That's good data, thanks for posting. I picked up a couple of bricks of the Midas but have not shot it. A couple years ago I tested a bunch of ammo and found that SK Pistol Special shot the best out of my Walther KKM smallbore rifle at 50yards. That was quite a surprise.
@@bpm990d glad you found it interesting. There’s so many types to try it’s a bit overwhelming. You’re not the first to tell me they’ve had good luck with the SK Pistol. It’s on my list to try.
Good test - all tests have statistical issues, but Yours is better than many I’ve seen. For my competition (and hunting) I test several 4-shot groups over time. There are weaknesses in that testing also, but keeping calm I still find my go to-ammo. Really no surprises.
@@jcrow530 thanks. I think I’m about as excited as you are to see how that Vudoo shoots. I’m pretty sure Santa is bringing me a new bipod. Hope to see you out there soon.
Some insight... your lot testing and ammo combination shouldn't be judged at 50 yards / meters. This is why lot test centers will use 50 meter results to further test the same lot at 100 before making judgment. In my expirence, SK at that velocity 1050-1060 will produce more vertical spread and less accuracy. You may find, this is where that particular lot of Midas + may have a tighter cone of accuracy at longer distances.
@@EagleEyeShooting I keep hearing that from guys that are better shooters than I am so I guess I need to stop being so arrogant and try it. I can’t get my head around that. If the accuracy at 50 yards is very similar and the ES and SD are similar I doesn’t make sense. But my biggest accomplishment as a shooter was getting my shooting merit badge in Boy Scouts so I know I have a lot to learn. I will focus my testing at 100 yards though and I appreciate your thoughts. Also I’m tired of losing to rifles you built. You do impressive work.
I foul the barrel with SK Rifle Match before competing with Midas+. I’ve seen some great groups with the fouling shots and decided to stay with the SK for the match (benchrest). It has always let be down before I finish the card.
@@stevekiemele995 when I first started shooting with my club we all shot SK Rifle Match. Now I’m they only one still using it. It comes down to the cost for me but I only compete locally.
I shoot 5 shot groups at 50 if it’s good I shoot 10 shots at 100yds but the a low sd number with 10 shots seems to work well too. I watched this on one of eagle eye early TH-cam’s
@@johnmiller9979 I need to shoot more at 100 yards. I’m pretty new to this precision 22 game and shooting that far with a 22 is still crazy to me. It is a thrill to make hits that far away though. At our clip we shoot 22’s as far as 180 yards. With just a little wind that’s a really hard shot to hit. A lot of fun though and I’m learning a lot.
Makes no sense to buy Midas+ that has not been lot tested for an individual rile. In reality Midas+ is worth it if you are a serious competitor and your rifle is tested at a Lapua test center to perform as desired with a certain lot of Midas+ and that lot of Midas+ shows better results than the best lot of CenterX.
@@couespursuit7350 Midas+ is fantastic ammo. I’ve been beaten by it quite a few times but from what I’ve seen SK Rifle Match can hold its own against more expensive ammo. I do agree though the more serious shooter requires more expensive ammo. Thanks.
