsure because I haven't tried it but I will. But dammit dude... I seen your face. You aren't switching back. Welcome aboard. Great review though 👌 very great
You hit the nail right on the head, I’ve always used VDJ for bar gigs/karaoke and firstly Serato then after I got the ddj1000 Rekordbox dj, for every other event, but...... after this update I guess I’m gonna go exclusively to VDJ it’s got pretty much everything i need, and now a great GUI. Great vlog buddy, thanks! 🎤🎧😎
Everyone single one of them has their strengths. For all DJ's out there: learn, learn, learn, practice, practice, practice to perfection every single one of the major software's, they got to be good enough so, only you as an un-skilled entratainer it's to blame actually. I'm sure that every working DJ out there, can afford to buy all the major dj software's for less than 1000$ so, you can have it to practice and perform live. Terry, this was kinda good review video so, thumbs up. P.S. I own all 3 of them. If tomorrow another better software will show up on the market, I'll be all there. I've started the computer dj-ing with winamp and look where we've got in 2020. Before than i was on CD's (parties from 7 pm till 6 am).
Goodd review, the best in all, regarding about the the scratch wave go to perfomance mode and in the dropdown list you will see waveform display and you will find the vertical scratch wave only no top wave. Keep up the good job's positive reviews.
Great Video. I have Serato, Rekordbox and Virtual DJ 2020. I agree that VDJ2020 is the Best "UNIVERSAL" DJ Software. I used it with my DDJ-SX2 (Flawless) and DDJ-1000 (Minor Issues). Although, REC is on the Pro and Essential Mode, it not on the Performance Mode, which I am going back and forth from Pro to Performance. I did notice, Performance actually use less CPU resources, even with Video. Since I play Videos at events, the Preview Mode is only in Performance. Finally, I wish VDJ2020 allow the me to use the hardware effects on my DDJ-1000 in the Beat FX vs the software version they have. I noticed when I move the Beat FX channel to Mic, the Hardware FX kicks in. I need to figure out how to get it to work on all channels. For my DMX lights, I use Soundswitch, which works great with VDJ2020. Finally, let me at least adjust the wave forms. Other than a few tweaks, I love VDJ2020.
Cleveland, A great review as usual. was using at the weekend, even my colleague was like what software is that? needless to say the interface needs tweaking but the presentation of this software, for me, beats the big boys. I use it a lot for real-time video mixing and even that's been refined.. same setup, more FPS. looking forward to and update from yourself soon (and more features from VDJ, Cough Cough). you speak the whole community of VDJ Listens. JAMMI
Mark Hudson As I have found out, it’s not in every layout. It’s funny, if you choose the layout with vertical wave files you lose the master setting, but if you choose recording, you have to deal with the larger horizontal wave files
@@ClevelandTerry I'm using the PRO skin with the vertical scratch wave and I still see the MASTER panel. Looks like MASTER is not on the STARTER and PERFORMANCE Skins. I also agree with you about the size and an option to remove the huge horizontal wave pane. Great video. Thank you.
Great Video and Thank You! I have. Couple of questions regarding VDJ and the DDJ1000 SRT. I know they are compatible, but do you know if they work well together and if many of the VDJ features work on the SRT version? And also, are the waveforms visible on the jog wheel displays? Thanks in advance!!!
Hey Terry, you can create a button for the record feature (i believe there are 4 unused buttons next to the jogwheel) on the UI using codes you can find on the vdj forums or actually by clicking on the unused buttons it gives you options of functions that could be assigned to the buttons no coding required. I added the record and the deck clone feature to mine.
I updated an hour before my show thinking it wasn't a big change lol. I was WRONG! Made due with it and have learned a ton since. It's a good update IMO
I have used VDJ extensively for many years in the past, I switched to Serato about 1 year ago. That being said, the amount of software licensing errors in Serato I have had are ridiculous, I am seriously thinking of returning to VDJ, thanks for your review brother.
Terry, if you set the xp1 as a separate controller in the settings tab by right clicking on the mapping it stops all the glitching with cues white pads ect, used to bug the shit out of me till they implemented this feature.
It would be awesome if you can do a video on this or a step by step. Terry if you figure it out can you please do a follow up on the XP1. I really enjoy your videos. Thank You :-)👍
With regards to your issue with the recording you can create your own buttons on the interface and assign what action you want in this case recording. It will record in whatever format you choose in the setting menu for recording.
