I applied Rain-X two weeks ago on my car windows, It rained a bit during the last two weeks, but not while I was driving. Today however on the motorway it started raining heavy, I could see the wiper blades on the car behind me going very fast. My windshield was like the matrix, water was flying off. I didn't have to use my wipers at all.

Its a good thing you didnt have to use them because if you did it would have left a haze on your window that makes you essentially blind when car lights come through it. THis stuff should be banned, and yes I applied it exactly how it says on the bottle.

I mean either way, if you could see properly or not, the cops 9 out of 10 times are almost always going to catch you. Getting away depends on how much distance you can make, how well you know the area (surroundings) like streets or alleyways or parking spots or how well you can hide in plain sight. Also, a-lot of luck is needed and motivation to actually get away some people just give up 5 minutes into the chase so you got to keep motivated to drive until your gas is used up or take another vehicle. Hey now, not condoning this but just my opinion!

I agree with a couple people. I prepared my windshield by washing the car, using a clay bar on the windshield, drying the car, cleaning the windshield of previous products and road grime etc. with a good quality glass cleaner ( not Windex ) in my case I used Autoglym’s Fast Glass. ThenI I raised the wipers off the glass, and applied the RainX original using a clean microfibre cloth and a circular motion, let it dry to a slight haze and applied another coating of RainX. Don’t use too much product in the first or second application. I gave it a few minutes to haze up ( it was sort of warm out but in cooler weather I would wait a little longer). Then use a new microfibre cloth or shop style paper towel to wipe the haze off. Get it all off, clean the wiper blades some people use WD40, some use glass cleaner ( non rain repellant stuff ) or diluted rubbing alcohol 70% or less. Go over the windshield again to remove any small spots of left over haze especially where the wipers will sit on the glass and the upper as well as side edges of the glass. It preferable to apply the RainX when you know it won’t rain first a day or two or longer. RainX makes a spray that is a glass cleaner and it has rain repellent in it. It’s not for the base coating it’s to clean dust, bugs etc off the glass and renew the RainX that is already on the windshield. I mistakenly thought it was full blown Rain X and found out if used on untreated glass it only barely repels rain. To get the best performance from RainX you need to be going 40 mph ( 60 km/hr ) or faster. Under that speed, use slow delay wiper mode or just do a single pass with the wipers once every 30+ seconds. Light mist will not work until you’re at highway speeds but a moderate to almost heavy rain will just bead up and blow off the glass. RainX also makes a product that works on plastic such as headlights or motorcycle windshields or helmet visors this could be a life saver if it is snowing wet fluffy flakes.

You always pull up your wipers and get the full windshield when you clean it. No difference in spraying a towel or applying right on the windshield as all you are doing is spreading it around the same way. You are just wasting more spraying it on the towel as it goes flying off in the air. At least when you spray it onto the windshield the majority in going onto the windshield and not into the air.

The Rain X coating only works if you have a good-size rain. The tiny droplets, like a mist, won't run down, but a normal shower or heavy rain will.
I use a clay bar before the alcohol cleaning. Dirt will ruin the wiper blades.
Do this in the shade or the garage, and away from other cars, so you spray doesn't get on the paint.
Rain X washer fluid isn't the same as the Rain X glass coating!

I've used the Rain-X Wipers for years on my Camaro I love them. How often depends, if your state rains a lot more then ours I would just apply it as often as you need it. I feel as though a combo of the spray and wipers are a fantastic option. Don't forget to hit the back windows too! -- Marly

Not sure what kind of rain repellent in the automatic wash but I never get my car dried off (they suck) and I never have problems seeing out of my windshield and the water beads fly upward as I drive in the rain. However, I would like to apply this to my side windows and side rear view mirrors since the rain repellent from the automatic wash doesn't seem to help keep the rain clear from those areas.

Rainx is the best when applied properly. But lots of wax Deposits from the car wash stopping mine from working, how ever much I apply.

Use blue Dawn. It will take off all old wax. Just remember to rewax after the wash.

Any spray on glass cleaner would remove that💩 Because most cleaners contain alcohol😂

I have a question, after you apply and the rain x is there really nice. then dust and water gets on the windshield and it is really dirty, HOW do you clean your windshield of the dirt and water spots without stripping the rain x off??

I wouldn't use alcohol on your blades, the rubber can become misshaped on some cheaper blades. Personally I use the same Rain X on a towel and give the blades a good wipe, works just as well 👍

How often should I apply Rain X? I usually wash my car every week and I use micfofibre cloth for washing my car and chamois for drying it.

I've used RainX for many years, but the new spray bottle is not the same stuff as the old small bottle. Doesn't work nearly as well. Too bad.

The little bottle is alcohol solvent based and I think the new stuff is water based.

Two things: It's best to use the Rainx X-treme Clean cleaner to really cut all the old grime off (follow instructions), and 2) You should lift your wiper blades up when cleaning and applying to have full coverage.
