    A suggestion….. put a d ring at the end of the lift gate and a snatch block. Hook the winch cable up to rear bumper and you can pull the car out onto the gate. Maybe??

      @curtlyons9235 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve thought about that, Nash; the problem is the lift gate flips out for a reason. The car is longer than the lift gate so to install a pulley you wouldn’t be able to strap the back bumper bar as the car is too long if that makes sense.

    • @OldNo7Garage

    We also just purchased a lift gate and also had the issue with it leaking off. We then rebuilt the cylinder and it still leaks off. But we have learned that if you raise the liftgate all the way up like 5 inches above that 2nd floor that it will lock in there and not leak off. I hope this helps. Have a great day!

    Consider installing a Safety Chain from the upper floor of the trailer to the Lift Gate when you are working under it. That should be easy to do and provide a little safety if a hydraulic hose should blow out.

    There should be a way to lock the lift gate when it's up. I never keep my hydraulics under load, why wear out the pistons. If there is a small leak, it will just get worse.
    Aren't the louvered doors made for gas or batteries? Wouldn't want something that emits fumes to be in an enclosed space that small.
    You should shut everything off before starting the generator. Never turn off with a load on it.

    Oh yeah, hook up a master disconnect to the generator. That way, you can completely remove the load before start up and shut down. I learned the hard way. Started mine up one day with the air compressor still plugged in, and the added strain, couples with low/no oil pressure at start up, slung the rod right out the side of the block!! AND, DONT FORGET THE RESTRICTOR PLATE!!! Good luck at Whynot this weekend!!!

  • @jameswester650

    Watching you shut down generator made me cringe. It's not good on the circuit boards in the generator when shut down under a load. You should disconnect all power from generator before shutting down. Same goes when first starting up generator. Don't start under a load.

      It’ll smoke one fast. Also a generator you really don’t know everything about it’s past or honestly I never start one without checking the oil and water. Those Onan gensets are pretty dependable and I’ve been on 36 years on shrimp boats and many different generators from 1, 2 and 4 cylinder hand crank lister generators to 6 cylinder Detroit 671 generators and I’d have to say I’ve seen people kill quite a few not check oil but most of them were ruined or needed repairs from starting and shutting them down under a load.

    -To store springs in my trailer, I made a " pigeon hole " type rack from PVC pipe. Just get pipe that will fit your springs inside, lay them side by side, and prime and glue them together. The first one I made by stacking the rows and just using PVC cement. Springs being heavy and roads being bumpy meant we found a broken spring rack when we got to the track. The second one was built the same way, but we put it between 3/8 plywood walls. This was used for years. hope this helped. As for the gears, remember the old VHS tapes and the racks they were stored in? Build the same style rack scaled up for gear cases. Caution, just use cases with center pins to keep the gears apart.

    Springs-Plywood and some pvc at a slope and cover the face with carpet. Super easy and will look great, put the dyno next to it in that cabinet. Put shocks next to it the same way. We always just made a tray and stacked the gears up right or a pin board style on the side of the cabinet.

    That’s a new pump in that trailer. That gate always came down a little bit. That shelf is where I also put the gears. I built that shelf. Was a ac unit in there at one point in time. Never have to mess around to align a header, just slide it on and be sure to use the washers and nuts that come with them. I use the 12 point nuts, they have 12 or 6 point to chose from. For the springs, attach pvc pipe to some marine plywood with an o.d. that your springs will fit in and slide your springs into the tubes for transport. Or you could have it build in aluminum, either way tubes that your springs will fit in for transport. Kinda the same for the gear sets, a rack for the gear sets stand up on end with the ratios written on the end of the box/carton showing.

      You put steel rods in place of the shocks or use a ratchet strap to pull down on the car from the shock mount on the rear end so it sucks the car down and it still rolls just no up and down it’s locked in place

    I would shorten the tire rack too and add 2nd chains on the ramp, better safe then sorry.

    Get a bolt bin to hold the springs. Make the rear tool chest mobile, or pull it out and fit yours in its place. Definitely get the hydraulics looked at, but my suggestion would be either leave it down or make some legs to support it, you don’t want it to fail while people are underneath it. And lastly, surely you could make one of the other cabinets house the smasher, possibly make it on one side of the cabinet you showed the springs in now, with the other side as storage.

    Loop the controller around the chain on the lift gate so it won't fall.

  • @yupyup4020
    @yupyup4020 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    When opening the door hold it closed and let it almost all the way down to put tension on the chains. Then pull the top of the door open and start to raise it up that will keep it from banging and flapping around. If you pull it open as soon as it clears the channel at the top it has to much slack in the chains and bangs around.

    You shouldn't be getting any hydraulic release at all in a perfect world. But having it leak that much in that amount of time is dangerous. I for sure would be figuring out a way to keep that gate at the same height all the time. It could be life or death.

    For the springs have mount pvc pipes and just have the springs either fit in side so all you have to do is slide them out of be able to fit them over the pipes so it just slides off

    You need a hook up cable to run off the mains at home. Put the springs in shorts lengths of drain pipe . Just put the gears in a one of the shallow drawers in the tool cabinets.

    Supported or unsupported headers will have a tendency to crack at transition points due to the harmonics, Get a good welder and keep inspecting them. As far as the gears, most boxes are the same size, Small box tubing and light weight angle iron, make a rack for the gears.