Have not listened as yet but dont say a bad word about VDJ Pro 2020. Pro is my GUI Choice. Love the Fade Effects. I found its very friendly. Thought I would have found a record setting on the screen and could not find it. Its still my GO TO choice. Now let me listen because you always highlight the Plus/Delta that everyone else would miss.
hey no need to buy an XP2?If you have an XP1 you just need VDJ and a bit of fiddling or some update at some later date ?XP1 owners will be very happy. How much gear do you have?Is that a Reloop Elite?
Hiya Terry, Thank you for the review and taking the time to try VDJ 2020 My Pro's I'm loving the new Pro layout as well. And I'm loving how you can replace the logo with your own. I especially love the jog wheel latency control. I love it how if I need to adjust certain setting I don't have to toggle tabs on Serato to find them, while in VDJ, I just type the key word and the area that needs adjusting, it's very quick and simple. As for all the FX for sounds and vusuals out if the box, it's so great the quantity provided! As for Deezer and other online integrated playlists, that's super cool! My Cons: In the Pro skin, the top area can be adjusted pinching the section to decrease it, but you can't get rid of it. Thank you again Terry!

Quick question for you Cleveland, and maybe you've covered this on another video... If I'm purchasing a new laptop and I've been using Virtual DJ, how can I transfer my cached music list (from iDJPool) from the old laptop to the new? I've tried looking it up and couldn't find anything. Thank you in advance!
Good video, I have been a VDJ fan since VDJ 5. I have not got to use the new features yet, but looking forward to using them. I do agree that the effects need work, I also us a SX2 and know what you mean.
Just a quick question is there a setting when once a track has been played rather than it going back to the beginning it removes it from the player either on deck one or deck two I know it does it in the side list and autoplay but I think it would be a nice feature on the main two decks Thanks
Cleveland T, I watched this video and enjoyed it. I that you crowned it the best "universal" software, and for me that is great. No matter what controller I decide to buy it will work. I'm just getting back into DJ-ing (I was at a club and the dj was kickin') after the set I went home and powered up my gear. Are you currently using VDJ?
Hey Cleveland, just getting into this and I know this video is kind of old, but would you say that the New Version of VDJ is better than Serato DJ Pro. I want to map the software effects in VDJ to the pads on my DDJ 1000 SRT, which I am finding is limiting on Serato at least with mapping the software effects to the hardware. Let me know boss.
I'm in a grp with some vdj ppl and some did mention the waveforms being too large and if they could be scalable. A representive from vdj did say they would try to include a feature for that in an upcoming update. Apart from that it do look as tho they listened to u and ur suggestions in ur vid (and personally i believe they did), but in all fairness i think others hv made the similar complaints in general about the UI and so they stepped up. I'm pretty happy with the new improved look it offers and hope they would include a couple things more. There is a skin called V8 by Fruit that has went in and beyond the list of options that can be done with the look of the program and imo, if they could add some of those features in their default interface, it would be a win win situation.
I'm using the no s2 controller & really not finding it easy to toggle the side info player on and off via my controller. Perhaps I need a better suited controller?
Very nice review, I am also not married to any particular software. as long as the workflow is the way i want it when i perform. I will give this software a try , i have not used it since 2016 so i know there is a lot of changes since then. One question. like Denon. does VDJ read relkordbox/Serato metadata?? how does the key lock sound at 20 %?? thanks
I'm looking for that seroto effect but I use vdj. Is there another way to acheive that effect with another piece of equipment or is it now available to be obtained 545
I’ve always used Virtual DJ. I never had a problem with the interface. I actually like it. I opt to still use the old 4 deck skin. The main disappointment with the update with VDJ 2020 is that you cannot use Event Scheduler with the old interface. You must either Select the Essential or Pro option to use the Event Scheduler.
