So you liked it a bit then ? 😂 1974? I was 10… Excellent and absolutely joyful as usual. Your enthusiasm - whether for cars, trains or plant - is as infectious as ever. Just keep doing what you do and don’t change anything !! I thought the same that shape is so Datsun 280Z…
I was watching this and thinking of the cars available in the market sector this was in at the time and I'm inclined to agree that this was the best coupe available when you take into consideration how much space it has. A lot of the others I could think of were 2+2's at best and were either cheaper or way more expensive than this.
This was from when audi stood out and was special. Granted the 80s coupe was a head turning shape too, but since then they have just become dull ...and parked in every council estate...
Seat belts just where not worn in the uk back then. The holes in the head linear was used because peope in the UK thought that if they were not there the head lining might collapse over your head if you had the front windows open and you drove over 60 mph, I remember reading about it in the 70s. Although Audi was available in the uk I only ever saw one. When I was thinking about buying an Audi back the the 70s my dad threatend to throw me out on to the street if I very brought one home and he ment it, people were very touchy back then. I might be wrong but I think it ran on two star petrol but I might be wrong. I ended up buying a Datsun 120Y coupé and then my grandand stopped talking to me till I sold it and got a Maxi
My Physics teacher drove one of those. He was probably the coolest teacher, and definitely had the coolest car. Although frankly a Citroen GS was a worthy mention.
the owner of that beauty is either not a follower or mad to leave it in the hands of Lawrie :P joking aside ! well done to all ! this channel is getting better by the day ! keep it up
@@lmm hmmm up for some proper money but maybe worth it. Buy yourself a low miles Audi Allroad 2.7 biturbo and sit on it, you'll get one cheap, they are beautiful cars and the proce will surely go through the roof.
Since this car is now for sale on Ebay, I'm not sure about the independentness of this video. Not doubting the genuine enthusiasm (cos they are great cars) and the ebay entry doesn't reference this video, so I'm not sure. Was the smoking that JayEmm referred to fixed by the time you drove it? And lads, if you like it so much why didn't you buy it, since it was coming up for sale? Answers needed I think.
We had no idea that the car had left Audi. We drove it after Jayemm, and it wasn't smoking. As we mentioned it hadn't been driven for a while, and by the time we'd finished it was significantly happier than it had been. If I had the money they wanted, I'd have it in a heartbeat. It's magnificent.
Lovely looking car. It seems that the 1970's brought out some great coupe cars because Alfa Romeo and VW themselves brought out two great cars near the end of the 1970's in the form of the GTV and the Sirocco.
The styling on this car is almost like a cross between a Lotus Elite and a some kind of American muscle car (Mustang, maybe?) and it really is a great-looking car, especially by 1970s standards. If anything though, it really is more inspired by the Datsuns and Toyotas it was competing against, and it looks pretty similar to the Datsun 120Y.
It is simply sad that the planned successor to the Audi 100 Coupé S, the EA425, was ultimately not allowed to come onto the market as an Audi. Especially as it had pop-up headlights. As a Porsche 924, it did not enjoy the success it could have had as an Audi Coupé S Mk 2.
I quite like the obvious distinction between LGL and LMM drives.LMM drives just feels more casual, like a beautiful drive in a nice road vehicle, compared with a day on a railway synonymous with LGL. I also like how LMM is a bit more funnier in general, as everyone running the channel gets more confident. Amazing video! Sick car BTW
That's kinda what we've gone for. There are many people who do reviews better than us - like Jayemm, so going for a different angle is all we have - glad you're enjoying it though!
Certainly near the top of the Audi tree - only beaten by the early Quattro (which was just a beast in sheep's clothing, but of course is about ten years younger).
ok guys confession time .. did you switch off the headlights .. did you get a jump-start , or did you have to phone Audi to tell them their car will feature in whats broken now ?? and yeah stunning car whick really carries that colour well
It was the second take, with the lights off the car looked too dark. So we redid and left them on, and then turned them off when we went to recover the camera
Imo, I think the audi 80 you did a while back looks better, but that's because I love an estate, but still nice. I can see what you mean by it looking Japanese.
👍👌👏 This gorgeous car could also be bought in a typical 1970s orange colour. With this the Coupé looked even more like the car that Roger Moore drove in the Persuaders (Aston Martin). With rear wheel drive I would love to own this car although the build quality was far, far away from Mercedes Benz in those days. The Coupé 100 S should also have had a tailgate instead of this relatively small trunk lid. It would've made this beautiful vehicle even more versatile. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all involved people.

Well from a make believe steamer to a Audi way to go and an’t a Audi able to survive a railroad highway crossing 🤔 considering the engineering that Audi is known for
That space in the engine bay isn't wasted. It allows access to everything and is sorely missed on post 80's cars.
It is so nice to be able to work on something!
Great! I love my 72er Coupe S and I love your words about this car - thank you very much🙂
Glad you enjoyed it, I think you get a buzz from anything that actually works properly!
I mean, that could be part of it..
Well, I guess BMW no longer has "the ultimate driving machine," Audi made that with the 100 Coupe S according to Lawrie and Matt!
I'd take this over a Beamer any day!
As a suggestion, How about borrowing four vehicles from Audi for a grand tour! with Trev and Morgan
If they let us, we'd be very much up for that
Interesting video... I like how you describe every detail of it.
Thank you very much

Nice car, I remember when these were a familiar sight.
Super car. Really enjoyed it
I absolutely love old audis had a 86 5000s was a great car
They were indeed great
I used to know the guy who ran the Audi 100 Coupe club. Gordon loved these before they were popular.
Obviously they had great taste!
Im not an Audi fan but thats nice. Has a whiff of the Fiat Dino about its looks
This is really something special

Looks like an Audi Capri or 280Z. Fantastic.

I guess my generation doesn't appreciate the hurt that could have been caused by buying a Japanese or German car.

Yes, he definitely did

Has nobody told you how to adjust the head restraints properly so that they can do the job they are meant to, or do they not adjust in the Audi 100?