I would switch from serato to vdj if it didn't look so toyish, I tried it last night & was pleasantly surprised how interactive it was, but on the other hand it seems they're trying to add on too much bells & whistles, it was too overwhelming.
there are a lot of auto sections and any changes happen and back you have to go to fix them again.I cant seem to fix the sync and master tempo stuff like i can in Serato .Just about all my auto functions are off as i like full hands on control but i cant seem to sort out the sync.I have key correction on Serato but thats about the only piece of automation i have and once something is set it stays that way .I love Virtualdjs new interface but i agree with you about the waveforms .I like mine vertical and the waveforms at the top are too big making everything else a bit crowded or crushed.I hope they do something about that.Over all they are going in the right direction and they are finally getting some brand recognition outside of the mobile market which is a good thing.I will know better about how good these changes are when i have a new computer.
How do you feel about the overall audio now on on virtual DJ? I know you said and pasta videos that you heard a difference as compared to Serato. I feel there's a audio difference as well. Just wondering what you thank?
+GERARD aka DJ GEE I still feel it sounds different from the competition. I’m not sure if it’s good or bad, just different. I still do hear a slight digital distortion in my headphones but I’ve learned to just deal with it. I have sensitive hearing.
@@ClevelandTerry I'm the same bro! 😄 I hear a slight difference in the audio. My dilemma is I love SERATO, however VD runs so much smoother and faster on my laptop. Unfortunately I still have Windows HP ENVY. SERATO freezes on me sometimes. The waveform will freeze but you can still hear the audio. And it just loads a little slower than I would like. Right now I'm using a numark ns6 II WHICH IS A SERATO DJ controller. I do seem to lose a little bit of effects with virtual DJ. Like my filters are not as sharp etc. I don't know if it's because the controller is made for Serato or not. But I'm trying to figure it all out. But visually virtual DJ looks better now. I still think Serato looks cleaner, but virtual is much improved . That was one of my main gripes. Hopefully I can figure out mapping for my controller to make my experience even better. Let me know if you have thoughts. Thanks for the great content bro!
You dont have to go in the settings, there's a button to change the layout in the middle from the scratch waveform to another area with a button to start/stop the recording and you will get a popup for the filename.
As I have found out, It depends on the layout. If I go to performance so I can get rid of the waveforms up top the record button goes away. It works in pro, but with the horizontal waveforms
@@ClevelandTerry oooh!! I see.... I'm usually in Pro... that's interesting. I guess we all need to inquire about it.. sure they will add that button on the every layout (like it is supposed to be). By the way, excellent review if not the best on youtube... keep it up!!
I got maybe a cool question, if I change pad fx 1 on the DDJ-1000 to loop roll is there any way to keep it on loop roll? When I change it on VDJ2020 then hit hot cue when I go back to pad fx 1 it goes back to the default setting. wish it could stay on loop roll! I need to learn mapping!
8:17 The phase doesn't need to be plugin into VDJ. You can use plug it into a power supply. That's how I have mines set-up. I can do a quick video on that... Give me a week.
D.J.Knightrin I understand what you are saying but was he on a Mac and VDJ or Serato/Rekordbox? I have tried every which way and I can’t get the damn thing to work without it being plugged in.
@@ClevelandTerry I was using a PC with Virtual DJ and he was using a Mac with Serato... There is my video quick video setup... th-cam.com/video/QiTGubiA9Vs/w-d-xo.html
Good points, on the layout interface which needed a facelift. That’s what kept me away too. The effects on Rekordbox and SeratoDJ sound better to me as well. The search engine is faster and easier to navigate than the other two plus supports more audio formats. And the flexibility to use it with just about any hardware is golden. I own Denon and PioneerDJ hardware and had no issues besides the crappy auto functions. Trying to dumb me down while I dj lol 😂
@@kudamah In the Pro Layout, click on the Master Tab directly on the Mixer and it has a REC button. You can also map record to any kb button, controller button, or even a custom button directly on the decks. I have mine mapped to my Logitech G keys so I don't even have to click with the mouse. Also, CTB, the effects were upgraded, the new Echo sounded as good as the competition for me, are you using them Post-Fader or Pre? Maybe you ran into a glitch and need to toggle them off and on from the settings to get them working well. Great video, I've been watching all DJ Software videos especially when they've been updated.
my 68 can be used with VDJ but it needs a lot of mapping and as its getting very old im not sure i will bother but my Numark Scratch works rght out of the box so i can switch from Serato to VDJ with not much bother
I used virtual dj and the pitch fader only changes the speed of the track I manually have to changer the key in the key slot instead of simply using the pith fader icon
+Jayjay Duncan the pitch fader is only designed to adjust speed. If you want to do a key change you’ll have to map two buttons or use hardware that has key change/keyboard pads.
Hey one thing...... how is the vinyl emulation sound compared serato, traktor, rekordbox... I've used all but traktor, and the vinyl scratch emulation sounds different between the 3...
I think that VDJ had to do a couple of things and the first one was to listen as well as observe what was going on out there in relation to other software being used, granted they were the first and totally hacked software for DJs but we live in a world where people want everything for free (even the DJs at their parties....grrrrr) I'm glad they sacked up and made the move to be in line with other apps....I still rock Serato, but when i'm doing my radio show VDJ is just super simple and now its just the lil bit more lovely
As always an excellent video. Can't wait for your thoughts on the xp2. Also if you don't mind, I could use some advice on organizing my music. I don't dj but I would like to do a party once in a while. This is a great channel. Thanks and keep the content coming!
@@ClevelandTerry Ditto. I used to be a full-time DJ for 20+ years but I got out of it right before CDs faded out. I have 5000 songs completely unorganized. It's overwhelming. I have no idea where to start.
I love your descriptive way in the video........However ,you should have shown more of what you were talking about in terms of the actual interface instead of the casual onlooker having to guess what you're talking about ,but seeing you talk about it...Keep up the fine work
@@ClevelandTerry Thanks for the response......I just got the very versatile Virtual 2020 for myself...and have been using it with my Traktor S2 MK2...well thought out and WAY better than the one trick pony most manufacturers include with their hardware..Take Care
It's a shame it does not work with Denon SC5000 decks, I own the Rane system but I run the SC5000 instead of the 12s when I go mobile. I use Serato in the Denon, wish VDJ worked.
If im not mistaking, i believe its Denon who wont allow the SC500 to work in Vdj since it apparently doesnt use the standard MIDI or HID. Hopefully in the future, it will work in Vdj
Wow!!! They still don't have the record on the interface! That sucks!!!! I thought for certain they would have address that. No one has time to go through the settings.
After extensive use of both....VDJ 2020 is Superior to Serato in many aspects. Virtual DJ is a much better mixing experience than you get with Serato. Also another big factor is virtual DJ to Superior in video too. Serato requires videos to be a certain encoding to work. Virtual DJ will play any video. Serato struggles with video even on superior computers. Serato just is not fun to mix with. One feels like they're always struggling against the program instead of the program working with them. Virtual DJ work flawless. Virtual DJ starts in mere seconds. Serato has a long loading time. Serato crashes sometimes or freezes....I have yet to have VDJ 2020 crash, freeze up or slow down. VDJ does not step in the way of creativity or good mixing. With Serato there is always some sort of mental battle. There's always a fear that is going to crash or not work. The GUI is kind of strange and basically doesn't make any sense. Virtual DJ is intuitive and inspires one to create and mix. When I have a pack dance floor the last thing I need to worry about is my software.... Let's be honest.... Forget Serato. They're only used because in the beginning virtual DJ had the reputation of being for beginner DJs. It was for beginner DJ's because it has always been the best and most reliable. Virtual DJ gives you power. Serato takes your power away and makes you worry about it instead of your dance floor....the only good thing about Serato is that its monthly subscription is $5 less than VDJ 2020. Virtual DJ will outperform Serato. That alone is worth the extra $5.
Well GUI is a preference I guess.... But the engine that runs it all, the audio, the mixing, the videos with their transitions vdj 2020 does it all butter smooth with power to spare. Serato does audio pretty good but struggles with video. And I still have yet to understand why it takes Serato so long to start up and shutdown when Vdj 2020 starts up in under a second and/or instantly and closes instantly to. I really really wanted to like Serato too. And I certainly don't hate it. But truth be told, in my experience vdj is the best.
@@wolfrobots118 Serato does suck with video. It's their weakest link. I think Rekordbox has the best audio engine of all 3 mentioned. Startup is stupid slow in serato. If you want to speed it up, toggle off itunes. It starts up faster.
Regardless of my option about software. Your videos are really great. I love how you take us with you on dj experiences or when you have your moments of wisdom with just the right lighting. It's all done great and very useful. Keep it up. I am a subscriber too

But you will have to go into settings to set the type of file and where to store it. I hope that helps! Thank you again for all you do!!
You can set a custom button in the user section on each deck to record, and when you press the buttion you set(record) it asks you to save the file, and you can choose the file type without going into the setting at all.
Great, unbiased review.
aww yea... glad to have you on board big guy!
Well done bruh.. Very centrist review once again.. kudos.
+Charitha Sirimanna thank you
Goodd review, the best in all, regarding about the the scratch wave go to perfomance mode and in the dropdown list you will see waveform display and you will find the vertical scratch wave only no top wave. Keep up the good job's positive reviews.
going to have to give it a try, thanks for the video
Hey Terry, thanks for the review. You always make things easy to understand👍
Im going to check it out DDJ 1000 is my go to unit also VDJ lol wow great vid Terry👍🏽
me too :-)
Great Video.
+Chuck Anthanio I agree about the sound effects on the 1000. I miss them.
JAMMI
The record option is there without going to settings. Go to the master panel and there it is.
Virtual Dj 2020 🤟💪💪
I have used VDJ extensively for many years in the past, I switched to Serato about 1 year ago. That being said, the amount of software licensing errors in Serato I have had are ridiculous, I am seriously thinking of returning to VDJ, thanks for your review brother.
+GamerDad yeah I could see that. Serato is a little bloated...lots of bugs that have never been cleaned up.
Terry, if you set the xp1 as a separate controller in the settings tab by right clicking on the mapping it stops all the glitching with cues white pads ect, used to bug the shit out of me till they implemented this feature.
+DJ TUBBY I’ll check that out man. Thank you.
DJ Ironclad868 yes, i have another video that talks about that.
Have not listened as yet but dont say a bad word about VDJ Pro 2020. Pro is my GUI Choice. Love the Fade Effects. I found its very friendly. Thought I would have found a record setting on the screen and could not find it. Its still my GO TO choice. Now let me listen because you always highlight the Plus/Delta that everyone else would miss.
thanks for the video. vdj is now my industry standard.
hey no need to buy an XP2?If you have an XP1 you just need VDJ and a bit of fiddling or some update at some later date ?XP1 owners will be very happy. How much gear do you have?Is that a Reloop Elite?
Hiya Terry,
Thank you for the review and taking the time to try VDJ 2020
My Pro's
I'm loving the new Pro layout as well.
My Cons:
In the Pro skin, the top area can be adjusted pinching the section to decrease it, but you can't get rid of it.
Thank you again Terry!
+Cosmo Valentino check my latest video. I address it.

Just a quick question is there a setting when once a track has been played rather than it going back to the beginning it removes it from the player either on deck one or deck two I know it does it in the side list and autoplay but I think it would be a nice feature on the main two decks
Thanks
Cleveland T,
I watched this video and enjoyed it.
I agree with what your say, vdj 2020 is really good, works great with dvs
I really like you videos Terry. Thank you for all the DJ info.
+Russell Fowler 🙏🏾
Good to know. Thanks!
The interface always bothered me. Glad they fixed it. One this that VDJ has that serato needs to jump on is automix.
Yes to making the XP1 work fluidly with Virtual Dj! I wonder if we can use the XP2 mapping on the XP1...
+Dj Positive P good question. Unfortunately I won’t have access to one for probably a while.
@@ClevelandTerryhow can I get this software
Mantap pak bosss
I really enjoy your videos dude, keep it up
I feel ya. Cancel out the wave form so more screen for browsing files.
One question. like Denon. does VDJ read relkordbox/Serato metadata?? how does the key lock sound at 20 %?? thanks
you can set to REC by keyboard shortcut right?
I'm looking for that seroto effect but I use vdj. Is there another way to acheive that effect with another piece of equipment or is it now available to be obtained 545
I’ve always used Virtual DJ. I never had a problem with the interface. I actually like it. I opt to still use the old 4 deck skin. The main disappointment with the update with VDJ 2020 is that you cannot use Event Scheduler with the old interface. You must either Select the Essential or Pro option to use the Event Scheduler.
Call this popup window with the script
eventscheduler
I would switch from serato to vdj if it didn't look so toyish, I tried it last night & was pleasantly surprised how interactive it was, but on the other hand it seems they're trying to add on too much bells & whistles, it was too overwhelming.
there are a lot of auto sections and any changes happen and back you have to go to fix them again.I cant seem to fix the sync and master tempo stuff like i can in Serato .Just about all my auto functions are off as i like full hands on control but i cant seem to sort out the sync.I have key correction on Serato but thats about the only piece of automation i have and once something is set it stays that way .I love Virtualdjs new interface but i agree with you about the waveforms .I like mine vertical and the waveforms at the top are too big making everything else a bit crowded or crushed.I hope they do something about that.Over all they are going in the right direction and they are finally getting some brand recognition outside of the mobile market which is a good thing.I will know better about how good these changes are when i have a new computer.
love the last 15 seconds of the footage hwhahwhah LOL! big up
Great video. Do you think the new version of vdj might work with my Ddj T1 pioneer traktor controller ?
+Jeremiah Bryant that I’m not sure about. Check the community forums on the vdj site.
Ok thanks
Thanks for the great content bro!
the back end looks better but hasnt changed much.Like you repeated use seems to help with navigation but i still think that Seratos is better.
What kind of bass u got back there?
Hi, i have to use a second soundcard and serato does not allow it
8:17 The phase doesn't need to be plugin into VDJ. You can use plug it into a power supply. That's how I have mines set-up. I can do a quick video on that... Give me a week.
+D.J.Knightrin well I tried everything and it would not read the box unless it was plugged in. Out of curiosity, are you on a Mac or pc?
@@ClevelandTerry PC... But I already did it in a club environment and other person was using a MAC
+Jesse Sanchez exactly!
In ESSENTIAL and PRO you can RECORD from "Master" without going through SETTINGS
Where do u see that?
@@Xylume thx man
my 68 can be used with VDJ but it needs a lot of mapping and as its getting very old im not sure i will bother but my Numark Scratch works rght out of the box so i can switch from Serato to VDJ with not much bother
+Danielle king that unmarked scratch looks dope.
Good video as usual
So Cleveland... what are you saying ... You can't use virtual dj 2020 on a pc.. laptops?
George Tyrone Jr. I’m not sure how you interpreted it that way. I’m only talking about Mac.
Great info bro
can i download music to usb stick off it when bought full licence
I used virtual dj and the pitch fader only changes the speed of the track
I manually have to changer the key in the key slot instead of simply using the pith fader icon
Pitch*
+Jayjay Duncan the pitch fader is only designed to adjust speed. If you want to do a key change you’ll have to map two buttons or use hardware that has key change/keyboard pads.
Hey one thing...... how is the vinyl emulation sound compared serato, traktor, rekordbox... I've used all but traktor, and the vinyl scratch emulation sounds different between the 3...
+Jonathan Midler it’s fine, I do think rekordbox has the best sound emulation but VDJ is not bad.
Why remove the wave form??? lol
Wrong the effects have changed they added Mobius and some other effects on VDJ
+JSB 360 all I’m saying is they still don’t sound as good as the competition
As always an excellent video. Can't wait for your thoughts on the xp2. Also if you don't mind, I could use some advice on organizing my music. I don't dj but I would like to do a party once in a while. This is a great channel. Thanks and keep the content coming!
+LLoyoc that may make a good video. Let me think about it.
@@ClevelandTerry Thank you!!!
@@ClevelandTerry Ditto. I used to be a full-time DJ for 20+ years but I got out of it right before CDs faded out. I have 5000 songs completely unorganized. It's overwhelming. I have no idea where to start.
Good video. I'll stay with Rekordbox DJ.
+Steve Mcc I get it. Rekordbox is dope. I’ve started using the sequencer more. It’s dope with the xp1
I now use Denon Prime 4....looks good tho..I used Serato for 6 plus years
2nd time today? No problem! Practice makes perfect :-D
I love your descriptive way in the video........However ,you should have shown more of what you were talking about in terms of the actual interface instead of the casual onlooker having to guess what you're talking about ,but seeing you talk about it...Keep up the fine work
+Robert N. Griffith I agree with you. In fact I had extra b roll and just forgot to put it in.
@@ErnestoAvilez92 it's been 2 yrs so I highly doubt they have any desire

David Stanton I don’t know that I agree with you on a lot of points, but VDJ is a very good platform. I still believe serato has the better layout.
Keep it up. I am a subscriber too
David Stanton much appreciated pal!
